Tuning FWD with TC and STC off

I’m running into an issue with tuning FWD vehicles with traction control off, more specifically, the more power I give the engine the less traction I get in low gears. Is there any way of tuning out the ungodly amount of wheel spin for higher class FWD cars?!

Right now my settings are at 0% accel and decel for the differential, not helping the wheel spin I know but without it the powerout understeer is awful. I can tell this is part of my issue though, due to the heating of only the left front tire during these spins. I’m afraid of 2 things that may be the solution to my problem; first, that I’m going to be significantly limited to the amount of horsepower I can give the engine because the wheels won’t take it and second, that I will have to adjust the differential and go with a balance of excessive suspension oversteer to balance the powerout understeer. Cornering does not sound fun with this setup.

Any tips or secrets on this issue would be appreciated!

Interesting diff settings…seems way too high to corner effectively but I’ll give it a shot. If you don’t mind I may try some of these settings. I’m currently tuning for the VW Scirocco but it shouldn’t be too much different.

Its a open build, use as much of it as you want!

Hey man, thanks again for the advice. I was wondering if you could try a tune I’ve been working on and let me know what you think. So far I think it is pretty good and went pretty high on the LBs, well for me at least. It’s tuned on Yaz…

Sure I’ll have a go this weekend! Sorry for the late reply, been busy at college.

Completely understand, no worries. I’ve gotten to a point where everything just feels right so getting an outside perspective will be the final judge.

I balance the throttle understeer with spring biases, and then match it to approx. 25% accel/0% decel. If it matches well enough you can literally steer the car through a corner with the throttle,… But then not have to worry about throttle lift snap oversteer.

Cresting corners can unsettle the car though, so sometimes you can just drag a very slight touch of brakes under full acceleration to stabilize the rear.
