I actually got this idea from playing FM2 again. I noticed anything R4 through R1, the game doesn’t allow you to upgrade the car. You can still tune the car, but the upgrades are locked. This would be a great feature to have for GT classes and other pure race classes like TCR. Balance the cars in those classes from the start and give them all adjustable parts so players can still tune the cars, but no enhancements to the power.
Absoloutely disagree, cars of different years cannot be balanced without upgrades. But if someone wants to drive the stock car (as it raced X years ago) they should be able to remove upgrades. Less freedom is never a good choice
I like the idea of pre-balanced cars.
But it need separate cars by real categories.
“Forza GT” in FM7 is a very bad exemple.
We have GT4 GT3 GT2 GTE ST in the same field ![]()
Maybe, we can have an option in championship to block cars modifications, some kind of good balance of performance. (Not like categories in FM7, but other games have that, in ACC, all the GT3 are equivalent, no mods).
A sort of homologation without modification.
And this option can be turn off, and everybody can tune up every cars, like in FM7 actually.
That’s why I was suggesting more than one category per car or swapping categories for tags in the future Forza titles - to give devs more flexibility in grouping cars and avoid such oddities as Forza GT category (a great example BTW), where many various classes are blended and the homologation must be used for balancing races, tampering with the real performance of cars.
I’d prefer smaller categories but better corresponding with authentic classes in racing, similar to what RaceRoom Racing Experience offers (for example).
I completely agree. I think there could be a dedicated store just for these non-upgradable race cars, and their PI wouldn’t need to show any number since they’re already balanced — it wouldn’t make a difference anyway. It could just display the class instead."
That comment hasn’t aged well — nowadays the devs have implemented a BoP system that doesn’t rely on upgrades, but on internal values they have access to. So balancing different-year race cars without upgrades is no longer an issue. Having these BoP cars available in a separate store would be excellent, giving players easy access to balanced cars for their own custom races, both online and offline.
I’d love to see a dedicated store or section in the game just for spec race cars that already have BoP (Balance of Performance) applied. These cars would be non-upgradable, with performance locked, but still allow tuning — just like real-world race cars.
They wouldn’t display a PI value, since it’s not relevant when BoP is applied. Instead, they could simply show the class logo they belong to, such as Touring Cars, GT4, GT3, or Prototype. That would make their purpose clearer and feel more authentic.
This would give players quick access to a collection of balanced vehicles for competitive and fair racing, whether online or offline. No need to mess with upgrades or guess what’s balanced — just pick a BoP car and race.
The standard in-game store would still offer the stock versions of these cars, fully upgradable as usual. That way, players keep full freedom to build and customize, while also having an easy option for spec racing.
It could also make it easier for the community to organize custom events or lobbies where everyone is using the same spec.
What do you think?
Im pretty sure my comment has been moved from a post citing that they should remove all upgrades on race cars because of realism, so i now agree with the original poster here
