It was a time when the DLC was made available in physical too. Publishers were less greedy or were able to do better deals with the copyright owners.
You get everything except VIP.
And the Top Gear extras of course, those codes don’t work anymore even for factory sealed copies. But they were a Dashboard theme, a Video and 3 Stig cars.
Of course you will enjoy the game the same way with the normal version, in my opinion.
I don’t know what you played but if you don’t plan on buying another racing game in the next months I would focus on a Forza Horizon 2 complete package right now because it can be delisted in september or october and the DLC will be gone.
The “Platinum Hits” of Forza 3 is the Ultimate/Complete (name varies by region, it’s the same).
But there are Platinum Hits for standard versions of many other games, including Forza 4 and Horizon.
All Xbox 360 games can be Platinum Hits, it’s related to sales, not a special edition.
It just happened they choosed to re-release the complete edition as Platinum Hits, as DLC’s practices were different some 8 years ago.
The other version is the Limited Collector’s Edition. The one with physical bonuses, a big metal box, a keychain and a 2GB flash drive.
This obvioulsy does not include all the DLC as it was released as the same time as the very first version.
But Platinum Hits being complete for Forza 3 is just a coincidence. Saying Platinum is an “Edition” is misleading as people could think they are getting full content because it’s Platinum Hits.
Other game I remember with DLC included being “Greatest Hits” is Fable 2. Different times…
I heard the Limited Collector’s Edition came with the VIP car pack. If that’s true, would you have to download the cars or would they already be installed?
Sorry I’ll have to check as I don’t remember the number of cars. Don’t think it’s too many, it’s usually 5-6 maybe.
But don’t any Forza VIP comes with a car pack? I believe this is common practice.
The Limited Edition comes with two codes, the VIP with it’s car pack and the other code for the legendary cars and extra tracks. The second code doesn’t work anymore, so your only way to get the content is with the Ultimate/Complete edition.
