Assuming PCars lives up to its hype (which many titles have failed to do), no doubt the “I just wanna race” players will head off and never come back.
However, even IF PCars lives up to its hype, there will always be lots and lots of “I wanna fantasize about taking my daily-driver out onto a track, and customize it, and paint it, etc” players for whom FM6 will be “what they want.”
And… the games are / will be different enough that lots of folks will enjoy both of 'em!
That’s why I said that Pcars and FM are different games, also why I said I don’t speak for everyone. Pcars offers something different, and the people who want what Pcars offers are unlikely to return to Forza.
The only reason I will get FM6 is because of some race cars that I know will definitely be in the game
Way too many people are making the mistake of confusing this game for Forza. It won’t replace Forza - they are two completely different games.
People have been spoilt with the massive selection of cars in Forza. Fact is though, those that are only interested in actual serious racing probably never touched 80% of them. I know I certainly haven’t.
In essence, project cars is an indy game. To have the massive selection of racing cars and race tracks that they have is a massive achievement. The games is should be compared to are other sims - such as AC.
Suddenly the car selection doesn’t look so bad does it?
To cancel your order because a few manufacturers are missing is just cutting your nose off to spite your face.
It still looks bad, I agree it can’t be compared to Forza and I’m not and I agree 80% of cars in FM don’t get used but judging by the number of touring car ( and other real world based series) being held every weekend I’d say it’s the hyper exotic cars no one has heard of. Now I’m not saying there should be every Honda, Mazda or whatever ever built but the odd touring or sports car would be better than a HyperCar no one will ever likely see or can’t pronounce the name of.
On another note does calling the game a sim decrease the likelihood of being deliberately taken out by a really nice person( insert own words choice) on the public lobby?
I’m much of the same mind mate I lost a hour of my life Wednesday night just to be spun out but some git who was driving as slow as he could in order to hit as many people as he could. That was not a dig aimed at you by the way was just interested in the general feeling about it.
It was mate,
I work shifts so some weeks my only game time is on a Saturday night with a club so the lack of running a against real player who want to race not smash has really effected my skill sets for the game.
Finally some more Xbox One footage. I think all of the videos are done in the replays, which might explain the odd judder but I think they are patching this on day one. I believe the review embargo is 6th May.
I’m sure it’s been mentioned in here, but I don’t really want to search through 30 pages. Can someone who has played both say how the physics in Project Cars feels compared to Forza? I’m terrified this game will be another RacePro, and I’d hate to be that disappointed again
To me, Forza feels like all the cars basically drive the same. The only difference is the shell visually.
In pcars, each car drives differently, has different behaviours that you will need to learn.
Gamepad for now, with a 1 year old running around here the budget is too tight for a wheel. Keep in mind my only even remotely sim experience is Forza, RacePro, and Shift (if you even want to count shift) For me Forza always felt like the cars were actually connected to the track, whereas the other 2 the cars always seemed to skate around. It’s been forever since I played those 2, but that’s what I remember about them both
There are 3 modes for the gamepad that you can choose to use.
Some prefer mode 2. I personally prefer mode 3 when using a gamepad.
If all things remain equal, there will be sliders available to tweak settings (such a speed sensitivity, controller filtering, etc.) so you can adjust to how you prefer your settings.
The only defaults I am a fan of, are mode 3. Anything else I will tweak to get it how I like it.
Now getting back to the argument regarding FM vs PCARS . . . I think there is a clear audience for both. Audience just did not have a choice until now. Both car & race enthusiasts only had FM. PCARS now fill the void for race enthusiasts. Not sure what I’ll play more once FM6 comes out. PCARS simply offers so much more for simulating actual racing environment and cars. Of course I’ll also get FM6 and continue to enjoy it but I think I will be approaching it much more casually. For serious racing, in the rain, in the dark, in changing weather, in tires that wear out more realistically, in cars that consume fuel more realistically, with engines that can blow from high turbo boost, I think PCARS offer a package that has NEVER been offered on a console. And it’s being released on PC/PS4/XB1 all at the same time; this is a glorious time to be racing online, folks! When was the last time you could taunt PC/PS4 people in Sauber C9 laptime at LeMans?
Still the same as last time, never. The boards are all separate per platform. Unless you mean just posting on a forum that you have xyz time and they dont then…
I’ve been sifting through lots of videos again this morning. Have to admit I’m getting the buzz back ( i think the pit stop video did).
Also I’ve been looking around the pcars site and looking at the apps. I see there are loads of telemetry ones for PC but does any one no if there be any for Xbox 1?
I believe Microsoft make it near impossible to do this. I was speaking to a guy who makes button boxes and LED displays to build up your wheel setup, and that was his response when I asked about the xbox one.
It’s a real shame, because I’m sure there is a market for it.
