Speed sensitive steering

I would like the option to turn this off. The speed sensitive steering kicks in a little over 100km and turns off over 180km or so making taking some turns at way slower speed because the wheel doesn’t turn to full lock. This should turn on after 180km to make the steering smoother at high speeds not at the middle speeds. I also dislike the triggers not using the full travel 3/4 travel is full gas. Try it hold the clutch in and press the trigger see when the gas shows its full I can move my finger that extra 1/4 inch back and forth and gas will stay on full. I hope that this stuff it fixed for forza 7. Other than that I really like the game.

Have you considered adjusting deadzones? If you use default you will notice the steering to be a bit numb.

I have all the dead ones at 0 and 100. It’s not the dead zones the wheel only turns 90 degrees to full lock but when the speed sensitive steering kicks in it only turn 45 and doesn’t go to full lock.

It can get ridiculous I know. I’ve been voicing concerns since FM4. They just don’t want to add that in. Why do only wheel users get to have complete freedom over steering? It is bizarre. I don’t think it would break the game to have varying degrees of SSS or allow the user to fine tune the experience according to their own preference.

For example I like braking late… turning hard… making the suspension work hard… and using a little bit of throttle and oversteer to slide out of turns on occasions. But… Forza won’t let me do that. I have to “abide my Forza rules for speed sensitive steering” and not be able to push my car as hard.

If I can do this IRL on the track, why can’t I do this in Forza???

This discussion has been had many times and I think one thing needs to be cleared up. Forza does not use speed sensitive steering, it uses friction sensitive steering. On the controller the game will not let you exceed friction (understeer) by turning, it will only allow peak/ maximum friction.

I have had no problem on controller or wheel getting cars to oversteer or neutral steer through corners, if you can’t get the cars to turn chances are yoj are overdriving it. try slowing down just a fraction and remember, forza is different from real life, you cannot FEEL how hard your driving the car even on a wheel because there are no g-forces.

And FYI, not having friction sensitive steering on a wheel is what makes the wheel so much more difficult.

I understand the point you’re trying to hit home… and that’s exactly what I want: more depth and accessibility on the controller just like you have on the wheel. It’s quite impossible to overdrive the car on a controller… the devs should at least consider throwing in additional settings for those who wish to have a completely assist-free experience on the controller. That’s all.

As RPM Swerve already said, it adjustable over controller settings, i never nor have i heard from anyone having a problem with his throttle or steering on a controller like this. So if you have 0 100 on your accel then your controller is broken. If your controller is not broken, then you dont have 0 100 on the accel. There is nothing between these two options for this problem as solution.

I re-read your post and apart from some reservations with speed sensitive steering, I think the trigger travel works fine. If you have set it to 0/100, it should do just that = give you full travel only at 100% compression. Your controller might be broken.

^ this is correct

I understand, im all for having more options, I just don’t think it will yield the results people are expecting. IMO the best option they could add for controllers would be the damper sensitivity (how long it takes to go from lock to lock) 1 being what it is now to 100 which would be 1:1. This would allow for more agressive driving on the controller without even touching the friction sensitive part of the steering model.

Although a steering wheel can technically go past that point of friction the only difference is that you can see the inside tire start to heat up, the front wheels dont continue to turn in, its called understeer. You’re not losing anything by using a controller compared to a wheel the car hits a point of understeer and the wheels wont turn anymore due to the friction. Id say try to yank the wheel all the way in real life going over a hundred mph and you’d see that you couldn’t do it either but that’d be a wreckless experiment. If you feel as though the car isnt turning enough tune it properly and youll be able to get the most out of it, but every car has its limits of what it can do.

Well, certainly not steer like that at 100 mph, but say, the game deems 40 mph as the right speed for a particular turn in order to get good wheel lock… I should be able to nose-dive into it at 45 mph IF I want. Over-driving the car is fun; I say let the driver deal with the consequences.
