Extremely low FPS on high end PC

I recently switched from a GTX 980 Ti to an RTX 2070 Super and since doing so i’ve struggled to get 40fps in forza. My GPU usage is apparently only 20% too (but that might be a wrong figure reported). changing the resolution down to the minimum setting doesn’t change the fps too which is really weird. graphics settings are dynamic optimization on ultra.

reinstalling graphics driver also didn’t change anything either.

The strangest part is once or twice since switching GPU the game has been locked at 100+ fps without me touching any of the settings.

I ran the built in benchmark and my results were much lower than it should be

Since changing cards, did you enter your bios to see if it reset to internal GPU?

Most likely you have simply removed the old gpu and installed the new one.
Without the drivers correctly to install or uninstall.

Theres a program, that u can use to deeply uninstall all graphic drivers. (google it, i dont know the name yet)

Maybe reinstall the game will help too. (AFTER the driver install process)

it’s not using internal as FH4 is the only game I have this issue in.

I wanted to save reinstalling the game as a last resort because it takes so long to reinstall. I haven’t used DDU yet to completely uninstall everything but I have upgraded the drivers since I swapped cards. I’m not sure if that’s the cause though because the only game I experience issues in if FH4, all my other games work as intended

Maybe wait for Update 13? Should be out this month.

I thought I should add that I just tested the game at 1080p lowest settings and managed an average of 80fps which is well below what this card should be achieving.

It’s most likely the game. I have always had nvidia cards, swapped them in and out, just used the regular installer and have not had any problems. Usually when everything on your computer runs fine except for one program, it is usually that program. You can wait for the update, but it probably won’t help, like the last couple haven’t helped anyone with problems. You can try re-installing, but for most people that doesn’t work. I have reset, re-installed, changed drives, you name it, still have problems. Maybe you’ll get lucky and something will work, but with your system and that card, it should be running fine.

Can you download gpu-z and stress the card with 3d load and check if its using pcie 3.0 x16. High gpu usage and low fps indicates that it could be using lower pcie revision.

Stressed the GPU with FurMark and monitored using GPU-Z and everything seemed okay. here’s the result for reference http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=782984

I have no clue then what could be wrong with your system. You could try uninstall your old video drivers with DDU and install latest ones.

Nvidia released drivers a few days ago that promise a huge increase in Horizon 4. Try them out. It’s version 436.02. I’m going to try them with my 980 TI but I think they may only boost the 10 and 20 series cards.

tried that already

I’m in these drivers now, didn’t help my issue though

This issue has now been fixed for me with nvidia driver 436.15 (for now at least). Hopefully it doesn’t reappear again
