If I’m correct, most are from FM7. But, that’s okay. Some of them look great. And, besides - the new painting system allows for a whole new range of possibilities.
I know this isn’t a wishlist thread, but on the subject of wheels, there are two things i would like to see…first some totally NEW wheels that have never been in any previous Forza game. I mean it’s nice that they added the missing wheels from FM7, but after 4 Horizon games and 7 Motorsport games, you’d think a few new rim styles would show up eventually. Second, I would love to be able to use stock wheels on other cars. A good example would be the jelly bean wheels from the Chrysler Valiant Charger. I would love to have those available to put on other musclecars. The digital models are in the game, they would just need to develop a menu to access them.
They might also need licensing approval to allow users to put one manufacturer’s rims on another manufacturer’s car. “But the engine swaps…” are not labeled and not visibly linked to the manufacturer. That seems like a trickier situation with visible rims. Maybe not, but “they would just” may not be the only hurdle they’d need to overcome.
They have BBS rim licensing… the BBS RM’s are the default wheels given on the VW Mk2 Golf GTi however it would be really nice if you could make this wheel available to use on other cars please?
Also why have the BBS RM’s but not the BBS RS 001’s or 042’s? it’s simply a different center cap so surely the license issue can’t be a factor.
I believe she was referring to the ability to use the same manufacturers rims on their other cars. For example, the '93 Mustang Cobra’s turbine rims on the '93 Cobra R. Same manufacturer, just different rims from a lesser trim of the same car.
Licensing is a factor. If they don’t have a license to use BBS RS001 or RS042 rims, then they cannot put them in the game, regardless if the only difference is a center cap.
No, I meant be able to use any stock wheels from any stock car on any other car, regardless of make…like using the jelly bean wheels from the Chrysler Valiant Charger on my Holden Monaro. If remember correctly, Gran Turismo 4 had this feature. You could go into the wheel shop and have a rotating selection of every stock wheel design from every car in the game.
Seems an odd way to manage the licenses, I guess they’ve been agreed/distributed across certain cars on how they were offered as a spec from the factory which prevents us using all the rim/wheel options across the entire estate of the cars.
The wheel selection is great aside from that though and the latest editions along with the painting ability, although a minor change makes a huge impact on the enjoyment of customizing a car so I’m thank-full for that :).
@ManteoMax
Although the paint pattern differs depending on the wheel, are you considering adding paint pattern data to this wheel list?
I found at least 1 to 5 different paint patterns.
For example, Halibrand Indy can only paint inner barrel, Hole Shot Wheels Hole Star has 5 paint patterns.
I have already started working on the list you’re asking about (various paint groups used on different wheels). I’m about a third done with it now. If Max doesn’t add this data to his list, I’ll upload a spreadsheet.
Add a filter to wheels! Too be able to filter the wheels by weight, spokes, make colour, and anything else we can think of would be so helpful.
I get fed up with scrolling through the 3 (now larger) pages of rims to find ones that look decent, that would also raise or lower the rating by a point or 2.
