Forza will seriously need to listen to the community about new rims for the fact that we’ve had pretty much the same rims ever since Forza 3 or even earlier than that. It was disappointing to see the same rims from Forza 4 and Horizon carry on in to Forza 5 while some were removed too. (e.g Zender, Lorinser). I would love to see new rims and tweaks to current ones in Forza Horizon 2. Mostly mesh rims and adjustments to other rims so they actually have some dish in them and more.
Another request would be something like Need for Speed’s Autosculpt where you can change certain dimensions for rims. This is a far reach but it would be nice to have something like that in the future. That’s all I’m really saying and I just felt like bringing it up since I’m getting disappointed by the variety of rims in the game.
I totally agree with you. that has been one of my biggest gripes since FM4. In the real world, the wheels are usually first thing to be upgraded/changed for anyone wanting to customize their car. Wheels also make one of the biggest impacts on how a car looks. It gets old using the same 10 wheels that look good on most cars. Adjustable offset would be a welcome addition too, even if wheels do not change.
If any Forza game deserves new wheels, it should be the Horizon series. How fun would it be to see stanced vehicles with extreme camber and offset in the Car Clubs?
Also about licensing is just pure Rubbish… who would not want their rims to be on Forza… if not just for the publicity of having them… its marketing… not licensing… its about money. But no one here can tell me that they cant get new rims… that’s just pure BS.
Why would a company not want their rims to be in Forza? For the same reasons why Porsche don’t want to be involved with the franchise. They look for where they can get the most exposure, and a game across 4 platforms (Need For Speed) will get more exposure than a game exclusive to one company (Forza.) I’m not knocking anyone’s decisions or opinions, but when you look at it from a business point of view it makes logistical sense.
I’d love to see new HRE, classic BBS and Enkei, and some Rotiform and ADV.1 wheels in the game. But it’s not very likely to happen, because 90% of Forza’s userbase is fine with the current choices, and licensing is expensive.
Aas far as I know many brands being requested here (like Rotiform and ADV.1) aren’t currently featured in any game. Besides, there are two points that go against this reasoning:
Exclusive licensing deals are expensive, and I don’t see EA paying much to ensure they’re the only one that can use a specific brand of rims in their games;
Wheels producers should be looking for the maximum exposure in their target- which is, people that may spend >2000 dollars on a set of wheels. Need for Speed may give a wheel manufacturer more exposure, but it won’t significantly improve their sales.
This, of course, is all speculation, a wild guess. But hey, that applies for pretty much everything in this 3d.
What could solve the problem is Playground designing and creating their own rims. No licensing issues, more work for artists/designers, happier customers. I would love to see new rims show up as well.
Not saying it’s a great idea but there are real life manufacturers copycatting other company designs almost completely. Now, if you’re Google/Samsung/Apple, it usually ends up in court but in the world of rims there are copycats all over the place. Ofcourse a game publisher has to play by the book but I see no harm really in making/programming a rim-style that is 98% based on an unlicensed brand and add 2% of their own imagination to it.
As a prime example: Volk / Rota / XXR have been making rims independently from eachother yet some of their products look eerily alike.
I agree. Heading into the next generation of gaming with Forza Horizon, this would seem to be a good time to bring in an improved selection of finely detailed wheels .
Forza’s weakness is the rims as far as accurately modeled. You can expect the same quality and selection carried onto Horizon 2 as well. They like to model the same rim for some of cars that have different sized of wheels front and back. For example the offset on the Enzo’s back rim is the same as the front which is totally inaccurate. It is strange to see the brake rotor move in and out when your upgrade tire width. It is oppose to be next gen and they could not model two different offset rims on the same car. They tried to correct the Zonda obviously but did a poor job hiding that the back rim was the front render with a deeper offset.
This topic makes me mad every time it is brought up.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up. You can see in the trailer for Horizon 2 that Playground has the ten year old Rota five spokes on the R34 Skyline.
They already use Enkei, Volk, HRE, Work, Wedsport, BBS, Advan and Gramlights wheels. Except the models they’re using are in some cases not even manufactured anymore. I mean they have licensing with these companies. Can they not get the new products?
It would be nice if they could replace the Work CRKai with the updated Work Kiwami or update the Volk TE37’s so they don’t have the 1990’s Volk Racing Sticker on them.
The biggest gripe I have is not being able to adjust offset. I mean you can put 300mm plus tyres on a wheel with stock offset on a car that came with 225mm stock? Sorry but that is pure fantasy and for a company as dedicated to realism as Turn 10 they should have added offset into the updgrade/tuning system years ago.
I’d love to have the option to add vinyls onto wheels also.
Back in Fm4 when you upgraded the tyre width, the rims would get deeper or more concave. That is removed in FM5 and that sucks, doesn’t make sense. Also the rim models are really bad (most of them at least) and are unaccurate.
This has been my biggest visual complaint for FM5. As beautiful as 5 is this feature is a major step backwards graphically. Even jagged, many wheels look better in FM4 than FM5.
