Question for Car Pass owners who have had to replace xbox one consoles

I have seen a few posts / threads from people saying that they have replaced their console and it looks like their car pass is no longer working and dlc is no longer free or not working at all.

I am confident I know the right order to do things in ie transfer licenses, then download car pass, then try for dlc.

My question is has anyone who owned the car pass on one xbox one and then had to replace their console had success in getting the dlc to work?

My bluray drive is dying. It probably has been all along but is getting bad enough now so I cam confident the techs will get it to fault. I just want to be pre armed with any info I need to get all Forza stuff working.

I’m not sure of the exact order but I’m pretty confident that re-downloading all my paints again is fairly high up on the list.

shameless self promotion.

Thank you for posting video of my ATV paints.

Pretty sure you don’t have to re-download paints or tunes, that stuff is all saved in the cloud automatically, along with your garage’s history.

Console replaced and most went smoothly.

I thought I would share the steps I used because I had seen posts from people who had difficulty resurrecting their Forza 5 game on a new console including dlc ownership. My Forza 5 appears to be fully intact and these are the steps I used:

  1. Plugged in new console and allowed it to do all console updates.

  2. Signed into my gamertag.

  3. VERY CRITICAL STEP**** I specified that my new console is my home console. I can not remember if this question was asked of me during the setup. But it is easy to check. Go to settings (if not sure how to find this pres the menu button on almost any tile and one of the bottom options is settings). On the far left are profile based options. Make sure you are signed in to your main profile and choose the bottom item and change the option if necessary so that it says “This is your home console”.

  4. Install Forza 5 and download all automatic updates. I let this finish to 100%.

  5. Got to my games and apps, Forza 5 and press menu button and select Game Details.

  6. Download car pass, VIP and any other items listed.

  7. Extra step I took that may or may not be needed for some or all of the packs but I did it. I went to store and downloaded all monthly dlc packs. They all had an install option on them and were all approx 10MB.

  8. You may need to manually download the Honda pack.

  9. The store still wanted to charge me for the Road America booster pack but in the game it knew I owned it so I did not have to manually download it.

  10. The sync took an excrutiatingly long time but I can state categorically that it had not frozen and was working. It was measurable in hours not minutes. I am sure something was wrong (Titanfall took no more than 1 minute) but I let it run for around an hour and then stopped it. My game was fine but I had no paints. I then restarted it again and it went forever again but ended up finishing and now everything is in working order. So let the sync finish no matter how long it takes.

  11. Nearly forgot this step…which I need to do tonight - download Hiero’s paints.
