did you look closely and see that there is not 1 road that connects to the ones in that area, especially the ones the in the base map
so highly doubt they could lead to an expansion unless some of the other roads get joined somehow
That’s the Forth Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge and the new Queensferry Crossing. They are iconic landmarks, and i would have been shocked had they not been there. Doesn’t mean we’ll get a Fife expansion pack, though! I would very strongly suspect they are just eye candy.
Alternatively a server loading screen upon crossing the bridge, much the same as WoW did with new zones nearly 12 years ago. It would be such a shame to miss this opportunity -again- and just keep to the small self-contained maps. I also don’t trust them to not go totally off-book again with expansions.
I don’t see it happening. Main reason being, every single one of them turn into a tunnel which is practically what you’d do when you’re just adding them there “just because”… so it makes it seem more realistic to get in & out of the city.
As you can see in the Google Maps screenshot, the bridges are there in real life (never been to England so wouldn’t have known otherwise). Doesn’t look like they lead to anywhere too interesting IRL that could be used as a unique map expansion in-game but you never know. The fact that they are there in the game surely serves a purpose. Otherwise there is literally no reason put them there in my opinion. Like I’m sure there’s plenty of other things around this area of Edinburgh in the real world that they didn’t include…
Personally I’d love to see it seamlessly flow into a new part of the map, maybe even including a built-in racetrack with the environment including features like the Horizon Festival’s working dragstrip. Wishful thinking I know…
Nothing that is so recognisable, so well-known, and visible from so far away. The reason to put them there is they will look great - I would bet there will be some good spots for taking pictures of cars with them in the background. It’s not even the first game they’ve been in - they original two bridges were also the model for a pair of bridges in GTA San Andreas.
There are issues with extending south due to the current FH4 being in central england. If you went south you’d need to justify not including London which was already decided against by the devs when they were looking at setting the game in the UK to begin with. Going further into the south-west also presents you with essentially same landscapes as what are already in the game but with the addition of sand-dunes along the coastal areas, heading west you only have Snowdonia and if you head north the only unique scenery you get there is high mountains and deep valleys and then of course in all of these areas you have coastal fishing towns which are visually distinctive and not currently in FH4. What is really needed is somewhere that has all of these things and is already a well known place for motorsports fans - the Isle of Man.
The island is already famous for hosting the Manx TT races but is also well known for rally racing. The isle itself is small enough to have many coastal features such as sand-dunes like the south-west england, mountainous regions like Wales and Scotland and it has many visually distinctive fishing towns. Also, from a marketing perspective, it is much easier to try to appeal to players to buy an expansion pack if it is set in a famous location like the Isle of Man than trying to get people excited about an expansion that lets you race through Devon, Wales or Scotland.
ONLY Snowdonia? That’s a beautiful area. North West Wales (the Ll^yn Peninsula especially), would make for a great Forza expansion pack with all the winding, narrow country roads and breathtaking scenery. Plus the world would get to see all the road signs etc in Welsh (the oldest language still spoken in Europe) and maybe even drive up Yr Wddfa (Mt. Snowdon).
You realize that road is the opposite of everything Forza Horizon tries to achieve? For the same reason devs have already ruled out London as an expansion.
Nope - they are most definitely replications of the Forth bridges in Scotland, where the game was made. See Kincaid Bridge | GTA Wiki | Fandom for more details. There are lots of easter eggs in the entire GTA series referring to Rockstar North’s home town and area.
I think the purpose is so that you can see some iconic landmarks off in the distance in the background, nothing more… as opposed to a grey fog or giant cliff or a glowing barrier that screams out “this is the edge of the map.”
Those are the Forth Bridges in SCOTLAND my friend, not England. That’s true about them not leading to anywhere interesting… North Queensferry.
South Queensferry on the other hand is a beautiful coastal town. I have family that live there so looking forward to driving round the estates and see if my Auntie’s house is there in full glory.
The second road bridge, far left in your photo, has just recently been built and the one in the centre was at one time the biggest suspension bridge in Europe.
As for the red rail bridge, that was built in 1890 if memory serves and was illuminated in 1990 after a spectacular ceremony with fireworks.
The Ferry Front is a great place to be at night with magnificent views of the bridges.
I live between the rail bridge and the two Road Bridges, so I’d love to be able go near my house. I also work in the East end of town in Leith Street and unfortunately my office building is an old stone tenement in the game.
Turn10 said that the you sort of move between servers while goes across the map. In that case a extended dlc it seems possible since you can lock access to that area/server by those with the dlc pack. Could even lock just like the locked the demo version.
Would love if the dlc end up been a map extension.
I personally believe that one of the expansions will be north simply because of the bridges. I think the other expansion will be the Isle of Man because of the motoring culture there.
We’ve been here before. The expansions have always been separate things. You can speculate all you want but we won’t know until they actually release one of the expansions. I think we all would like to see the map itself expand but they have not done that in the past. Lots of free space too on H3 map and that didn’t mean anything.
I really wish this was true. Hopefully it will be. What kills me are the huge open areas just beyond the roads, yet we are not allowed to go there because of a small fence. Why even show us so much area on the map, if we aren’t allowed to go there, and REALLY… how hard would it have been to just let us explore those areas without roads and maybe put several more XP and Fast Travel boards, etc. for us to find? Come on Playground Games!
