I’m thinking about taking the plunge and finally upgrading to a Xbone and Forza 5. I was just wondering how the force feedback feels in Forza 5 compared to Forza 4?
The FF in Forza 4 was a little disappointing for me, especially the way you could barely feel anything until you reach just before the limit of understeer, and then if you exceeded it by the tiniest amount you were screwed.
I thought FM4 was very strong but then it depends on the wheel you used I guess. I had the Microsoft and Fanatec wheel. I preferred the Fanatec of course. MadCatz just released a new wheel for the XBone and it does not look a cheep as your normal MadCatz peripheral but then again it aint cheep either at $400.00 us. I can not vouch for the ffb on either the Thrustmaster or the MadCatz as I have not had hands on either one.
I have the Thrustmaster wheel and the force feedback is quite similar to the CSR Elite wheel From Fanatec. I like a lot of feedback I. The wheel and I actually had to turn it down a bit. It does seem to make a difference what degree rotation you choose. 360 degrees seems to have more that say 900 degrees but it is still very good. Keep in mind this is just my opinion and yours may be different.

My TX force feedback is set to 65%, but I run a lot of FWD D class cars, and the torque steer is still insane. The TX has so much force I had to stop using my TV tray race rig and build a homemade PVC rig because it would spin the legs of the tv tray off of the floor while I was holding the wheel.
My first TX died minutes after first unboxing and back in December I would have said any quality concerns with the wheel are probably valid… But now that I have this one, it’s been flawless for about 140ish Forza hours or 9 months of actual time, and two of my friends have them as well with no issues. I think Thrustmaster has gotten the kinks worked out… this is the wheel to buy. It has the most settings and the feedback is quiet and strong. This is the first wheel I’ve been able to run full 900 degree on without ending up in the weeds on every corner. IMO the only way they could sweeten the $400 deal would be if they had included a clutch and shifter set with it.
I started with the Microsoft wheel on Forza 4 but upgraded to the CSR in the end. I found the CSR wheel to be very “heavy” feeling, like the bearings were running in treacle or something! And the pedals were far too stiff for me. As long as the “all or nothing” understeer hasn’t carried over I’ll be happy!
In fine Forza tradition the feedback is out to lunch around the centre, maybe even worse than FM4. Other than that there’s not much to pick between them. FM5 does some strange things with the front wheels on FWD. I think it’s meant to be torque steer but it comes across as though they are buckling slightly sometimes on change of direction. Needs to be patched.
