[SOLVED] Release Version - Terrible Controls - is it but me?

UPDATE:
Input seems to differ from the demo but can be adjusted in

Heya,

controller steering in the release version feels extremely bad and jerky. There’s hardly any input in the first 20° and from there it’s way too much - like way of the charts of a more linear increase. This feels extremely unintuitive and often results in very poor countersteering. This has always been a problem in Forza (very noticeable when you see videos of people who never played Forza before - they constantly keep bouncing left and right on the road), but in FH4 it feels way worse.

I didn’t have those problems in the demo, playing the same cars (both Fords) with the same settings:
Steering Sim, ABS & Traction on, Stability off.

It felt odd right from the beginning when entering the Senna, my first thought was “Hmm… that went better in the demo. Man, this is like digital steering!”

Is someone else noticing the difference, or is it but me?

Simulation steering never feels right on the controller to me.

Yes I thought mine felt weird as well, exactly how you described it, glad its not just me. I haven’t had a chance to play with settings though only got a quick play this morning.

Make sure your controller’s steering deadzones are set to 0 for Inside and 100 for Outside in the Advanced Controller Settings.

Thanks mate, I was looking for those but didn’t see em in the hurry (gotta prep for work :D).

Settings - Control Settings - Press X for Advanced controls

Gonna fiddle with those and linearity, later!

Theres also this weird situation with simulation steering and a controller… When you come out of a drift or not having control of your car, theres a certain point where your car somewhat “snaps back” to being in control. I have traction control and stability control off. The normal steering setting almost feels more natural when going through the same situation. Anyone of you noticed this or have any suggestions?

This is a common occurrence for most. Even after playing with it on and off for months/years, some players can never get used to it. A majority of the Top 500 racers use normal steering because of this. Because simulation steering causes a lot of trouble (even for some of the best Forza racers), normal steering is the setting you’re more than likely going to want to use.

I had noticed it in the previous forza horizons, but only slightly. It has seemed much more prominent to me in this one, but it has varied a bit with different cars. Ill have to experiment with the normal steering more and give that a go. I never knew that there was actually a preference for the normal steering, even in the highest level of play, thats very very interesting. Thanks for the awesome feedback!
