When you use an unsupported gamepad, like a Dualsense, you have more options to fine tune your steering controls compared to a supported gamepad, like the Xbox controller.
-
Toggling the gamepad steering filters and changing the steering linearity is not available on the “Advanced Controller” settings, but are present on the “Advanced Input” for unsupported controllers.
-
Inner deadzone at 0 still has a lot of deadzone being applied. This is not a problem for unsupported controllers.
-
The steering rate is fairly slow, having a way to adjust it would allow players to tailor the controls to their liking.
-
Steering self aligning (SSA) is a welcome addition but I feel like the options are lackluster or not working correctly.
On a supported controller, setting SSA to 0 will still have the steering back off a bit too quickly on a straight line, it just won’t help catch the car when a slide begins.
On an unsupported controller, SSA at 0 will still try to catch the car when sliding but won’t reach as high of a steering lock as setting it higher.
Ideally there would be two sliders, one for how much steering angle it can reach (0 effectively would turn it off, 100 would let it fully countersteer a slide) and another one for how sensitive it is (similarly to steering linearity), for example.
