Racing game pet peeve's

  1. The Newbie:
The guys/gals who don’t actually play the game, but yet jump online and race. They are road hazards and either always to slow clogging up the racing line or crashing constantly and spinning out in the turns causing road blocks.

I’ve always been the type to usually complete the game to 100% or at least 75% before jumping online to race. Why? Because through game play you learn all the races fairly well. You also end up driving majority of the cars and know their handling capabilities. It’s also respective to other players not to be learning how to race/drive a particular car through online play, being the idiot in everyone’s way or causing others to T-bone you in a turn because you can’t control your car.

  1. The Tantrum Throwers:
These are the guys/gals who can’t win a race or place decently, so they switch into camacazzie mode and try taking out anyone who attempts passing them or gives up using their brakes to smash you off the road in hopes they don’t get tangled up with you and can continue on. Or they try reporting you because they think your cheating because your fast and either win a lot or podium every race.

[Mod edit - WSD -Offensive and racist]

  1. The Comedian:
These are the guys/gals with the headsets on always talking themselves up about how fast they are. They have an excuse every time they didn’t place first and usually try blaming others for their shortfall.

Once I get warmed up and in the zone, I love racing these type. Why? Usually they try racing clean because let’s face it, clean is always faster. And it tickles my fancy when I start beating them and I get to hear their hilarious explanation’s of why they didn’t win. Or hearing them become dead silent, and usually drop out of the room shortly after becoming silent. I get a real kick out of it.

  1. The Club Clan Bullies:
These are the guys/gals that role into a room “Clubbed Up” and try keeping anyone from winning races through “Dirty Racing” (blocking, smashing, purposely spinning others out). These type can be very annoying and I’ll usually back out of a room like that or if I’m feeling frisky I’ll give it my all to take on the challenge of winning and forcing your clan to drop into another room to try your “Bullying” there.

Now about my racing style:
I will do everything in my power to run clean, I’ve ventured off the road many times to avoid hitting/rubbing fenders with OTHER CLEAN racers.

I’m not the fastest guy in the world, but once I’m in my “zone” I will give you a run for your money!! You won’t hear me on my mic “Bragging” about how fast I am, the only thing you will hear from me usually is an apology for rubbing fenders or if I get smashed into you by some clown who can’t drive their car. Occasionally if I’ve been online for a while and been in many rooms with the so called types of drivers listed above, you might hear me going off on those types.

I try to be a modest racer and if you put down a good lap time in a circuit race or we have a sick clean tight run, I’ll give you a props call out and congratulate you on our race or skilled lap time.

One last thing you will catch me doing. If you have been a driver who likes to bump & grind everyone in the room in your attempts to win a race in multiple races and have the gumption to stick around the room after numerous people have called you out… well let’s just say I will give up my goal of podium’s and make you my sole mission lol. Your gonna find yourself off in the weeds a lot or wrapping your car around tree’s, pole’s or imprinted into walls. Not to mention if I’m online in FH1, I’m most likely in a room with a few friends and you might find yourself “boxed in” or pondering to yourself why in the world is there 3-5 guys all over me. Clue to you is… either you need to clean your act up or it’s gonna be a long day for you.

I understand your frustrations. I have seen them too many times. There isn’t a lot you can do about the ‘bad’ drivers. You can block them and report them. I’ve had some success with that in Motorsport 5.

I think you need to relax your driving style in Horizon. Your driving style is great for Motorsport. In Horizon you need to trade paint occasionally. I’m not talking about ramming people or forcing them off the road. I’m talking about holding your line and bumping other cars. If you can avoid them, great, but don’t penalize yourself. I’m not going to yell at you for bumping me, that is racing. I appreciate your apology but it isn’t necessary. I’m going to yell at you for ramming me or taking me out of the race. However, if it was an accident and you apology then I am quite forgiving.

Getting even with the drivers in another race may feel good at first but it just reduces you to their level and if other people see you doing it your reputation gets hurt. I did have one incident in Motorsport 5. There was one driver that was helping another. I was in the lead and the helper spun me out and his friend passed me. There was chatter on the headset. It was intentional. The spinout wasn’t bad and I managed to get near the lead driver on the final corner. I decided to use him as a brake. I figured we would both spinout and somebody else would win the race. My car came out of the accident going down the final straight with minor slowing. I won the race. I feel guilty about that. Even though the other guy was cheating, it doesn’t make my cheating right. I haven’t done it since.

Your beating yourself up on this one. In my book, if it was discovered through chatter it was intentional then you were justified in letting them know you are aware of their tactics and “could” choose to play the same games if you really wanted to. Basically sending a warning shot across their bow that it might be cool to do it to others but it’s no fun when your the brunt of your own joke and you might want to clean up your act a little.

Different ways of viewing it and thinking I guess lol.

What I did was wrong. It may be easy to justify but it was wrong. My intent was to prevent the guy form winning by any means possible. That was wrong. I then won. That was wrong. I am beating myself over this because I was wrong. It felt good when I did it but when I thought about it I realized I was wrong. I don’t want to race in a game where people act like this because it is wrong. I haven’t done this again because it is wrong. Does everyone understand what I did was wrong?

I’m not doing it so much as getting even in my mind, but more to get the point across that it sucks when someone is making it difficult for you to race and to clean your act up and work on being a more respectful racer. And I only resort to this if like I said it’s a constant behavior displayed by a racer after numerous races and verbal discussion go resultless.

I always find it interesting when it comes down to doing this, sometimes the other driver starts going ballistic on their mic and complaining about it happening to them. Makes me scratch my head and put them in the “Double Standard Racer” category.

On the topic of holding my line more and doing a little rubbing. I will race that way with friends, for there is no apologies when we are all friends racing in a room and we know there will be rubbing and bumping when you gather a bunch of fast guys in a race and your all trying to squeeze into the turns and stay on a good line. Sometimes though I’ll just drop back and help avoid causing a big pile up and I’ll catch you later and get around you in place that lessens the chance of a wrecking us all lol.

But if I’m in a lobby without friends, that’s when if drastic measure requires me to go off the road and possibly wreck to avoid taking someone out that has shown a clean racing style but is slower then I’m going, then I’ll make that choice to go off my line if need be. Why? Mostly out of appreciation for the guy being a clean racer. (Because those are hard to come by lately)

One of my pet peeves is racism on racing game forums.

You seriously took that as racism?? Wow stretching that dollar a little thin aren’t you? Racism would be if I added in a derogatory defamation along with naming a nationality!! Which I didn’t do!!

Get some thicker skin man, it’s not my fault a certain group of racers from a certain country just so happens to be typical “dirty racers” on a constant basis. I left out the country these people are from because some are too feable minded to understand I wasn’t being racist one bit and got their panties twisted!!

FORD1955F100,

I have to agree with SatNite Eduardo. I actually cringed a bit when I read the initial post and I’m not from that country. If I was from the country you mentioned, I would be upset. I understand the type of driver you mentioned but they are not particular to one country and not everybody from that country is that way. You could have talked about the type of driver without mentioning a country. I have complained about how political correctness has run amok but I don’t think it did in this case.

Agree with #1, completely disagree with #4.

Most of those guys, if it wasnt always bloody 3 lap races, would eat you alive.

You say you dont brag, but here you are. All Im going to say is: “Player not found”.

Well I dont know if we have raced against each other ever, but stating I would get eaten alive is kinda pre determining that you assume I don’t know how to race or be consistent in my racing. So please explain to me how you “know” I would be eaten alive. I’d love to hear your theories. Also, who said I only race circuit tracks and only race 3 lapers.

As far as saying I was bragging, well that’s odd. Because I’m sure I said I like to race against people who brag non stop on their mics because I can beat some of them for the most part and I love hearing their “excuses” when they loose. Does that make me out to be “bragging”? No, I’m stating what I like to do. To me, bragging would be coming on here saying no one can beat me, oh man my tunes are the best, or I need better competition!

Also I don’t understand your " player not found" comment. Please explain.
