Rivals Challenge - FH5 Edition

M+clutch is pretty much ruined. You can’t flat foot shift. Race starts are atrocious as you have to release the clutch then get on the throttle. It’s actually a penalty now to use M+clutch

huge problem that needs fixing

If you haven’t voted yet…

but TBH I think I have lost all my faith about it. It is already 6months since that thread was created :frowning:

I’ve gotten used to it on some cars. It was done by T10 to remove power shifting but that’s still possible. Make sure to press the clutch first, then the shift button and release it before the clutch.
It’s clunky and the level of difficulty seems to depend on the car. On the F1 GT I can nearly shift as I do in Horizon while on the Diablo GTR I have to be ultra precise to avoid revbanging/time loss.
It’s such an unnecessary change by T10.

What I do like about upgrading is the amount of engine detunes for powerful cars. I detuned the Zenvo into S, the Agera RS into R and made my AMG E63 S a 1.300 kg light RWD centrifugal V6 swapped track car for A700. The engine is missing an engine sound which makes it awkward but I have won a few online lobbies and got some “cheater” messages for it.
Good stuff.

We/I need your tunes Rayne. Not sure what’s up with the game but when I scroll through tunes only the initial 5 load. Then when I pick a rival and apply their tune nothing happens???

The whole tunings/designs stuff is bugged.
My Agera, AMG and Porsche GT1 are shared. You need level 40+ on each to install it.

Thanks. I’ll definitely try them all. I just started dabbling in rivals today, mainly with a-class. Sitting outside top 50 so not doing that great but I’ll blame the tunes I’m using for now.

The AMG won’t do much on the boards. A700 is dominated by the Formula Mazda for any corner heavy track and the '97 M3.

The 911 GT1 is quite good for S800.

Had my first multiplayer race just now which I found quite fun, somehow managed to not set a qualifying time though which must mean I wasn’t paying much attention to the instructions at the beginning

I’m definitely giving those tunes a run. I’ve been using my wheel and timing the clutch gear shift is a bit trickier than with a controller. I’ve adjusted my dead zones and really no change. Race starts though are the worst. It’s definitely a disadvantage on race starts to use m+clutch.

I had one yesterday in the #93 Civic lobby with just 3 other people :joy:only happened that once but that’s so bad for a Saturday afternoon in the week of it’s full release.

That’s the only one I’ve been racing in so far really, dropped in the A class one 3 times and only raced once due to a McLaren Formula One car + Cadillac LMP being in the other 2 lobbies.

Did the Spotlight once with the Viper for an easy Racecraft achievement but can’t justify spending 200k+ credits on the KTM for the current one.

Formula Mazda + Forza TC’s are obnoxious race lengths and I can’t see the value of buying a Forza GT car yet seeing as that is the only place one is currently useful, shame as the races in that look like the best ones for me.

Civic one is great though, car’s free, it’s a nice thing to drive and it’s a completely level playing field.

I went and pulled down FM too, and have been having a lot more fun with it than I ever thought would be possible given my general view of track locked games. And I haven’t really done any thing other than drive my cars around and tune them up on the test track till I topped them out for the needed races. Only complete the intro series the first builders cup series so far. I’m really digging the lower class cars right now, attempted to try the high-powered RWD cars, and had to nope right back out of all that. …not ready for that quite yet. Just mostly building up my cars and messing around at the moment.

The civic really does drive well. I’ve not tested too many cars yet but that one is a keeper.

It’s not 100% obvious that you have to go into the menu and start your qualifying laps well before the practice time runs out. Which also means you want to not be joining a session just before practice ends.

Do you have a suggested tune for the Mazda? It’s what I’m currently using. Out of the 5 tunes I could try only 1 was good but felt bit stiff round corners. Others seemed to have oil rubbed on back tires.

I think we all have done that :joy:

Does anyone know if there’s any rivals comps yet in FM? Or if @Jezza14 will start one? Hint hint nudge nudge

Currently I’m more interested in experimenting with cars that I like or suspect to have some cool builds.
Takes a lot of time to bring those to 40+ (have went with afk leveling on Suzuka).
Thus, I’ve not bought the Formula Mazda yet. Have never been into the obvious meta stuff.

Do you ever use TC? I’m currently finding I need to for a-class or higher.

No, never. Only went with ABS this time because it doesn’t negatively impact brake performance anymore. You only have to increase brake pressure.
