Buying the Car Pass, VIP, etc. is something I did after the fact last year. I loved the game so much I bought almost all of the DLC. I DO think it’s worth the extra money. Especially when you need that $5 mil car and those wheel spins are doubled up.
Honestly if you’re going to get the car packs as they’re released you’ll probably spend the equivalent and probably more than what you’d pay for the ultimate edition, then you have VIP on top of that (and early access <<< main reason to buy the ultimate edition if you’re inpatient like myself)
it’s worth it if you play the game a bunch. Considering you get stuff at a discount, extra car pack and 4 days early its worth it right there. Plus you don’t have to worry about buying anything in game for 6 months. I think the added credits and wheel spins will finally come in handy for all the extra stuff that seems to be in the game. Gonna be shopping in the AH a good bit
If you plan on playing the game a lot, I’d say it’s worth it.
If you don’t, I’d get the standard edition and buy separately what you’d prefer.
While there is an immediate monetary value in buying it (you save money over buying everything separately), it’s lasting value can only be determined by playing it. You may find you don’t really need the extra cars when you have them, or you may find that you really want them if you just get the standard version.
Good point. If you’re highly specific in your niche, you might not get much enjoyment. As someone who just wants more cars for the sake of having more cars, you’ll seldom be disappointed.
I would add to that list: People who want everything at a discount. You will save some money over buying everything individually, and that’s why I got it.
Digital download should be sent via email, the same email used to login to your Amazon account. Funny though, I thought the discount was only for Physical copies. Oh well, won’t argue with a steelbook.
Exclusive vehicles. The base game has +/- 355 cars. The UE will add 42 extra cars over 6 months to that which should be all-new to the Forza series. If you are a general car enthousiast you will probably like the extra cars, if you are a bit more nit picky (let’s say you only like modern BMW cars) then the extra cars could be a disappointment. Remember that you can always buy the car packs separately as well or even the cars individually. Only for the real car nut who likes everything from slow to fast and old to new is the UE worth it for the cars IMO. Or the collector like myself but Turn 10 sure annoyed the collectors big time in FM6 (see my signature) so I don’t know how this ridiculous problem will be in FH3.
Double wheelspin rewards. Absolutely useless, this is 2016 and the age of grinding is long past us already. Gaining cars and credits will be ridiculously easy whether you have the double wheelspin or not.
Exclusive events. Not sure what it will be in FH3 but in FM6 as a UE user I believe I had some extra VIP lounges for multiplayer. The total amount of time I was playing in this VIP area : 0 seconds.
Community gifts. Every month Little Vixen makes a special themed fantasy livery for a gifted car in the game which gets sent to VIP owners. The livery is often nice but in FM6 due to a weird bug (which I reported repeatedly to the support forum and Turn 10 employees many months ago) the liveries of my gifted cars got destroyed (too many saves of this file type error message). That bug still exists today in FM6. And adding it up with the problem in my signature, are the community gfts worth it? For free sure, but to pay for? Not really, there are artists in the community that can make liveries just as nice as Vixen.
Some things you forgot :
Early access - play from friday the 23rd instead of tuesday the 27th.
VIP tag in front of your name in-game.
So to answer your question, is it worth the extra cash? IMO from a pure technical point of view, absolutely not since it’s half the price of premium new release title on consoles. And technically the game doesn’t change at all, it’s not like you get new zones to drive in or new gameplay modes, it’s the exact same game only with a few dozen more cars. Who buys it them? You must be one of the following :
Impatient players who want to start the weekend before release day.
Completists who simply want to own every car in the game.
People who don’t really care about the extra price.
People who have confidence that in those car packs there will be enough cars they like.
People who want bragging rights.
Forza first row loyal fans.
Number 2 (&3) is for myself the strongest point on the list since I often buy collector editions of games to experience the full deal with all exclusive items included. Again, Turn 10 really annoyed the car collectors in FM6 with their garage limits. Let’s hope they learned their lesson in FH3.
Buying the Ultimate is like buying a new car with top quality alloys and the full performance pack if all this was included with a discount you wouldn’t think twice well the Ultimate edition is the same. The Car Pass is the super alloys the VIP pass is your performance pack with its accelerated credits, free cars and exclusive VIP lobbies plus the Ultimate also includes additional cars you have from day one which is four days before everybody else. So is the Ultimate Edition worth the extra cash, hell yea.
Only you can decide if it’s worth it! It is for me, as I play Forza a lot. I use a rough formula to judge the value of a game - I convert the price from pounds to hours; if I play for that many hours or more, then it’s been worth it. I played Forza 6 for 650 hours, so the Ultimate Edition at eighty quid was well worth the price to me. YMMV.
I’m not a big car pass guy as there are rarely cars I’m interested in I them. In FM6 I stuck to buying single cars.
That being said I will pick up the ultimate edition just for the Motorsports all stars car pack. But I’m sure the car pass will be full of cars from the sixties that I’ll never drive.
