Thanks Manteomax…dropped my online order from last October and went with the Xbox store. Having Forza and Project Cars on my console is going to take more time to boot up. First I will have to decide which game to play. Decisions, decisions…

And if I’m not mistaken, it’s the Andy Warhol Art Car one too.
Could look at that all day.
If this game ends up being really good, I’ll probably buy it. I could use another racing game in my library, although I’ll need a new HDD though. Mine’s just about full
No Honda or Mazda just to name a couple of car builders missing from what’s meant to be the best racing game ever. Not feeling it at all, smells like Ron Dennis is there PR man! Might end my pre order.
Once FM6 is released, all the people who love customizing their cars will return to Forza. I’m sure plenty of people who play PCars while waiting for FM6 will be dead tired of racing other cars that all look the same by then. The whole point with Forza is car diversity for everyone, by means of car selection, upgrade customization, and livery customization.
Yeah, those who love racing a bunch of identical cars will stay with PCars, and those who enjoy car diversity (“driversity”? ) will continue to enjoy Forza.
unfortunately all that diversity leads to nothing but imbalance where everyone, wait for it, ends up in the same car… go figure…
I will take less cars that are balanced and offer extremely close competitive racing over “diversity”.
*As a new member of iRacing (this is my 4th week on the service) its multiplayer is unmatched, easily. In the last 3 weeks Ive had much closer, intense, clean racing in the mx5 with randoms from all over the world than I have in the last 3 FM games.
Far from “everyone” end up in the same car. Most people (who aren’t only playing to end up on the leader boards) race in the cars they like, many the same cars that they drive IRL. When I race with friends, rarely anyone drive the same cars from race to race, even if it’s within the same class. Each player usually has a favourite car, and what’s the fun if everyone drives the same car?
If you prefer “extremely close competitive racing” (in identical cars) over diversity, then go ahead. Just don’t believe you speak for everyone who plays Forza. Most people I know who play Forza does it for the fun, and not always to win. Winning can be fun as a bonus, but it’s the idea of lots of different car makes and models quite differently upgraded and tuned that makes playing with friends unexpected and interesting, as people of many different skill levels can do well.
Oh, I said I was speaking for everyone? I guess I missed that sentence in my post.
In all my experience, more often than not, you have the regulars that run the usual stuff, then that 1 dude that pulls out the #1 car, to which everyone then swaps vehicles at the last moment to keep the race even.
Most people I know find FM5 not fun, boring and lacking any competition. The 1.6 and 5.7 surely lead to different builds in the lobbies.
I disagree with many different skill levels can do well in the current FM environment. You have the fast ( we stopped racing ages ago because its boring with no competition and why should we gimp ourselves so YOU can compete?)
You have the middle that are also now bored cause all thats left is the “I have to use the fastest” car out in front. “Im just happy to race in the middle but I’ll gimp myself too”, and then you have everyone else.
Well, you DID write “EVERYONE…ends up in the same car”. Which isn’t true.
And you only seem to be writing about the public lobbies for some reason. Racing with friends is a whole different animal, where fun trumps winning at all cost. I’ve stopped racing in public lobbies a long time ago because of people mostly being immature in their attitude towards fair gaming/trying to ruin the game for everyone. It’s the racing with friends of all skill levels in party lobbies that make the Forza series so much fun. I guess some of the most competitive players (who take any racing game a bit too seriously in my opinion) will move over to PCars, but that’s fine with me. Those players are usually only found in public lobbies and running in rivals anyways.
I agree forza is at its best with friends, no question, 100%.
The majority play in the hoppers however, so why wouldnt I talk about how the game works by default?
You, I, everyone on this forum, are insignificant in the grand scheme of “who matters” in the pool of FM players.
Most are Happy. Most dont care?
Spending more time trying to get everyone into a working lobby then racing would often kill the enjoyment in my circle.
It needs to “just work”. It needs to be balanced. It needs Dedicated servers.
We need more specific matchmaking functionality to work with the smaller pool.
Users having to go to external locations outside the game to make the game “enjoyable” is just bad, pure and simple. I shouldnt have to “make an appointment” to play a game/sim to get the most enjoyment from it. My time, is not your time.
Racing games are competitive, you’re here to race, not drive around the country side.
Beyond league racing Forza has had literally no interest from me in about 6 months. Honestly, in my opinion Forza has gotten incredibly stale, and FM5 hasn’t helped matters. The only selling point that Forza has to me right now is the ability to customise liveries, and honestly this only serves to make the road cars look like race cars. Project Cars offers something different for those who want racing and want to simulate real world series without the hassle building the cars from scratch with endless testing and tuning. Project Cars has cars balanced and ready to race each other competitively out of the box, organising a league series is as easy as picking the category and choosing the tracks. And whilst you may be happy with what Forza offers there are quite a few of us who aren’t. And Project Cars provides that. When it comes to the core of it PCars and Forza are different games, Forza a car collecting and driving game and Pcars a race sim. This is even before going into the race rules, weather/time of day options and the much larger track count. There are people who want this on console and up until now have been using Forza to achieve this. I don’t speak for everyone but the view is definitely shared by a lot of people which is why I don’t think people will come flocking back to FM6 when it doesn’t even offer them what they want.
