Renault Clio Williams Confirmed (Again)

If you skip to 1.50 he says that Turn 10 have modelled this car for the ‘Next Generation’, so this backs up the article that they mentioned this in a few months back, and i personally cant wait to drive this in game :).

Didn’t somebody post an article about that car a couple of months ago?

Yeah i know, this is just further backing that article up.

Well it could be that it will end up being in Horizon 2 also since they weren’t specific about which game it will be in. The actual scanning probably was done by Playground Games since they are based in the UK just like EVO.

Wait, the people behind Horizon are from the UK ? I can just imagine them making it more of a UK car scene this time around, Novas, MK1 right up to MK5 Escorts, MK1 to 3 Astras, Cavaliers, Williams Clio, 205s and 309s etc, obviously it wouldn’t happen, but it’d be wicked.

Yeah Playground Games are based in Royal Leamington Spa, UK. But not sure if it will have more of a UK car scene then the first one since its rumored to take place in the deep south of the US. Now that I think about it some more the car would also make a lot of sense for Forza 5 it would fit in well with the other hatchbacks in the game. Hopefully it will end up in both games since the first Horizon didn’t have any Renault’s this car would be good choice as one of the first cars from that brand in Horizon. The first game did have a good mix of UK cars even though it had a limited roster of cars especially with having the 2012 Bowler EXR-S and the 2012 Eagle Speedster (I know its a US company but the car is based on a classic Jaguar E-Type Convertible).

Lol. Would be funny seeing the novas being driven with drivatards in baseball caps as oppose to helmets

Arent these the same people that said Nürburgring would be released as DLC in January?

Not as far as I know the video is from EVO a UK based automotive magazine, website and YouTube channel. Anyway they showed the actual car in their latest YouTube video and will have a article about the process in their upcoming print magazine.

EVO are also that UK based automotive magazine that ‘Leaked’ that the nurburgring would be appearing in Forza 5 in January. I don’t think Turn 10 will be wanting to associate with EVO much anymore.

Also, I will pretty Suprised to see this car as a dlc car for Forza 5 to be honest. Going by past DLC for this game, the most ‘New’ cars we have had in one pack is 3. Unless they going to have more than just 3 new cars in a car pack, do you think they would take up a space with this? Honestly, I’d really hope not.

Horizon just seems more right in my eyes.

Didn’t know that thanks for the info. The car would be a good fit for both 5 and Horizon 2. Would fit in nicely with the hatchbacks that are already in 5 and would be a nice fit to be one of the first Renault’s for the Horizon franchise since the first game didn’t have any. Actually all the cars in the EVO video that feature the Renault would be a nice fits for Forza games I especially like the Seat in that video and the special edition Kia Ceed of course the Porsche’s and all the other cars are nice also. If I lived in the UK I would definitely pick up that upcoming magazine that describes the scanning method for that car. Most of the DLC for Forza has been somewhat leaked in one way or another so I doubt that Turn10 is to upset at EVO. I knew about Road America two weeks before it was released and Long Beach a week before it was released.

I posted about it initially.

It was this car that was photographed http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/259222/renault_clio_williams.html

A photographer got on a plane from the US and went to EVO offices to take the pics. They took about 1000 photos over 2 hours and then left. Photog was Drew Larrigan. It wasn’t a leak. There is a full page with photos of what happened. Its on page 120 of Mar14

I’m curious about when the pictures were taken? Couldn’t find the article in that link. Were the photos taken on the 14th of March or sooner?

Reason I ask is that, if the pics were taken on the 14th of March and it takes up to 6 months to model the car, it won’t come to Forza 5 unless there’s a September pack.

“Up to” six months.

T10 themselves have said that smaller cars with fewer details are easier to model, and the Clio Williams certainly qualifies.

I’m personally excited, I love little hatchbacks like that and I think it’s a worthy addition to the FM5 roster. I just wish T10 added more cars like that- small, cheap speed from the 80s and 90s.

I get the digital version of evo as well. The digital article was released in mid January and in the March hard copy which gets delivered beginning of February. So photos were taken right at the beginning of the year some time.

Thanks for the update. This means it could come very soon after all. We’ll wait and see.

Um…yes that’s what said…up to 6 months. This may be a smaller car but Turn 10 has to start from scratch. Based on past DLC history, they will be modeling the engine/engine bay/interior for Forzavista. This is a more complicated design then most people realize. Based on my design experience, I would be surprised if it took them less than 80% to 90% of the 6 month time period.

Either way, since the pics were taken in January, we could see it soon as I said above.

Nice this probably means that someone from Turn10 did it and that the car will be in a future DLC for 5. Still think there is probably a good chance that is will be in Horizon 2 also but first the game has to be officially announced.

Might just be a traffic car in another Horizon installment. Im probably dead wrong, but you never know.

I’m probably wrong though since the traffic car names that show up on the online leaderboards (2500 cargo van shows up instead of 33 stradale) imply to me another american based horizon game.

Wonder if we’re gonna see this…

It’d be nice to think so, not just for the car itself, but for the potential F1 tie-in (COTA, 80s/90s Grand Prix body type categories, etc). If nothing else hope we get one last DLC chucking together all the stuff that didn’t find its way into a themed pack for whatever reason, but I’m sure everything is more or less FM6-focused at T10 now, and will be completely once Horizon 2 is out. That might seem like bad news now but hopefully we’ll be thanking them heartily next year when FM6 has all the content we can imagine.
