RTX 2060 CPU bottlenecking suddenly

Hi, I used to have an EVGA 2060 XC Ultra that never was bottlenecked by my CPU. (cpu render was 93 fps min).
I had to return it and get a Gigabyte Aorus 2060. Had issues getting it to work till I reinstalled drivers a few times.
Now my cpu render minimum is 66fps or so.
In parts of the benchmark where the old EVGA 2060 would do 110fps, this card is doing 89-93fps.

My GPU bound is 15%. On my old 1070 (before getting any 2060) it was 99% and it actually performed a little better in benchmark than my current setup.
My CPU is an i5-6500.
I have 16gb ram and am running from SSD.

Im so confused as to why my cpu is suddenly holding back an identical GPU. CPU usage spikes to 100% when forza is open and limits my gpu usage to 70-80% a lot.
I tried rolling back drivers and it didnt help.

Any ideas :frowning: ?

Up your power limit by using afterburmer or similar? To figure out if it is bottleneck problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. I upped the power limit to 129% and it was the same result. Interestingly, during the benchmark it was only at 63% power draw.
So the GPU is really being held back.
I dont understand how my CPU is suddenly being bogged down hard. The stock cooler sounds like its about to take off when running the benchmark.
This never used to happen.

There must be something else causing the CPU to be used heavily.
For a split second when opening task manager from idle, I get 100% CPU usage with a task called “System Interrupts” being the perpetrator.
I need to get to the bottom of this asap so I can decide weather I should return my GPU. Remember, the cpu didnt limit things as bad with the EVGA 2060 I had before.

Here are some benchmarks if it helps

System using EVGA GTX 1070:

System using Aorus RTX 2060 (I dont have the Bench for the EVGA 2060, however cpu performed same as with 1070 bench):

Both CPU Render and Simulation take a significant hit.

Any troubleshooting ideas, before I return the GPU (have to anyway due to cosmetic damage from new)

Run a malware scan. Sounds like someone is mining bit coin on your electricity and CPU cycles!
Run a virus scan also.

EDIT: I know bitcoin is one word but when i do that microsoft censors it!

Ran malware bytes and windows defender. Both came up with nothing.

Will download some offline scanners and run them.
Damn this is frustrating.
I did a clean boot, disabling all services and startup items and got a 4fps increase for CPU Render and CPU Simulation, but something’s still degrading it

I have a similar issue, Forza 7 and horizon 3 was horrible experienses for me, but was playble.
Now when i got horizon 4 it was suddenly holding 60fps (1080p high) in fullscreen i was so happy.
I even tried in ultra setting managed to hold around 50-55fps.

Then the issues suddenly came back, same as i had in forza7 suddenly gpu gets locked at 30% usage (mayby even lower) and i can barely hold 20 fps ingame (unplayble).
But when I run it in window mode suddely all works again, then next day without pc reboots or anything, it just worked again (fullscreen), now today it didnt work, had to run windowed again.

Is it same for u if you run it in window mode?

Fun thing is that i had same issue in rise of tomb raider with direct x 12 activated, i really beleave my issue is dx12 related.

You don’t seem to have the same problem. Mine still bottlenecks in windowed mode.
Maybe you should make a separate thread for your problem

OK I solved it.
For some reason my ram was knocked out of place and was operating in single channel mode.
Reseated it and got 109fps benchmark

I am GPU limited 41.5% so there is a bottleneck but at min fps of 88 I’m above my refresh rate anyway.
