So, I tried the Demo first of all and everything went just fine
Bought the g ame (Pre-ordered it)
And everything was the same
Auto detected my settings to ultra
Played for days with ZERO problems of any sort.
Then, suddenly one day, it started to LAG
Something like 1 or 2 FPS. (OR LESS)
I had no idea what was going on. Tried to simply re-launch the game and everything was fine again
Then it happened again.
But this time, nothing worked to fix this problem.
So
I disabled my Nvidia Game overlay
Everything was set to minimum
And at HD resolution window, it was fine
But why?
Tried again at Ultra setting 1920x1080
L A G
And I saw through the task manager that Forza Horizon 4 was using ALL my CPU and ALL my GPU (The game said the same through the FPS counter, going between 0/1/2FPS and 98/99/100% GPU usage)
I tried to updade the drivers, but nothing
My Specs:
GTX 1080 PNY Founders Edition
16GB of Ram
Intel Core i7-7700
As I said, I never had any problems with it for days, but now
It’s literally unplayable.
I decided to get the Game Pass trial on my PC to try the game out and I’m having the exact same issue. Game runs at a constant 60 FPS (V-sync on) in Extreme settings, but as soon as a race, the game stops/starts stuttering for about a minute before it goes back to running perfectly.
Specs:
GTX 1080ti
i7 8700k
32GB DDR5 RAM
PS: It is now happening when I press Start ingame to pause the game. CPU usage spikes up to 100%, FPS tanks to 0.
Memory and GPU usage fluctuate between 40 and 60% while the game is lockdown in this state. I tried having Chrome and other stuff running at the same time and everything runs perfectly. It’s literally just the game locking up and stuttering to an unplayable state.
I have the same issues with CPU usage, I’ve been having them for nearly 2 weeks now. It doesn’t cause FPS drops for me but it causes really heavy input lag and its completely unplayable for me like that. (sometimes input doesn’t even register)
I have no performance issues except the abhorrent CPU usage that causes input lag.
I even tried playing on the lowest settings possible which changed absolutely nothing
For some reason playing with 30 fps reduced my CPU usage, but once i put it to 60 fps my CPU goes wild…there is clearly a Problem wich needs to be fixed…even did a Fresh OS install but still the same Problem! Let’s just hope one of the developers sees our Problem…
same problem. First few days after the game came out (early) it was completely fine. But at some point the lags started and now it’s constant. The game runs 70+ fps but I regularly get a framedrop that lasts a few seconds. (between 1 and 3 times per minute I think.) This makes racing very frustrating. Also, this defeats the point of having a 144Hz freesync monitor so I won’t try 30 fps. I put the game on lower settings and I got a stable 100fps, but the framedrops were exactly the same.
In Motorsport 7 I can get a stable 110fps no sweat and the first few days were smooth with Horizon 4 so some update must have messed things up.
That sounds exactly like the problem I have. When I started playing I was playing on High-Ultra without any issues or FPS drops, for around 2 weeks now however I get absolutely massive input delays of about 1-2 seconds every few seconds if I use those same settings. CPU is now constantly using 100% with those settings. Had to lower everything but some GPU exclusive things down to low or off in order to force CPU to stay at 80-95%. Even reflections on Low from Very Low makes me get the input lag again (had reflections on Ultra 3 weeks ago). https://www.howtogeek.com/fyi/millions-of-pcs-running-windows-10s-october-update-havent-received-critical-fixes/ < not sure if that has anything to do with it, if you read that you’ll notice 1 issue is “incorrect CPU read”. Maybe computers are reading 100% usage and throttling down CPU which in turn means it can’t run the game properly? not sure.
I have Core i5 4570K, 16GB RAM and GTX 970. The game runs really well most the time, however it absolutely swallows up my CPU time entirely by itself. Causing world and geometry to stop rendering when travelling too fast and prevents me from doing anything in the background like opening skype, discord, a webpage as it takes forever.
At release I was able to play for ~2 hours on ultra settings before the lags started, now I get the lags randomly - sometimes so bad that the game gets unplayable. I honestly have no idea where this is coming from, because on task manager everything is fine.
Specs:
Xeon E3-1231 V3
AMD RX 480 4GB
16GB DDR3 RAM
Game on SSD
Same occurred with me. Played hours of the game perfectly fine on high settings. Shut the game down fot 4 minutes came back and started it, boom, 5-10 fps. reinstalled the game, updated the drivers, nothings works
In game video settings are “high” @ 1920x1080
Dynamic optimization “on”
With FPS display on during game play it shows a constant 60fps with approx 60% of the GPU being used.
Background stats show the CPU as being nowhere near 100% utilisation.
CPU tanks to 100% for me aswell getting stutter after stutter once every so often which drives me crazy. I do have 2pcs with different specs the but overall not much of a difference.
First PC ( curently playing ) : Intel I5 7400, gtx 1060 3gb , 16gb ram
Second PC ( back at home ) : i5 8400 , gtx 1060 6gb , 16gb ram
The game on the second pc runs like butter no stutters at all no nothing whilst on the first one ow my my… i do notice i pattern in forza games tho since fh 3 and fm7 had the same problem is the utilization of all the cores a processor has. I havent checked since i dont have afterburner installed but i would suspect that this game is also doing that same thing , utilizing only 2 of the 4 cores , or 3 of the 6 which results in stutters. Game says optimal configuration do be set on medium while gforce exp says put everything on ulra ( on first pc ) . Pls fix
I have the same problem and it is making me mad, my pc used to run it way better than my xbox and now it is unplayable on all setting so i’m forced to use my xbox.
Hi guys, I have bought my Forza Horizon 4 two weeks ago, it is already the 1.228 version.
I read that the “Low Bandwith” problem is fixed, but for my game it is STILL happening.
Game works normally for about 30-40min every time I start playing and after that time it starts to lag more and more because of the CPU 80-90% usage.
I have received a message during the game that the map cannot load because of the low bandwith problem.
I don’t know what to do, for now the game is nearly unplayable. I am begging for help, if anyone can help me.
Games runs fine for me on old nvidia drivers, 399.24, anything newer i get all sorts of small problems with Forza, mostly micro stuttering even with vsync, or driver crashes.
The the recent Forza update my cpu usage goes to 100% at map loads, but remains around 40 to 50% during gameplay with 1 of my 1070s maxed out.
What messes me up is when the focus assist doesn’t work so windows displays notifications in game, could be anything from a email to an achievement i unlocked, then the game stutters like mad for a quite a while until i minimize the game and alt+enter to go back to fullscreen, then its fine.
Windows Game DVR tanks the fps and causes noticeably higher cpu load as it has to convert 1440p back to 1080p. Disabling the DVR (Record That) option fixed it for me.
