Spent 5 hours trying to do the 1 million point drift zone

I Have decided im just gonna skip this challenge. Its absurd. Maybe some people are gust really good at drifting. I think im decent though. I can easily get 900k points. It’s impressive That some people can do this easily, but does that mean that we should all have to be that good, in order to complete the weekly forzathon? I don’t think so. I saw people getting 1.5 million points, perhaps that should should be the challenge for next week. Then how bout 2 million points. Like let’s just keep ramping up the difficulty until everyone quits. If this becomes a pattern i will definitely be quiting. I already just skip the trials every week because Again, those are just too challenging. Reason being i usually only get 2 players total trying to compete with all the other ai. I don’t mind having some difficulty, but this is absurd to me. Please keep the game about being fun, not about being absurdly difficult.

PGG have no idea how to tailor difficulty to cater for the various skill levels of it’s player base. They set a single difficulty on almost all content which is either too hard for some or too easy for others. They will never get this right until they realise setting a single difficulty level is the root problem. A bigger problem however is the fact that people like me have to highlight something so blaringly obvious. It’s as if they don’t even play their own game…

What’s a simply solution in this case? Award varying degrees of points. 1 point for 500k. 2 points for 750k. 3 points for 1 mill. Then ensure that players can gain all rewards from the playlist if they 1 star or 2 star everything. On the other hand, potentially offer bonus awards to players that can 3 star everything. Otherwise the bonus is that highly skilled players don’t have to complete the full playlist.

@Willitical
Totally agree.
There are many (like me) who suck at drifting despite many, many years of trying to improve, watching tutorials, changing this and that, but it’s just not something that comes naturally to me.
The fact that they move it from the 500K 3 star to 1 Million is ridiculous. They’ve been doing this for some time now in PR stunts - moving the bar to ludicrous levels above the 3 star point in most types of event.
Stop It !

point in case - my mate who rarely plays the game - drifts with ease in most cases and has always done so since he started the game, though he’s even struggling with this one.

I know there are different types of skill levels involved, but imo it was fairly simple. I actually did it in a Velociraptor 6x6 and the Merc 6x6. Then again I have been drifting for who knows how many years. So maybe its just me… but I liked the feeling of a challenge. Hadn’t really had that in a Forza Title in quite some time though.

Well done, good for you, but as I said, to some it comes naturally and to others it doesn’t.
As said, I’ve played most Forza games incl. FH1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 plus FM5 to 7 (couldn’t get to previous FM titles as they don’t work on the one S) and tried for years but to no avail. My mate has never played any Forza title except FH4 and 5 and only on a very casual basis (too busy with his wife, kids, and life in general) but can drift without a problem and has been doing so since he started in FH4. Some can, some can’t, so you’re lucky to be one of those that can.

Yes, my suggestion for the next Forza livestream is to have Mike Brown play the entirety of this week’s play list, or at least to 40 points and let us enjoy his struggles.

And while we’re at it, have him do it from now until the day he’s fired or quits. He’s the Creative Director, it shouldn’t be a chore to him, and if it is, maybe it will finally teach him how we feel!

Having a selection of people at PG do the seasonal stunts themselves would sort these out easily, they’d soon get a fair idea of what a reasonable target for most players would be.

I know they have much bigger priorities but that’s something that would take them literally a few minutes a week.

But to be honest the standard 3 star targets are supposed to indicate a very good score/distance/speed for the respective PR stunts, you don’t have to even test out this drift zone to know doubling the 3 star score is excessive.

They should be playing each and every one before releasing them. Obviously, they don’t and that shows when they attempt anything on the livestreams.
There’s also a big difference in offline / online, so they need to do it on a platform outside of their in-house server mode.
e.g. HRSPRS - won every race with ease in the Jesko. Played it earlier online with a mate and the car was totally different and virtually impossible to keep out of the barriers. Same thing happens with all other cars when using in online compared with offline.

I don’t think they all need testing just ones where they decide to put the requirement well above the 3 stars, I mean the speed zone one this week was at the other end of the scale ie a complete joke.

It’s a simple QC issue. Test it before you release it to the masses.
Pretty standard thing for any company to do, so clearly they don’t, otherwise they wouldn’t release ridiculously hard and ridiculously easy at the same time.

Every Forza Monthly when they attempt something, it’s always a big “will he do it ?” moment from the team (just to hype up the new series) then you get it and it’s always a piece of… They never attempt the hard ones one the stream, just the easy ones.

I managed to do it with a Willys jeep with a drift tune on it. I was trying to use the hoonicorn before that and got around 900k before the jeep popped into my head.

This challenge was simple for me. It only took me two trys to say sc… it! Move along nothing to see here. I know my limits and this one exceeded them.

This game markets itself as E for everyone but clearly this is a classic example of how it’s not E for everyone.

I barely managed to get 3 stars on this Drift Zone at 500k, so I’ve not even bothered with this one. A super wheel spin prize for 1 million & 2 measly points just isn’t worth the hassle. I know my limits.

They set the 3 star targets too low though - as indicated by the fact a relatively competent drifter can get 1,000,000 here fairly easily, but the 3 star target is half that. Really, the 3 star target should probably be 1,000,000 or so and the weekly one a bit less.

That’s a highly relative statement. I would consider myself a fairly competitive and competent drifter as far as drifting in this game goes. And I’m no where near that magic 1 million mark. If you take away the super scores on the leaderboards I’m not in bad shape. I think the 500,000 mark is rather fair for three stars. But the are about 2/3 more players in the game who might yet disagree with that. That maybe 400,000 or 300,000 might be a fairer three star number.

Maybe even a better way to set the star levels would be to tie it into the skill levels. If you are a novice player the level is y; a pro player the level is x; and if you want the maximum challenge at unbeatable the level is z.

I got it with:
1932 Ford Coupe tune from INOOB78, Share Code 489 519 306
Uphill, automatic transmission, no traction or stability
I probably tried half a dozen times with Formula Drift, got it first go with the A800 Ford.

World Record is around 1.27 mil after patch and probably 5/6th of my friends (ignoring the super competitive people) are in the 950k-1.1 mil range. I think 850k or 900k would be more than fair imho for three stars. But honestly I agree with @Jezza14! There are two different types of competitive based drifting too which is important to take into consideration. There is a competition tandem group people who are not aiming for scores and the competitive score go getters aka point drifters. You can still be fairly competitive and not score high on the drift zones. It all depends on your expertise.

Again the solution is simple, just cater for all players and all skill levels.

For example in Rocket League they have different player ranks which match players of similar skill levels. This allows players to be fairly challenged and not matched against ultra pros or ultra newbs. PGGs solution is to throw everyone into the same online racing/drifting. Even worse, PGGs solution is no longer have any concept of match making or competitive gameplay.

In World of Warcraft they have mythic+ dungeons where the difficulty can scale indefinitely. This makes the same content fun, replayable and challenging. PGGs solution is to allow users to toggle between a select few difficulties ranging up to Unbeatable which ironically for many is easily beatable. There’s also next to no replayability because for example you either complete the drift zone or you don’t.

In Fortnite players are free to play whatever content they want to unlock rewards. This allows players to have fun doing what they want to do. PGGs solution is to force all players to do their weekly line up of events which all have a single difficulty.

PGG could learn alot from other popular games, specifically how other games tailor content for all players of all skill levels. It’s not that hard… It’s really not.
