With the news of T10 having 50% of the staff being laid off what is next for this current Forza Motorsport title? My heart goes out to all of the developers affected by the layoffs and hope they can recover as soon as possible. But something I think the Forza Motorsport community is owed is was the layoffs of T10 due completely in part of the game underperforming, why was the game released in such a rushed and buggy state, why were most of tracks and features from previous games completely absent from the 2023 title, will the game continue with regular updates or not, will this current title be shelved prematurely and reworked for a future game release, and where has the T10 leadership been such as Dan Greenwalt, and especially Chris Esaki and why they have been radio silent.
I hope that this game has not been or plan on being abandoned because with the recent updates I truly believe that the time to exploit this games full potential is better now than it has ever been in the past.
Killing this game off would make me buy a PS5.
Hopefully Microsoft doesn’t become like Nintendo, and we all know how scummy they are.
Things are looking grim, but I’m ganna keep supporting this game till the very end.
Once they know their plans, a blog post would be nice. Even if there’s no or very few updates now planned, some closure would be appreciated. When I worked on EA SPORTS WRC we did that at the end of the project, same with NFS Unbound.
Hopefully those affected at Turn 10 can find opportunities quickly, it’s a tough environment out there for job seekers. If any of the Turn 10 people I’ve interacted with in the past are interested in roles at EA, let me know.
After seeing many posts over at gtplanet (including yours) & reddit, i don’t think there will be anymore plans or blogs.
Even if we get another message to the motorsport community, I’m afraid it’s not going to be good news.
I couldn’t agree more with the above mentioned, I keep my Series X and use it SOLELY for Forza.
If it’s canned I’m canning the xbox and going PS5…
I’ve been a Forza player since the start, helped with betas, helped with testing and played consistently every few days for what seems an eternity, Forza is Xbox and Xbox is Forza, shame to see so many layoffs and would be a true heartfelt loss to the community of it’s done for or EOL.
If that is the case, then I applause all those involved in making the meany memories I’ve made over the many many years of playing Forza.
It’s been a ride and was on the up and up imho, not perfect but getting better and I feel the last few months of hard hard graft to improve has been noticeable and the Fujimi Kaido was indeed imho a farewell and last ditch gift to us.
I’ll as always keep playing, so long as it’s available and if we can rise from the ashes so to speak then as in the past I’ll pay it forward and support you by buying the game(s) as I have done for many years.
If no more development is forthcoming then wish everyone farewell, good luck in finding alternative employment and thank you all for the memories.
I nearly want to believe the existence of the game is cursed. Yes, the launch of FM 2023 was beyond rough and all the feedback it hot was, for the most part, deserved. However, in the 1,5 years it’s out, it’s really improved. The last update especially has been a big step in the right direction in terms of FOMO content and more races to do in multiplayer. It really makes me happy to see putting my time and faith into the game was the right thing to do, despite a part of the “fanbase” still thinking the game is horrible (it isn’t).
In the absolute nightmare scenario that they really do pull the plug on the game (wich we aren’t in… yet), i don’t see myself playing any other racing game. Yes, not even horizon. H6 i’ll probably buy but mostly to play with friends rather than going solo. Horizon for a while now has become… i guess boring to me ? It just doesn’t scratch the itch i get with Motorsport. Losing Motorsport means there’s no other motorsport orientated circuit racing game for me to play, only proper sims would remain that typically aren’t controller friendly. The only exception i would make to play is Le Mans Ultimate but that’s +1 year away on console potentially. Not sure if this means i’d have to jump to GT7 (nothing against doing that but i’d rather not make the investment given my current games library).
Now more than ever does the community need transparency on where the long term future (beyond 2026) of the game lies. I have had enough of worrying about how long i can play the game and if we’re getting new content. Nobody wants to play with that kind of anxiety. As far as i currently understand, supposedly enough staff will remain to leave the game “up and running” (Tom Warren). No idea what that means in this context.
My heart goes out to all involved in the layoffs (not just the staff from Turn10 but also the other studios in the MS ecosystem) and i hope they can move onto a new, more secure future
Buy the apex allstars car pack; then search for eventlab circuits.
I even made Project Codename: Motorsport for eventlab as well. You can find it in the forums as well.
Assume it’s not true. I haven’t read anything from any devs about the future of the game. Only Kurulu has posted a farewell, that gave no indication of what might happen to the game. Everything else we ‘know’ has come from journalists.
As usual with this game, Microsoft and Turn 10 ignore us, the players. It looks like they’re more interested in themselves and potential buyers of their shares than their customers.
They recently announced that they will continue to partner with AMD to make the next generation Xbox, but you have to wonder who will buy it, when their long term exclusives are dead or available on every other platform.
I’m content with the state of Motorsport as a controller-focused PC player. It’s not look new automotive releases are going to be exciting for me, with most mfgs going toward electric motors. Between Motorsport and FM7, I can get my simcade racing itch scratched. Hate that it had to go down like this, but it seems Turn10 has been compromised for years. Now it’s just official. They’ll always be considered legends of race gaming history.
