welcome to Forza Horizon 4! where you can win every single event but be considered lower skill because you team was stuck drooling at the start line. i don’t know why they decided to make ranked a team thing without an option for solo play, this is a racing game not a first person shooter, there is literally nothing i can do about the skill of my teammates, so why should that affect my skill rating in the game?
another issue with ranked is that they decided to implement it without addressing the biggest issue that has plagued Forza Motorsport since it first came to Xbox live. the griefing in this game is terrible, not only do i have to deal with griefers on the opposing team, i also have to deal with them on my team, just because someone doesn’t know how to setup a car doesn’t mean i should have to be put in a house or tree while trying to pass them. at least Forza 7 offered a ghost mode for a lot of its league races
dev’s i know you are busy dealing with server issues, what with people randomly getting disconnected, entering infinite loading screens, and taking half an hour to find a ranked match only for the game to cancel it because someone lost connection. but please for the sake of the players who enjoy this game, play it for the racing and are actually good at it, give us a ghost mode, give us a solo mode, give us a Forza ranked league we can all enjoy without fear of other players ruining our races.
Its been nice to play for a week, but I will go back to playing FH3 with all its crashes. The online is terrible and there is nothing to inspire me to keep playing FH4. If they fixed online, it would be the only game I play.
I think a ghost mode is a good idea, however it’s supposed to, as I believe, encourage team play and creativity, you can pull off some interesting moves with teammate collisions (a teammate using a AWD car behind a more skilled RWD racer to give them a bump at the start to prevent losing 4 positions and having to fight the pack to regain pole position is one example I’ve done) I also believe they’re trying to encourage more social team and community building, getting the faster racers into teams so they can win more often, maybe trying to start eSports to bring more to the casual side of Forza on a hardcore level, I don’t know. I like the ghost idea but I think they have their own plans with the game, we just have to be patient and trust the process, however frustrating it is.
I haven’t even been able to get into a ranked game yet. Either it disconnects me as soon as I find a game or it just never finds a game. What a bummer so far!
If this is “ranked” Trucks/SUV’s need to be banned asap for anything other than Cross country events. More often than not large vehicle users aren’t there to race fair, the ones who are probably wouldn’t mind.
why is it that i’m the only person to finish the race but i lose skill rating because the rest of my team cant race. this isnt skill based, this isnt fun, frankly this is an insult to anyone who would ever want to take ranked racing seriously.
The problem is making a ranked mode in a game that… isn’t really all that suited for anything “ranked”.
Custom Rivals will probably (hopefully) come back with the improvements to the Blueprint editor, but these issues with online play will require some more effort on Playground’s part, including acknowledging there’s a problem in the first place, considering they flat out ignore many other issues with the franchise itself.
In fact, if they look back, NFS in the 2000s showed you can fall from grace in a span of just two years…
that’s it, i give up, 3 ranked adventures, 9 podiums including 7 victories and a net loss of rank due to incompetent teammates. it has become painfully clear to me that team Forza has abandon their core audience. no longer is Forza Motorsport and Forza horizon a celebration of cars and friendly competitive racing, made by people who love cars, for people who love cars. sadly it has fallen to (most likely) corporate greed and has become a game for the Fortnite kids. i loved this series, iv’e played every game since Forza Motorsport 3, i even went back to play the older titles when i got older. i still have a copy of Forza Motorsport 1 sitting in my collection. i REALLY wanted to make this the first game that i played ranked seriously, but the dev’s no longer care about people like me, they no longer care for the people who pour their hearts and souls into the racing genre, they no longer care about racing, they no longer care about Motorsport. they only care about what gets sales and what gets advertisers for the pro scene.
i’m going to keep playing rivals and play with streamers that i watch and friends that i’ve made. However, unless they fix the state the game is in, i’m done taking this franchise seriously. Forza 7 was a total mess, the leagues were decent when they had the ghost modes, but other than that and custom lobbies the multiplayer was broken and almost unplayable. I do commend Turn 10 for sticking with the game and making it better. but for now Forza isn’t a pinnacle of racing games, its just another NFS clone.
i understand if you don’t agree with me and you view things differently. after all, this is just the ranting of one player in the eyes of Microsoft.
Well you are complaining about something that plagues every game, aka bad teammates. You do have the option to make friends and play with better players. This will overall improve the fun factor for many people because playing with equally skilled players often makes the game more enjoyable.
The only thing worth fixing right now is fixing ranked matchmaking for 2+ player convoys. I don’t mind bullies or crashers on an arcade racing game. You just have to keep calm and make quick overtakes, and always being ready to be hit is also good even if it is your clueless teammate. I overall have had fun playing ranked team adventures and also unranked. I don’t really enjoy the free roam rushes, but if you play it smart these can be quite fun. I think my record on ranked is 10-2. I have quickly made friends with other people who are top 40s, and we usually are now playing together.
I think the team part is the biggest issue, what purpose does a team serve in ranked play. The only benefit would be that a terrible player could get carried to GM. But at the moment people who can podium regularly are getting burdened by their terrible teammates. Why not eliminate the team element and make it: The top half of the field gets a boost to rank, and the back half lose rank. Run the adventures championship style with a point system based on placement.
They released that game last year, its called Forza 7.
Seriously if that is what you want in a game you shouldn’t even be considering the Horizon series as that goes against the entire premise of the game :).
I love Forza and enjoy that Horizon is something different. The fact that they are on a Tic-Toc schedule gives things a nice change of pace each year.
How sure i was speaking about adventure sure, in Forza Horizon 3 when you were looking for adventure you could choose an option to desactivate collision and everyone was ghost
It is a bit weird to disable collisions for speed zones, drift zones and Forzathon but not in multiplayer, where they arguably have the biggest negative impact. It’s probably not helping that players in free roam are trained to just drive through other players.
I have the same opinion. In every race more than a half of players just rams at you every possible occasion. They cannot pass me by their skills, speed or good cornering, no, they will ram you to the moment you crash on some rock or miss a checkpoint. It is not possible to have a good start in a race because on the very first corner they just drive at full speed straight to the wall, hoping they will bounce back and pass you somehow. But that just makes them and me drop a few positions in a race. They sometimes even dont care if they crash themselves, the sole purpose is just to make you lose the race and angry.
