Racing Through Time: The Forza Legacy [History, Guides, and More]

Original Sound Track/Music
Forza has always had a way to immerse their drivers into the game, by trying to give a realistic yet controllable experience for all users and be ahead of its time in physics and graphics, bu thats not all that help bring in the immersion. We also can thank the music as well as their composers. As the music is carefully chosen to help boost your adrenaline and works side by side in high speed racing. It really helps set the mood. It is far more than just something in the background; it is essential as it helps increase your overall experience.

Starting off with the very first Forza title in the franchise, Forza Motorsport 1. Forza Motorsport 1 consisted of mainly music from the rock, alternative, and electro genres respectively. JunkieXL, also known as Tom Holkenborg was a dutch composer/producer and teacher who would create the majority of Forza Motorsport 1’s Original Sound Track. The only ones he didn’t necessarily create (He remixed them) are Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group, Iron Man by Black Sabbath, and La Grange by ZZ Top. Sadly, this is the only Forza title where JunkieXL would produce his music (minus 1 remix in Forza Motorsport 2). He would later expand his knowledge and work on mainly movies. Such as the New Sonic the Hedgehog Movies, Scoob!, and even Godzilla Vs. Kong. That isnt the end of his ost gaming career though, with some occasional creations; a recent gaming title Skulls n Bones.

Next, we have Lance Hayes also known as Dj Drunken Master was a huge help within the Forza Franchise. Who has had their music showcased from Forza Motorsport 3 to Forza Motorsport 5. Their music is extremely incredible! In Forza Motorsport 3 their music was ambient, vibrant, and packed with energy allowing you to immerse yourself within the game while keeping your cool. Forza Motorsport 4 and 5 their music still followed this same trend; except it was more on the electronic/rock side of the spectrum. One of his Forza Soundtracks was so good it even got featured in a McDonalds Advertisement (Click here to access the video). Lance Hayes is also a composer and a teacher for the “Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program.” He has also worked on several different projects from music for Gears of War 3, Xbox Fitness, and even a Disney Talking Tiara/Crown. Lance Hayes was also featured in a book known as “Beep: A Documentary History of Game Sound” by Karen Collins and Chris Greening.

Beep was a book that featured 100s of different composers and producers and had them talk about their career and working within the industry. It also helps you learn alot more about gaming history in general as it lets you learn about how they felt working in the gaming industry.

Third, with the Introduction of Forza Motorsport 5 as Lance Hayes final (most recent) send off with the franchise. We also had a new composer/producer for the first time in a while in the Forza Franchise. Lets welcome John Broomhall to the stage! Although this isn’t John Broomhalls first time within the franchise (He actually was a voice director in Forza Motorsport 4 for Jeremy Clarkson!!); his era of music within the Forza Franchise started with Forza Motorsport 5.

Forza Motorsport 1 Limited Edition
Seemingly really hard to find any documentation on. After some searching I found a photo of a coverart selling. (https://www.kaptenkrok.se/product/xbox-forza-motorsport-limited-edition-beg/) Thats about the best visual representation I can find. If anyone has a physical copy please message me!! Discord: Oliver023#4880, Xbox: Oliver0023. It came with notes from the developers supposedly and had a cinematic called Xcelerator. The Official Forza Wiki seems to have this section blank so it took a ton of searching (https://forza.fandom.com/wiki/Forza_Motorsport/Limited_Edition).

Staff and Development Teams

Development Teams
Turn 10 Studios is the studio that started it all. The studio was established in 2001 located at Redmond, Washington and was created as the 1st party developer for racing games with the first title in the series released in 2005. They are known for the Forza Motorsport Series but also do alot of collaboration for Forza Horizon as well. More notably the ForzaTech Engine that is used by Playground Games for Forza Horizon and the Upcoming Fable title. The ForzaTech engine has shown up in many situations even supposedly in Microsoft Flight Simulator. As their company’s CEO mentioned in development, they had to master the ForzaTech Engine. In which they had support from “Turn 10 to learn the physics, photo-realism, density, and base structure of the ForzaTech Engine, which was slightly modified to support the large load of data” (Source For Later Bibliography).

Playground Games was established in 2010 and are known for the Forza Horizon side of Forza and Fable on the way. There are 3 studios amongst Playground Games located in Leamington Spa. The studios first contribution wasn’t actually Forza. It was helping give support towards DJ Hero 2.

Moderators and Race Marshals
Forza Moderators are members who voluntarily help maintain a positive, clean and welcoming environment across multiple Official Forza Platforms. These Official Platforms consists of the Twitch Channel, Discord Channel and the Forums Channels. Some Moderators moderate for all of these channels whilst some only moderate for a few. Responsibilities of moderators typically involve monitoring conversations, enforcing community guideliness, addressing inappropriate behavior, assisting other players with help when possible (We are NOT Official Support members), and ensuring that topics remain constructive and on topic. We also act as a bridge between the player community and the Forza team, helping to relay important information.

Forza Race Marshals are members who also voluntarily help. As part of their role they have the ability to monitor and help regulate multiplayer lobbies, taking action against disruptive behavior such as intentional ramming or unsportsmanlike conduct by removal. Race Marshals also have a direct line of communication with Turn 10 and Playground Games. This connection allows them to escalate serious issues, such as inappropriate vinyls or liveries displayed publicly i.e., ensuring that these cases are reviewed by the Enforcement team for possible further action. Typically, most Race Marshals are Moderators as well, but this is not always the case.
