britain all the way… it has all
Forza horizon 4’s map is the best map of all the horizon games. The Australia map was awful, I think some of you are wearing rose colored glasses.
Britain, by far. Australia was way too flat (with the exception of Blizzard Mountain).
Britain’s map is too small. Australia gets my vote
FH4 has the best map design by a massive gap imo, none of the previous maps come close.
FH3 was an awesome game, but it’s weakest part was it’s map, FH2’s was far better, maybe even FH1’s
Prefer Britain by far. It all feels far more natural to drive through, whereas Australia felt like a desert area, city area, jungle area etc just stitched together without a great deal of flow between them.
Being a Brit I’m biased. But Britain in autumn in this game really is a beautiful thing.
FH4’s roads are much better; far more technical and better elevation changes. FH3 had the largest map in the series but it was also the flattest and most unmemorable.
Australian one easily.
Britain for sure. I find myself pulling over to admire the landscape all of the time. The only thing it’s missing is kangaroos, but I’m not sure they have those in Britain (I’ve never been, can’t confirm🙂).
No contest, Britain is a far more interesting map with much better driving roads and verticality, not to mention the seasons.
My only (minor) complaint is that there’s only one Horizon festival location, I would have at least liked to have had a handful of small outposts around the map like in FH1 instead of just houses, especially early in the game before the player can afford most of the houses.
Just from what I’ve played so far, Britain no question. A lot of the environments are similar actually, but the tracks have more variety overall and are just better implemented. The experience just feels more refined overall, I just raced in a forest mud trail area while it was raining, the level of detail and realism was definitely a level above of what I am used to in FH3…the sheer number of different puddles, large roads, so much fun racing online on it with the sports utility and classic rally vehicles .
I also really love the large forest areas, very well done, looks stunning in Autumn.
Britain, because Australia is the worst map ever featured in Horizon.
However, Britain is still inferior to the map in FH2. The roads are pretty nice but, aside from Edinburgh, it feels as if the whole map was just wastelands, crop fields and tiny villages. Edinburgh itself has nothing on Nice, Sisteron and Castelletto. The highway system in FH2 was much more realistic as well.
And it even loses to FH3 in some areas. Australia lacked variety but had more diversity in styles, and snow in Australia existed on demand rather than once every four weeks.
Highlights of FH4 are obviously Edinburgh, the coastal drive to the east, the dirt roads and the south, but the map’s diversity is almost completely reliant on the season shifts, which is a minus for the game IMO.
I like them both.
Australia had better visual variety and more “wow” areas, although some were criminally underutilized (like the pink lakes… y no race?).
Britain has more topographical variety, but also has some underutilized areas (luckily in a month that problem will be gone).
I think in my mind, Britain beats out Australia, but that’s riding mostly on the strength of seasons and a far better city, which makes me biased since urban races are my favourite.
Australia was fun and all, but the season changing us remarkable. It’s like a new game almost. Plus, I love the British world and all the classic architecture. Edinburgh is remarkable at night. I only wish they would’ve gone all out and made more big cities.
I feel like I’m biased because I started with FH3, but I absolutely love the Australian map because of its openness and varied environments that I actually did NOT feel like were stitched together, but instead transitioned quite nicely considering how surreal the idea of compressing these different biomes so close to each other is. Just checking out the sights is the best part of the game. FH2 on the other hand had amazing roads, and some really pretty towns. You could just feel the blazing hot summer.
I’m still not feeling the FH4 map, but I’m hoping that playing through more of the seasons brings it to life a little more. Right now it’s just a bunch of samey countryside, and the summer was meh. Edinburgh looks cool I guess, but feels lifeless and empty.
Italy/France
Of the two, I’ll take Australia. Both have their positives, but the winter season in Britain is a huge negative. Australian had a better interstate. The roads seem to flow better in Australia as well. There is more diversity in Australia, too while Britain seems to be much of the same over and over. Britain gets high marks for the buildings. I could be that I prefer Australia since I have played so many hours there and it is more familiar to me. I am still very much trying to learn the Britain map. I have driven pretty much all of it, but still do not know where everything is (ie, best stunt locations, etc) and the best routes to choose to get from one place to another.
All this being said, I still prefer Horizon 1.
I need to pick up Horizon 1 and see what all the hype is about with that map. Do you ever see Horizon 1 coming out for PC?
No chance. Get it for the Xbox 360 or One. If you haven’t got either console, it’s worth getting one just for FH1 and FH2 if you like this series.
