I do agree with you. In my experience T10 have always left wheel users behind since the beginning.
I know how much easier it is to drive on the controller compared with the wheel. Reality would not be this way!
However Forza is a simulation based game & yeah while the physics are based on reality, that’s the sim part. The game part tends to take things to extremes. Like the overdoing the puddles & some of the tuning techniques that would never work in reality.
I do understand people’s frustration!
As wheel users on console we have always been a minority. That does not mean we should be ignored though. T10 have never liked updating their game once out. Although they have done here & there when they have made big mistakes.
My personal issues have always come back to the original testing and testers of the game. Most problems like left hand pull bug & even P.I. probems could & should be sorted at this stage. But T10 decided every time to give it to newbies & yes men. Then they refuse to update because they are already busy making the next title that they will rush to market.
It’s a risky way of doing business & they have lost lots of clients that could have helped propel their business.
Anyway enough of a rant!
I am willing to help people having trouble & I’m a pretty good teacher, but this is all I personally think I can do to help!
This game sucks sooooo bad on the wheel it’s socking Plus why does it feel like I’m drifting a bus when I’m in a gt86? it’s impossible to spin the wheel fully in transitions the feedback is f*cked I even turned the feedback off in the options and still can’t spin the wheel all the way like how is that possible there should be no resistance?. Disappointed this issue has still not been sorted been out for a while too! Defiantly giving up on forza Motorsport waste of money if you’ve got a wheel!
What wheel are you using? I would say drifting is hard work on a wheel. I’m not really into it so spend most trying not to. It is hard work when trying but to me harder on the controller as well.
I would not recommend a non ffb wheel for Forza. But that’s my humble opinion.
Running a Fanatec CSW with CS shifter & V3 peddles.
In game setting:-
75% ffb
55%Vibration
270 DOR
Normal steering
Steering setting 2-100
0-100 everything else.
Not using the Auto DOR setting on wheel from fanatec.
The low DOR is probably more difficult on turn in but quicker for myself. There’s no silver bullet in terms of wheel setting. More often than not there is a compromise. The same with tuning. I’m not one for changing my wheel setting for different cars I will change the tune of the car firstly!
Nice setup!, I’m using a Logitech g920 with H pattern,
I’ve Set my settings to
40 force feedback
35 vibration
810 degrees wheel rotation
Normal steering setting
Abs and all assists off
And the advanced steering settings are all 0-100 apart from the handbrake or any other push to make buttons on the wheel.
Nicest I could make it feel I’ve also spent hours and hours trying to tune the cars and the settings to feel nice and right like assetto corsa for example and even horizon 2 feels more right drifting than f6 :/. have asked a few people too for any good settings but everyone has said they don’t have one that feels that great, it’s much better on controller
Has nothing to do with your wheel setup man, its the in-game force feedback code. It’s just dead wrong. The only way to get good at drifting in Forza 6 is to keep practicing it relentlessly until you get used to the strange loss of feedback while in a drift.
A tip is that you should hold the angle even if you are losing feedback. Your input in the game will still be correct but the force feedback is implying something else, so just ignore it. When I hold full lock, I barely even move the wheel unless its to slightly correct for the turn or if im following someone in tandem. Hold the wheel tight and if it does something weird, ignore it and keeping holding the angle.
Also, unless someone else already told you, if you are trying to use 900 degees of steering angle, or anything above 540 degrees for that matter, you need to turn it down. The return-to-center force feedback in fm6 is slow and unresponsive and unrealistic. The car does not center itself on its own, you have to center it yourself. Try anything between 270 degrees and 540 degrees of steering angle and you will find it much easier to drift.
This game never will feel as good as asseto or any other forza for that matter so if you wan’t to feel better feedback, play different games
Okay so yeah believe it or not I just got an xbox1 for Christmas and ive been playing gt6 on ps3 with my g27 which was so good then I got the xbox and I got horizon 2 first and didn’t have my new wheel yet (Logitech g920) after I had gotten forza 6 so I played it with the controller until the g920 showed up then I started using the wheel for that and I thought it was just garbage and I actually thought it was the Logitech wheel itself and I actually emailed them saying how much the wheel sucked smfh. compared to the g27/…been trying to find out for a couple weeks now how to improve the wheel and theres no solution. im not a crazy tech person so Idk anything about codes and stuff and then I thought to myself “let me try horizon” and sure as hell its the wheel ive been wanting all this time…just performs very well and so much better than in forza 6…no wack loss of force feedback and delay of the force feedback and coming out of calibration when im literally fighting with the wheel to see if it counter steers for drifting which it doesn’t at all and the immense amount of understeer was blowing my mind and as a seasoned gt5 and gt6 drifter and lmp1 driving with the wheel I was just so shocked and let down. I know this is my first post but im glad mad people have this problem and its not just me so yeah hopefully turn 10 with re write this code or something but for the time being im just gonna play horizon 2 or forza 5 hahah ugh this sucks

After spending a bit of time on the community bounty hunter trying to post a quick time I have to say forza 6 on the wheel is mediocre at best. I managed to put in a reasonable time (just a smidge quicker than your time AOT Rocky)
Here’s my breakdown
Normal driving (ie not pushing hard)= ok/fine
Hard driving (not quiet on the limit) = mediocre
On the limit= not the best
Drifting= absolutely the worst I’ve ever felt
Force feedback for this level of simulation is inadequate. End of story.
Saw that last night blue. Nice time! It’s a bit of a challenge in that heavy car & all those off camber corners. When I ran it I was in two minds about the downforce Full/low. I knew my lap wasn’t super special but it certainly wasn’t bad so good job👍 There’s obviously nothing wrong with your skills!
I was just making sure I get the car but maybe I should go back and have a little rivals battle Lol.
I agree about the drifting feeling pretty awful. Although I don’t drift hardly ever! I’m also in agreement that the ffb should be better with much more adjustments.
Im down for that for sure, TBH when i was lapping the rival i was chasing was just in the 1.39.0 bracket and i really wanted to break into the 1:38s, and when i did finaly crack a 1:38.9 your time showed up so i decided to see if i could improve again. pretty happy with the time ive managed so far (1:38.5xx) not bad for a drifter hey!
and thanks for the compliment! your lap was a tough time to beat
Definitely agree with this. I’ve been switching back and forth between controller and wheel for the community bounty, and it’s crazy how much easier it is to push the limits of the car using a controller. The only way I can drive that aggressive with my wheel is to turn tcs on.
We seem to have consensus that the ffb and vibration for wheels on fm6 is poor. Voodoo never posted up the details on ffb as he committed to.
Where are you at t10? Your most loyal customers are wheel users. We literally have the most invested in fm and are left with an incomplete experience. Make it right or we will move on to competitors that offer the wheel experience that we want.
When it comes to the force feedback on a wheel, I whole heartily agree that it is a poor attempt. And it seriously needs some work to bring it up to scratch.
Regardless of that however, and when it comes to driving around the tracks normally, I can very easily read what the car is doing from the feedback that is given. I am fairly confident in pushing the cars also, and even in letting the tail slide out a tad if I believe it is beneficial. When it comes to full on drifting however, this is where the problems are really noticable. The wheel feels heavily dampened, and the “return to center” force is not really that great either. So to drift at anything more than 540° requires more work than it should. Since release I have attempted to drift at 900°, something which I have been doing since FM5 and my old TX wheel, as well as on the PC with Assetto Corsa. The FFB in FM5 was a lot nicer for drifting, and Assetto is just miles ahead in terms of FFB.
The thing that would really help Forza out, is having separate adjustments for:
Minimal Force feedback.
Force feedback Damping.
Force feedback filtering.
Just having those 3 additional items in the “advanced controller” options would do a great deal to improving the FFB feel in Forza, and allow us to tailor our experience much better. Hopefully T10 are still watching this thread, and hopefully they will consider these things, maybe they wont. Only time will tell, but ultimately something needs to be done to improve the force feedback. Besides that, everything else is there in terms of the control of the cars with a wheel.
[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] Anyone who believes that Forza 6 with a wheel is even remotely enjoyable, PLEASE DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR and try Assetto Corsa…only then will your eyes be opened. I find it disgraceful that th community has to beg and beg a company like Turn 10 who could have the best in the world tune the FFB and probably have the best out there, This shows us all that these big corps only care about $$$ and not true quality. I enjoy Forza on a wheel, regardless of the FFB issues. They do not effect me when I am racing, only when I am drifting.
Oh, and me enjoying Assetto Corsa with my G27 wheel:
I used to have a TX wheel till it burnt up, so I also know how excellent Assetto is on a belt driven wheel.
And me enjoying Forza with a G920 wheel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enG5BsJHxaY
And a couple of pics of the leaderboards to show that I am consistently quick with a wheel in FM6, regardless of the class and type used.
(seriously, I have hundreds of Forza videos on my channel. Most of the FM6 ones are on a wheel, a few of the FM5 ones are also)
You should not assume that because myself or others enjoy Forza with a wheel, that we only play Forza and nothing else. I play all of the current heavy hitters on the PC, which includes Assetto, RRRE, Rfactor 2, iRacing, and dirt rally. And that is not including sim games from the past, to which there are many in my case. I have been playing racing games since 1989, and I have owned a few different wheels over the years. As well as a fair few different systems to play racing games on.
When driving in Forza, I am able to read what the cars are doing, and I am able to put the cars where I want when I want. I have zero issues catching a slide when I push it too far, I have no issues cancelling out understeer. And I have no issues with known when those two things happen based on the FFB that I get through the wheel.
As I have said countless times, T10 do need to work on the FFB. It needs improving a lot. But it is no way near the point where you can not enjoy the game with a wheel, and as I have shown, you can drive exceptionally quick with a wheel as well. I find Forza on a wheel great deal of fun, to the point that I didnt play for the past week while waiting for a replacement G920 wheel to arrive after the right paddle shifter started to play up.
