No they didn’t do their best. taking fan favorites out the game is not doing your best that is an injustice to the people who pay $60 for you game every year. Obviously if the same thing is being repeated then multiple people all feel the same way about the missing piece storefront, auction house, lap split times etc. There’s not enough tracks that’s an obviously fact. Sure the game looks nice and plays well but those are only parts of the equation. The 2nd game on next generation better have all the aspect of a complete game or that’s gonna be it for all this DLC and Forza for me.
If the game isn’t sorted for release of the new sim racer (Project C.A.R.S), there will probably be a mass exodus. Unfortunate cos i think fm5 physics are first class, pitty about all the missin stuff.
we all love turn ten. we all love forza. that’s why we’re here. even those that have spoken the most or the loudest about their disappointment in some way or another. we don’t all agree on what’s good or bad, and no one knows exactly why some of the decisions were made or which desk they came from.
but they do read the forums. and they did respond to the open letter. sure it was vague, and probably approved by someone important. but the point is, this wasn’t an announcement, or an article on the news page. it was a reply to a critical thread. they know the game needs work and they care about what we think. and that’s enough for me to have faith enough to be patient and see what they bring to the table next. and it should be enough for everyone to keep their criticisms constructive and intelligent.
we all care about making the game the best it can be. we should act like it.
I think that the people who are upset with the final product have a right to be. They bought it, and they ARE fans of the series. I also think that the reason things are said over and over is because nobody from T10 seemed to be responding. Earlier when Helios posted a simple reply saying they are working on things and will post here when they have something to say was nice to see. Perhaps if they would sticky a locked thread stating this then some of the more umm, passionate fans would settle down.
But it’s a two way street. Those of you who seem to support T10 at every corner and want to argue with the people who are most vocal about their being unhappy aren’t helping either. We are all fans here. Maybe all this forum needs is that thread from someone at T10 instead of all these self proclaimed messiahs slinging mud from the other side of the fence. I didn’t have high hopes for this game from the start simply because it was a launch title on a new system and traditionally launch titles are pretty weak. This caused some friction with a lot of people and some even thought of me as a hater because of my stance. From the positive things I have heard and the rumors I have read, the fact that they brought the game this far while having 6 months or so shaved off their deadline is impressive. That being said, if you are one of these “super negative” fans keep in mind that if said rumors about the release are true, then we are still months away from the original release of the system and game. Try to give them that time at the very least.
It is almost impossible if not totally impossible to please everyone, you’ll always have your critics which obviously is a good and bad thing. But if you go to any website with reviews or opinions on a product you’ll usually find a high percentage of negative feedback because people are usually more inclined to post disappointment rather than praise. I believe we have a good 6-8 months left of updates to the game, including dlc content as well as fixes to various issues. So considering every “next gen” game has had its issues I dont think people should complain as much as they have but you also should expect they always will, so don’t get to bent out of shape about it
Well said… with anything there will be praise… and not. That being said… allow me to retort.
I am happy with the following:
Graphics and detail levels of the cars and tracks
dynamics of driving… (with a little tweaking et)
The New tracks… SPA, and Bathurst…
New Painting editor with all the different flavors
When you mod the brakes… they change… nice
On the fence with the Drivetars… They just smash into everything… Racing is racing… but they dont even really brake before smashing any car in the corner… so the Drivetars are really Fly by racing line drivers with no sense of inteligence
Dont like:
No Porsche
No Nordshliefe (Green Hell)
Loss of many tracks… Howver dont get panties in a twist… I would hope they come out with at least 4-5 track DLC’s
Lack of any new Wheels (This dates all the way back to F2 really… and you cant tell me its a licensing thing… they really need someone who knows the modding community in REAL LIFE
More muscle car mods… (Blowers, and stacks) and side exhaust… At least make it an Option?
The fact when you mod your exhaust… nothing happens?
Cant sell cars, or mods yet… (I hope this will change when we get a marketplace)
Rewards for winning and finishing a championship… seems small?
I dont mind DLC car packs… I just hope they really listen to the communtiy… F4 I invested probably over 200 dollars with all the car packs, track pack, limited collectors Edition… As a consumer I alwasy will demand more… Quantity… not soo much but Quality… just like they said… I can wait for Car packs and Track packs… I know like others… we just like hearing more communication from turn 10 etc… about some things… or WHY… they dont add for example any brand name wheels like Stance, Vossen, Vorsteiner, Novitec, and more from BBS, HRE etc?

Some people say “I am not happy about x in the game.” - I get that.
Some people say “Turn 10 you did x to hurt me in such and such a way.” - I don’t get that.
All up each and every person will decide whether the game is an overall positive expeience for them or not. There is only one person’s opinion that counts here and that is our own.
I really like the game a lot, my favorite out right now and I don’t see that changing for awhile. I will admit I would like yo see some things in the game that are not there but I have never had a game with out a wish list from me. By this I mean no matter how good a game is if I made it ai may have added or changed some material. This has been the case for every game I have ever owned ( over 40 years now as I am 47 years old ). All that I really care is that I enjoy the game and I do very much. I don’t understand why so many people want to try to rain on my parade. Sure am glad I have an industrial size umbrella.
dirty driving and wall riders aside, the only i ever had was no nurburgring. if they add, id be more than willing to pay for it. it is a decent game, but still needs a lot of work unfortunately.
The amount of cars and track are fine, one thing it is not fine on a 2013 “next gen” console is a game that can’t balance around visuals, fps and leave the racing lines that bad.
thats not cause of AA, thats cause there is minimal, or non existent Ansiotropic filtering which has no performance hit whatsoever so it should be x16, but… APU.
I and those who have been around here for the entire line-up of releases know that the negativity never ends - and we shouldn’t expect it to. If you try to mitigate it, you will most certainly lose.
the graphics card in both next gen consoles are mediocre at best when you compare them to their pc equivalents… i have a laptop that i bought last may that dwarfs them and it’s a year old already. but regardless, they should still be more than capable of handling those little filters and graphics bells and whistles. my guess is that is either just a genuine “whoops we forgot to do it” and it may not be easy to add after the fact. or the xbox one itself is the limiting factor. for the hardware in the xbone, and the graphical representation i see in forza… the two don’t add up. the xbone SHOULD be capable of handling the 60 fps reflections, the filtering and all that. i think the software running the OS on the xbone in the background takes up too much of the very limited ram. why they gave it an 8 core processor, and limited the ram so much i don’t understand. but that’s my theory. the OS is a memory pig like all windows software, and the xbone itself is limiting the graphics on forza. the only problems turn 10 should focus on are the features that haven’t been added yet.
Well for me if they don’t even look at that aliasing issue the game will be forever broken, all I look when racing is the track, and the track looks horrible right now.
