Prize Crates (being removed in November)

(Updated thread introduction for general discussion:)

There are multiple types of Prize Crates available to purchase in Forza Motorsport 7.

There are 2 rows of crates in the Prize Crates area to purchase:

  • The bottom row consists of “standard” Prize Crates, and are based around obtaining normal cars, Mods, Driver Gears, Badges or a combination of all 4.

  • The top row contains time-limited Prize Crates. These are special crates that can only be purchased for a limited amount of time (usually 2 weeks). They are more expensive than the “standard” crates but often offer better value or rarer rewards. Sometimes these crates are themed (Halloween, Christmas etc.) and may offer the chance to obtain exclusive or very rare Driver Gears (often stated in the description of said crate).

In this thread you can keep updated with what the latest time-limited Prize Crates are, what players have been getting from them and if there are any notable items worth finding.

(Original thread introduction:)

If you’ve seen my previous threads you know the deal. New Prize Crates are up and here are the contents so that you don’t have to “waste” millions of CR figuring out what’s inside. These are for the Prize Crates made available between January 4 and January 18.

For this rotation I opened 50 of each Prize Crate posted below (150 in total):

Conclusions:

  • Despite what the descriptions say, there are no cars at all in the Large and Mega crates.
  • Unless you desperately want the Driver Gears mentioned or Legendary Mods and Badges, these crates aren’t worth buying in my opinion.
  • CR return on investment (assuming you sell every Mod and get many duplicate Driver Gears) is in line with other timed crates at around 50%

Based on tonight and previous week’s results these seem to be what we can expect to get from “generic” time-limited crates. As such it would seem somewhat redundant to do crate opening stats for every new set, however should some crates appear in the future with claims of exclusive content (like we had for Halloween) I’ll gladly do more stats.

New crates just went up:

  • Lucky Car Crate: 300,000 CR
  • Lucky Driver Gear Crate: 240,000 CR
  • Large Mystery Crate: 150,000 CR

No odds or ratios are posted in the help descriptions for each crate.

No exclusive items are mentioned or hinted at.

This leads me to believe that these are “generic” Prize Crates like those I opened on January 4. Don’t expect anything fancy.

I still LOL at legendary badges.

But thank you for taking the time to see what is ( and isn’t ) in the crates.

No cars? Crappy stuff. :frowning:

It might be easier to get good Legendary mods such as Lockdown with the regular Master crates.

Man that is a poor showing. You also don’t get the odds of each crate given to you. Although that is one of the things which may change in the law hopefully.
I mean 0 cars, really Turn 10? Like really really?
Thanks for doing the hard work PJT, It helps many people out. Not me as i haven’t touched Forza 7 in weeks, due to the state of it, but thankyou for this. You do more for community spirit than Turn 10 do.
I think that’s why they finished of the CRS in the end with their changes. We made them look bad. And now you are! Well done!
Seriously, a lot of people won’t have credits to blow on 50 of each box, or even 5, so keep up the good work!

It doesn’t say that there are cars in the mega crates though, it’s only in the description of the large crates.

I’ve gotten a few legendary mods in the Master level mod crates. These expensive ones seem like a big waste. Also, I already have the red ninja driver gear even if I wasn’t looking for it in the first place. Thanks PJ, I’m going to skip these entirely.

Legendary mods aren’t rare enough to create such a big fuss about and can be had easily with Master Level crates.

However, I must say I’ve never come across stuff that gave prizes for Perfect Drafts as some did. I do have a Legendary mod that puts me on pole position, which I believe must be pretty rare, but many of the Legendary mods I’ve got in the crates are the more useful ones (at least to me), such as Lockdown and Perfectionist.

I don’t think they’ll add any special cars to these special crates because people would annoy the heck out of them if they did, even though they’ve already done this in other games via wheelspins.

People will complain about anything… I mean, the most expensive car I own is the Renault F1 car, which still doesn’t cost very much at around 1.5 million. In Horizon 3 there were cars that retailed for 10 million and exclusive cars sold at the AH for no less than 20 million due to content creators abusing the system. Collect enough cars and your tier will be high enough for rare stuff to show up in the level up rewards screen, simple as that, but people choose to ignore the correct way to play the game in order to complain that they’re entitled to whatever they claim they are.

VIP rewards are now permanent as they should be (even though the VIPs, and only the VIPs, get a HUGE boost in the form of the M4 FE… use it wisely), mod crates are cheaper… But it is still not enough. People want to be given away stuff.

Interestingly, I do not see them complaining about cars hidden behind Forzathons and League play, the latter of which forces me to go online and experience first-hand the moral decadence of our civilization. Got the Z8 at least, and will get the Daytona, but lost the 356 and the Jag… Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.

One thing I don’t understand is the badges. I mean, what are they for?!? There’s no achievement linked to them or anything of the sort. Just a collection thing I guess?!?

Thanks for doing this PJ! Typically I just buy these to get the mods and possibly some gear but everything else is irrelevant.

Absolutely agree…I dont understand why they cant throw us some credits like they do when you get a driver gear that you already own

I’ve received a total of three of the legendary mods that put me on pole. I don’t get the purpose really, there’s no credit boost or xp, just start out first…

I rig my races to where I generally win anyway

Has anyone acquired the M. Rossi suit yet? I saw someone with it on during the first week after launch but haven’t seen it since, so I know it was available for at least a short time.

Most likely going to be limited to #Forzathon or Leagues in the future.

So I’ve recently (last week) returned to Forza after a long break after Forza 4. I made the mistake of paying 190,000 for the large crate and received four badges. As far as I can tell these badges are completely and utterly worthless and you can’t even sell them? Not worth 190 let alone the extra three 0s on the end.

Oh well, lesson learnt. I won’t be buying any more in future. I’ll stick to the mod crates and the occasional car crates. Kinda wish I’d done more research into these before dropping the credits on them.

What’s been your experience with the Lucky Car Crate? I have bought three so far. I believe it was called that earlier in the game and it gave me a Porsche 928 closer to launch. I had not bought any for quite some time. I tried it again recently and got a Ferrari F50. I immediately bought another and got the FM7 Porsche cover car the 2017 GT2. I had one already so I sold it in AH and got 300K for it so I got most of my credits back on that one.

Seems like it could be an ok way to get some cars. Mods are better in my opinion with longer races but, not too bad.

I think I’ve bought 3 so far. The cars I’ve received have to even come close in value to the cost of the crate.

Unlucky.
