Pids Stuff-caption my photo, see post #25

As Mechberg has started one then why not give it a go myself. I will be posting all my stuff forza related in here, cars I’ve slapped together myself and also cars that others have done that I have liked. I will use this as a sort of diary / blog of my time on Forza 5.

I’ve been a fan of all types of motorsport for many (too many, I’m old) years now and have never missed an F1 race since the early '80s. Growing up in the '80s meant that I saw the start of early racing games on early computers and consoles and loved them all. I was a massive fan of GT but it wasn’t until 2007 and a change in my life situation that lead to me buying an xbox 360 and Forza 2. I have never looked back and met some truely great people in that time, we spent many days and nights playing forza 2,3 and 4, sometimes without sleep for days and looking forward to many more years of doing the same on Forza 5, 6 and 20.

I have got to know some of the great talented artists on forza over the years and will showcase a lot of their stuff here to show my appreciation of their work. I dabble in the paint booth after spending a lot of time being told I can do it (it’s been 7 years guys, I can’t). I can tune a half decent tune by moving the sliders one way or another and see what it does, if it works and is quick then that’s good enough for me. Occasionally I’ll stumble on a quick car and get others to try them out, normally I get the response of it’s like driving on ice, I can drive them quick guys you’ve just got to use my driving line

Things to come,
I’ll be posting any cars that I paint, friends paint and anything I stumble across on the forums from people I don’t know but like their work.
Any tunes that I do or my friends do, warning: I frequently go back to my tunes and adjust these quite often hopefully for the better, feedback is always welcome on how they drive,
I will be attempting photos and with a little help videos, in addition to forza photos I will also post some of my better real life motorsport photos, again feedback is always welcome

So after a very brief history of who I am in the forza world here’s what I’ve done so far

Betty, my first try in the Forza 5 editor and even appeared in OXM (I think it was a misprint) , not gone much further with this but may go back to it. There is also a D-class tune for this that isn’t to shabby

For my good friend Hoss, Emo Bear, done this just to stop him telling me that I should do this car again. A-class tune is up for this one

Haynes of Maidstone rally escort, another D-class tune for this one

Boba Fett - Paint by Trailmonster - this one I tuned for A-class

Fredits - Paint by Mimic - C-class tune from me

Titanfall - Paint by Kctigerfan - tune A-class by Goose8674

Looking good Pid!

Appears Hoss likes tormenting his friends to remake previous designs because he’s hounded me as well to redo The Gimp, a design that should likely never see the light of day again.

Sounds like a pretty good thread here mate. I can’t wait to see more of this!

Thanks for the comments guys, won’t be to many paints from me, I promise, I enjoy the tuning more than painting. I’ll be going through my tunes later and list the ones I think are finished with a few times. Unlike some that find the leader board with very few times I like to see where I stand against the masses and will post how I compare against those.

Right on Pid.

Hopefully ill stumble across some little gems from you doing this

It’s been a busy week, real life work commitments getting in the way of xbox time don’t you just hate it when that happens.

After having the doors blown off my little D-class '65 mini by MiMiC on Prague short reverse using TG Wormburners tune I decided to go back and have a rethink. It proved to be quite profitable and I managed to set a good time at both Prague and Laguna Seca, I’ll update the times shortly. Would love some feedback from anyone that wants to give it a try.

I’ve also been out there testing a B-class tune on a Acura Integra for Trailmonsters up coming star wars paint, hopefully I’ll have that finished later today for people to try out along with a few more photos of more community paints

I’ve been waiting a little while for Trailmonster to finish this paint but finally after seeing the first wip it has arrived not long after completing the tune for it. I’ve been slowly working on a B-class tune and finally got my target time of under 1:11.000 at Silverstone International achieved, it took a lot of rebuilds and a lot of laps but eventually I hit 1:10.849. It may not be to every ones liking but hopefully some of you out there may have a similar driving style to me and set some good times with it. Trails done a great job on the paint even with the pressure from an impatient tuner, now all he’s gotta do is learn how to drive it, you’ve just got to use “Pid’s racing line” Trail and you’ll get there :D.

Go pick up the paint and tune from Trailmonster and my sharefront and leave some feedback if you would, if you like it or if it’s not for you, I’ve heard worse from Trail when he’s been testing my tunes

Search Trailmonster for the paint
Search PID1969 for the tune

Finally a long awaited update of the multi player replays, I’m so glad that we are now able to view replays and take photos from multi player sessions, let the fun begin.

First off Trailmonster and myself went to Prague in his 2 Star wars cars Boba Fett DS3 and Hoth Integra, plenty of locations with great backgrounds, all we’ve got to do trail is get to them without hitting anything, hmmmm that went well

I’d like to say the tandem drift was planned, of course it was we are pros

Did you know there was boats traveling up and down the river at Prague, I didn’t

After Prague we jetted back to the UK to Silverstone to get a couple of shots of our RS1800 Escorts and shoot some video footage for an upcoming video (fingers crossed on that one), unfortunately my Haynes Escort broke down on route and I switched to the backup

Still time in the day for one more photo session for me but it was way passed Trails bedtime and it was too cold for him down in the Alps, off I went to get that one shot for this weeks photo comp, hopefully this will catch someones eye

So it’s been a long day of testing and taking photos, I get home sit down with my 4 cups of coffee and 2 packets of cigarettes and notice parked in my garage a surprise delivery, looks like I’ll be out test driving again tomorrow, just got to change the oil, now where shall I take this beauty

… FANTASTIC!!! I was in the middle of starting another race when i saw Kctigerfan’s Titanfall Skyline on here and backed out just to 1) purchase the car and 2) get the design!!! Woot!!!

Keep watching this space, after I finish my working week on Monday night I’m jetting off to Yas Marina for a 3 day test session, trying out some new metal, just gotta get them packed up and ready to ship

nice thread pid, good read, I need to test out a few of ur toons, havnt drove 1 of urs for a while, great mp shots too, lovin the star wars drift pic

I’ve packed away some cars and sent them off to Yas Marina for 3 days of testing, hopefully to find some more quick cars or just fun to drive cars

Yas Marina Day 1

Initially day 1 was going to be a shake down of all the cars that I planned to test, fine tweak the tunes and get them ready for day 2, setting some times. As always I got side tracked with the BMW Z8 that I tucked in at the last minute (and pizza), starting in C-class stock I ran it without any upgrades and thought it was a fun little car to drive. With that I took it back to the workshop and added a few upgrades to make it C-class competitive with some pretty good results. The result being a fairly good handling car with good speed down the straights.

Times I hear you say, well this is how it stood up against all the rest of C-class, I’m not the quickest driver so maybe someone else could put it higher.

Yas Full 2:34.337 346 / 471051
Yas North 1:21.614 332 / 33405
Yas South 1:09.479 370 / 1191612
Yas Alt 2:17.385 312 / 125078

Personally I think this car can be knocking on the doors of some of the top cars in the right hands of course

Day 2: Yas Marina

After a day of running the C-class Z8 it was time for a rebuild and get to my original plan of running some B-class cars, ok, a day late and the pizza was cold, I managed to run a few cars on the Yas Marina South circuit.

First off was the Z8, rebuilt from the C-class tune of yesterday. Handled pretty well with a little bit of over steer, but turned out to be my favorite of the day, I thought at first it would be the quickest but I was proven wrong.

Second and probably the most surprising of all the cars I run was the 2012 Dodge Charger, for a heavy muscle car this one was very stable and only stepped out when I really pushed it out of corners.

Third out on the track was the Corvette Z06, not personally my favorite and the slowest of the bunch. Probably more suited for the drifting section and not suiting my driving style, maybe a revisit to the tuning shop and I could make this one quicker.

Fourth, the Alfa Romeo 8C, this one came along because I like the look of the car, not the quickest or best handling but put in a respectable time.

Last and the fastest of the bunch the Acura Integra, painted by Trailmonster, this one was probably the easiest of the bunch to get around the track and shows in the time I was able to set.

Yas Marina South
Acura Integra 1:06.608
BMW Z8 1:06.982
Dodge Charger '12 1:07.572
Alfa Romeo 8c 1:07.971
Corvette Z06 1:09.043

It’s been a fun day running these, got some credits and managed to get BMW to affinity 25 in the process and on to tomorrow, what shall I run, if anyone wants me to try out their tunes post what car and I’ll give it a go if I have time after I’ve done a bit of clothes shopping whilst I’m here

Day 3 all done, A-class running at Yas Marina. At first it looked like the Lotus Exige would top the times but eventually it was the Caterham that came out on top at all variants of Yas Marina. I then purchased more cars and tunes from the local Forza showroom to see if I could find a quicker car. Not successful in finding anything the test went on into the night, I wanted to push the Caterham more. TG Wormburner showed up and gave a little insight on how to shave a few more tenths off the time, eventually finishing off at 3:30am with a time of 1:01.802 placing #71 on the leaderboard, thanks for the help Worm.

So all done at Yas Marina and onto the next circuit, wonder where I’ll end up

I hadn’t planned to go anywhere this week but with the addition of Road America and the challenge of beating RBW Triton in the CBH rival event it would of been rude not to spend at least an hour giving it a try, 5 days later and 3/10ths off of Tritons time my hands hurt. How many people hit the tyre wall going down the straight after the carousel on their first lap of the alt circuit. So 1 more day and hopefully I can pull out a few more 10th’s and beat the time.

Just a few shots of the Viper on Road America

excellent read pid, I wouldn’t mind running a few tunes if your sharing and lovin those shots of the viper, very nice
