Steering Wheel FFB in demo (thrustmaster tx)

I’ve played forza 5 with this wheel extensively, and the force feedback was awesome. I was expecting a similar FFB engine with the forza horizon 2 demo (even though I know it’s arcade), but I was shocked, and was wondering if everyone else is experiencing this.

The physics are not the problem. The FFB is. It was so weak and numb, even after turning off all assists. I messed with some settings to make it stronger which made me notice something else: the speed at which you are turning hardly affects the amount of resistance on centre. Let me explain:

I am going 40mph and turn the wheel at about 45 degrees left, and I get almost full resistance. Then I go 140mph and turn it the same angle, and It feels the same as if it was 40mph. Then if I do this at 20mph it feels the same. It almost feels like a non-force feedback wheel with a preset resistance.

This was very disappointing. Does anyone with a wheel also have this problem? Or do you think this is a problem with the demo?

Settings:
DOR: 900
FFB: 70
Vibration: 70

No assists
Sim steering
Lancer EVO X

I didn’t notice originally, but now feel the same when I whacked up the FF. In the EVO there seemed to be a stepped change in FF for anything above 15mph.

Under 15mph steering is light and above has same feel regardless of the amount of g you are pulling. It should progressively resist only until you start to break into understeer though.

I was on Normal steering too, so don’t think it’s down to Sim steering. Maybe the demo -guess we’ll have to wait and see and would be a shame if it is like this. With all the off road etc. though I’m guessing most of the time you’ll be driving with at least 1 axel in slip so may not really be noticeable.

Glad I’m not the only who has noticed this. I was starting to think it was a problem with my own wheel and not the game.

I would hope it is a bug. Or perhaps they had an earlier build of the game for the demo that did not have the full FFB engine… I don’t know. To be honest though, when driving on the complete limit, it’s not that bad IMO. But when you are going just 80% or even cruising around, it’s a bit annoying. Not to mention unrealistic to anyone who’s ever driven a real car (I know this is an arcade racer but still…).

Also, if I recall correctly, Forza 5 had some updates that improved the FFB after release. So if it does remain the same when the full game is released, a future update improving it is not out of the question.

Actually, it has to be a demo bug…

Played around some more and if you set FF high and steering rotation to 270 you will see what I mean. Doing 30mph and trying to turn even 45 deg is like steering an elephant by it’s ears
