Sim steering

I use sim steering for more money at the end of the race  but am I loosing time or gaining time? Is it better to run either or? And only bad thing is runny tcs off and the car snaps and I’m off the track :frowning:
Thanks

Different people like different things.

I would suggest try it yourself to see if you are quicker with either form of steering.

Most controller users I know use normal steering.

Turning one assist off like normal steering means for me turning another on. While I’m drifting in rivals all assist gets turned off and normal steering is turned on. My best advise to you is nice fluid motions. And I use a controller.

Best fluid motions? Confused, and il try it tonight. If no one thinks it makes you faster or whatever il keep running it, more % winning

It would say it does not make you faster. What it does do is make the car more challenging (realistic?) to control.
Its especially noticeable when the car starts to gets out of control if you’re really pushing and you then apply too much oversteer correction … chances are it will get away from you.

Normal steering is a driver aid. IMO the better the driver, the better they can drive with sim steering on.

And that’s applicable for both wheels and controllers.

Sim steering = Random acts of craziness

Normal steering = More consistent feedback

I run normal.

Agree with Worm. Sim steering is great at spitting you out completely unannounced when you even look at a kerb. If you get a wobble on, forget ever being able to regain control. Quicker to just crash and stop then get going in a straight line again. Higher classes make the madness even more pronounced.

To be honest, the extra 5% payout is not worth it, credits come so thick and fast in FM5 you quickly have more than you’ll ever need.

normal for me, i used sim for most of fm4 so i don’t miss it at all

See I tried both. I run more consistent with it on! Maybe I’m use to it? But normal felt boring to me. Like with sim you do fight it a lot, as I run TCS off aswell it’s more enjoyable and fun. But still do well online.

I don’t know if its different for wheel users, but sim steering is not realistic at all on controller.

ive tried it for a few weeks now, and find it incredibly inconsistent.

Sim steering isn’t faster than Normal, nor is it less consistent! The people who say it’s less consistent are the ones who can’t use it or, they aren’t driving the car right.
Sim Steering is no where near “realistic” on the controller (Not sure about the wheel) but it’s just fun and requires skill.
TBH, it’s up to you whether you run Sim or Normal because in terms of gaining time it’s big fat 0… but in terms of skill, it puts you on the edge which in turn, that may make you faster because you become more aware of what is around you.
This is all from my personal experience as I run no Assists and Sim. But, if you want to run it (Sim), I strongly suggest changing your controller deadzones!

Have fun,

Cheers man for explaining it more in depth, and I desided to stick with it, as in actually use to and do race with assists off, but it was more fun a guess. Again thanks
