the Xbox One X is still a Xbox One so you would still be using the same game save which is kept in the cloud so I don’t think there would be anything to worry about
Putting aside my feelings on the blatant day 1 cash-grabbing going on, with a day 1 paid DLC, and the release of a superior version a month later (T10 subscribing to the Rockstar model of ‘how many versions can we persuade one person to buy?’), I’m considering upgrading (sidegrading!) to Windows 10, as my PC is significantly more powerful than any of the XBox systems.
My worry is this though. The PC version is released first, followed a month later by the fancy new X version. Does this mean that the digital copy for windows on day 1 will be gimped, both graphically and feature-wise, as it’s tied in with the standard console version? I’m wanting 4K, HDR, 60fps etc…
Also, my saved tunes, layer groups and liveries, do they transfer across to my PC via the cloud? I actually have no idea how the PC/console thing works!
I don’t know about HDR, but the PC version will run at 60fps and 4K. The PC version won’t be gimped.
The way it works (I have FH3 on Xbox and PC) is completely seamless. When you fire the game up on your PC, it’s as if your PC is simply another Xbox. Cloud saves transfer between either platform, it’s totally transparent.
The PC version has a few PC specific differences only insofar as giving you custom graphics options etc. which the Xbox doesn’t need as it’s on fixed hardware.
All I need to do now, is trawl through the unimaginably massive selection of Windows 10 options, looking for the one that installs, leaving my installed programs and files untouched. Seems like a simple task, until you see that nowhere is entirely certain!!
Oh, one other thing. Does Horizon 3 have dual monitor support? I’m going to be running F7 through to my TV, while my main monitor sits in the corner looking normal.
I was curious what they mean about this Day 1 paid dlc too. As far as I knew the only dlc is included in certain editions of the game.
Also, and correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not an Xbox user, isn’t the reason for the ‘superior’ version (I’m guessing they mean the X1X version) being released later because that’s when the new console is released?
You’re right. Day one DLC is just a few bonus cars given to buyers of the Deluxe and Ultimate versions. They aren’t cars they expect you to buy on release day. There’s only one FM7 across all platforms if you buy it digitally. You buy it, you own it. The graphical fidelity depends on your system of choice.
Just download APEX for free and run it in 4K to see how great 7 will look and run (for the most part). I have an I7 4790 at 3.6ghz, 16gb of ram and a 980TI. I run everything as high as it can go including AA at 4K and rarely see lower than 60fps. It seems extremely well optimized. It’s about the nicest looking racing game on PC and the only new one I can run at 4K over 60fps. I can’t buy Forza 7 fast enough if it looks and runs as good as APEX. Makes Forza 6 look ugly by comparison. With Horizon 3 looking and running so much better on my PC than the Xbox, when Forza 7 releases I expect I won’t be turning on my console much. There is no HDR support on PC though (for now).
Upon seeing the PC versions at E3 on Youtube ( the simulator was rocking btw) The game was running @ 4k and HDR. I also read that a Higher end PC will look better then the Xbox one X version and the explanation was simple, a monster PC is going to cost twice if not 3, 4 times more the Xbox one X, so it was said; the game would look better on a high end PC which sounds like common sense to me. The steering wheel support has gotten tons better on Apex btw.
Apex is all I’ve been playing lately. I’m obsessed with it. I can barely play FH3 anymore because Apex is so perfect. Can’t wait to get the first true motorsport game released to us PC players. I use a 1440p 144hz monitor with unlocked framerate and regularly see over 200 FPS using my 1080 Ti with everything maxed and 8x MSSA. Already have the FM Ultimate Edition preordered just staring at me in my library I just have to play the waiting game until September 29th. Crossing my fingers for a preload because my internet is slow and I would like to be able to actually play on the 29th. It would be perfect if they allowed preload starting on the 25th so people with really slow internet can play when the game comes out.
