I’ve spent about 10 hours in total working on two liveries for the new racing truck we got in the latest car pack.
More often than not, I get “file share - Please try again later” when I try to share the liveries.
Last night, I almost lost it as I couldn’t figure out why it happened, but this morning, by trial and error, I figured that I couldn’t save the first livery because of a certain (quite layer heavy for just one vinyl group) vinyl group being placed on the left side of the vehicle. If I left it there, I couldn’t share the livery. If I removed it, I could share it. It’s the same vinyl group as on the other side of the vehicle, so the vinyl group itself is not corrupt/broken.
Now I’ve worked a few hours on a second livery and get the same resulting “file share - Please try again later” message. Before I start switching out every vinyl group again, has anyone else encountered this issue? It can’t be a coincidence that the same thing has happened to me with two out of two liveries.
EDIT: I’ve now narrowed it down to vinyl groups on the left side in the door region. That region too is two out of two, so that can’t be coincidence either. I’ll re-edit once I know exactly what is wrong this time around, but it seems that I have issues with saving when I have a vinyl group on or near the left door of the truck… sigh
EDIT 2: Turns out I had to keep the number (the same racing number vinyl group #88 that I use on the roof of the car) vinyl group off the door, or I couldn’t share the livery. This issue makes no sense to me, and if I didn’t experience it myself, I’d have a hard time believing it.
I don’t have similar issues with any other car from the latest car pack (or ANY other car).
(The shapes to the left are from the #2 design, and the right from the #88 design; these shapes are part of the vinyl groups that inexplicably cause issues when placed near/on the left door)
I believe the culprit can be found among the four coloured shapes. I’m pretty sure I didn’t use all four of the “marked” shapes on the left door region for my latest and successfully shared livery, so I think I got lucky!
Good luck creating truck designs without any issues if you decide to share designs before a patch has been made. Maybe staying away from the four shapes I’ve shown can help out.
Ok, we’re starting to have enough people to really start reporting this “formally” to T10. I’ll try to narrow down my issues and put them down in an e-mail to forzafb@microsoft.com. It’ll be interesting to move some vinyl shapes around on the left door to see exactly which areas that lead to an inability to share. Will be time consuming, but interesting.
This message is regarding the issues that some players have had regarding sharing the racing truck after applying layers in the vinyl editor. The same message has been sent to forzafb@microsoft.com. I recommend anyone with fairly reoccurring sharing issues with the racing truck (or any vehicle) to report their issues to that e-mail address.
So I’ve tried a bit more to determine what the actual problem is, or rather which layer shapes and where, that prevents one from sharing a livery on the racing truck.
I’ve come to these conclusions:
The shapes square and half-disc (both from the ‘Primitives’ vinyl editor shape page; one is the first shape on row one, the other third shape on row one) are SOMEHOW the main culprits
The front and left side views are both involved somehow in the prevention of sharing.
A number of factors seem to come into play to prevent a livery from being shared. The livery shown below in the pic cannot be shared as is (only the layers visible in the pic are layers; right, rear, and top views are completely clear of any layers), but it CAN be shared if
I remove the half-disc layers on the front view OR
I remove the square layers on the front view OR
I remove the ‘A fine pilsner’ layer group on the left view OR
I remove the ‘Miller Lite’ layer group on the left view OR
I remove the ‘Discount Tire’ layer group on the left view OR
I remove the ‘Sunoco’ manufacturer layer group on the left view
and similar actions. There doesn’t seem to be any clear pattern as to which layers prevent sharing.
I’m not a painter myself, but I like to put some livery’s together using other people’s logo’s
My problem is that my livery isn’t showing up on my truck in a multiplayer race. I see the livery perfectly fine, it is only not loading for the rest of the lobby, and it is just showing me in the stock livery.
Clearly one of the logo’s has the same issue.
I know this doesn’t contribute a lot to the problem, but at least it is one more who suffers from this issue
I’m having a similar problem with the Abarth released in the August 2 summer pack. Just found this thread. It’s a BB8 so I have lots iof geometric shapes to play with. Thanks for the research launching point!
