Price of the MG 6 XPower at auction house

When I try to sell one of my MG 6 XPower at the auction house it only allows me to sell it for 79000 credits and auction it for much more less. Taking into account that you can only get this car from the festival playlist, I think that isn’t enough expensive.

I think this is expected behaviour.

But I fully agree with you. There are much more examples of really hard-to-get cars like e. g. the Mini FE which can only be listed for chump change.

I already listed several issues here regarding the auction house. Nobody cares.

I think the auction house can be much better and made much more interesting compared to what it is now. PG improved so many other areas of the game. Nevertheless the auction house is still like briefly into FH4 with the last improvement how you select the maker. Which was only done so that console players have at least some chance against PC snipers.

Playing on XSX.

How the Auction House Works

There are three types of sellers in Forza:

  1. Legendary tuners/designers
  2. Tuners/designers who have reached a set amount of Downloads but not Legendary yet
  3. Everyone else.

Legendary Status is obtained by receiving 50,000 Likes/Downloads/Uses on either Tunes or Liveries. Once that is obtained then any car you list with one of your tunes/liveries on it can be sold for 20m regardless of its actual value.

Tuners and Designers with Downloads/Uses/Likes on their work gain a smaller boost to the Max Buyout of a Car which they have applied their own work to, this Bonus increases as you reach specific Milestones which are shown below.

0 - 499 : +1000 Credits

500 - 2499 : +5000 Credits

2500 - 4999 : +20,000 Credits

5000 - 9999 : +100,000 Credits

10,000 - 49,999 : +500,000 Credits

These above values are added to the standard Max Buyout of a Car. So if you have 8000 Tune Downloads (alongside the Uses + Likes accrued at the same time) and a Car normally lists for 50,000 Credits then you can apply a Tune of yours on it and sell it for 550,000 Credits.

Please note: Only your Own Work applies in the Case of the Above two Scenarios. It doesn’t matter if you apply a Legendary Creator’s or a Higher Ranked Creator’s work to your Car because you won’t gain the same benefit, it has to be your Work and you must have the Corresponding Requirements.

There is a very small boost if you apply upgrades to a Car even with no Tuner Rank to reflect their value but it’s very small and you will generally sell at a loss if you bought both the Car and Upgrades.

If you are not a Legendary Creator then the main determining factor of the max buyout value of the car is the Supply/Demand during a 24hr period.

• If a car is readily available but nobody is buying it then the max buyout drops.

• If the car is very scarce so there’s no sales being made then the max buyout drops or remains the same.

• If the Supply is sufficient enough to where enough cars are being listed during the day and people are buying them for max buyout then the price will rise (until either the supply runs out or people stop buying).

The Demand of a car is also dependant on many things like how often the car has been a reward, is it a desirable car for performance or appearance and whether or not it’s brand new to the game.

In both scenarios the maximum amount a car can be listed for is 20m, in the case of a non-Legendary Creator you have to wait for the price to naturally increase with the Supply/Demand until it hits 20.

While it is entirely true and very helpful for everybody what you wrote I still think that there are several hard-to-get cars from the Festival Playlist which have a fixed (=low) price for unknown reason.

Could be an auction house issue. Could be T10 not correctly keeping up the master data. Who knows?

Such cars of course have the maximum price depending on the designs / tunes numbers but their maximum price is NOT floating depending on sales that are fast, successful sales, high price sales etc. Their price is just low and fixed.

If the cars don’t have enough recents sales history the default max buyout is low as you’re describing. Their algorithm on this seems to miss the demand.

This is the spreadsheet I look at to evaluate rarity:

It tells how recently a given car has been available. There’s also a separate demand column. The Delorean, for example, is the longest since drop, but it’s not in high demand (and apparently there was a way to get multiple copies, which helps with supply).

I’d like to see some of those oldest cycled back in. Except for the Extreme E. We’re good.

This isn’t really correct. I’ve legendary status and I can only sell the HDT VK Commodore for around 1.7 mil just to name an example. There are certain cars which have a hardlocked max price that’s way below the 20 mil.

Have you applied a Tune or Livery of yours to them?

I can 100% verify this is how it is intended, if it’s not working correctly for you then something is wrong.

I’ve just checked it and the untouched (stock) one in my garage only has a max sales price of 1.7 mil but the second one with my tune and livery can be sold for 20 mil. I didn’t knew this made a difference so far. Thanks for pointing that out!

Yup, as long as you put on either a Livery or a Tune made by you then you get the effect.

This also applies to people who aren’t legendary yet but it has to be your own work, you can’t use someone else’s tunes or liveries.

Generally if a Car isn’t in enough supply (i.e very few are being listed) then the price will not rise even if they’re all sold.

There is a minimum amount of sales that need to happen in the 24 hour period for the algorithm to detect the rising value.

This is mainly to prevent a small group of people from manipulating the market but if there is enough people working together it is possible. This takes a ton of effort though and depending on the car and how many are being listed it could take several dozen people buying them constantly for max buyout over the 24 hour period.

That’s why some cars are perpetually stuck very low like the 1965 Mini Cooper S FE has been. Too little of them were being sold that the price just kept dropping and dropping until it hit ~200k which is the lowest it can go.

Due to the max buyout dropping so low though anyone hoarding them won’t sell as there’s no profit to be made and therefore the price won’t have the opportunity to rise until the car is available again and people just dump them to get rid of them.

@Bravo437 thats an expert summation of everything. I know a lot about the auction house, and my feeling is very few people have that MG, and even fewer have sold it.

That was actually @KillerSpectre21 who provided those details; same forum pic can get confusing for sure. Too bad the system hasn’t yet been updated to allow migration of our current gamer pics into our forum profiles.

@KillerSpectre21 Thank you very much for your great explanations! Now I do not doubt that this is expected behaviour - if it is making sense or not.

One question nevertheless for my interest: Is there a differentiation between Legedary Creator by Livery and Tuning? Meaning could you be a Legendary Creator because of 50.000 downloaded Tunings and sell any car for 20M because you (only) attach a Livery to the car?

I’m not 100% sure but I can check tomorrow

No, here is what I just did.

Added a vinyl

Deleted paint job and added a tune

The tune was just lowering tyre pressure.

No, legend tuners must tune the car, legend painters must add a livery.

For tuners, changing anything in the tune menu or adding any part qualifies as tuned.

For painters two objects are required meaning two vinyls or two masks, or one of each.

Yeah, at the end of the day these permanent playlist-exclusive cars are blatantly anti-consumer. If you want to make them timed exclusives, fine, but there’s no good reason why every car shouldn’t wind up in the Autoshow after X number of months. Well, other than forcing players to jump in every single week for those oh-so-precious live-service-engagement numbers.

you can do an avatar like mine, that’s the only way to migrate a custom gamer pic of sorts, then change your regular gamerpic back. so I have different ones on console and forums

Sorry for asking you out (but you seem to know very good!): With “two vinyls” you mean twice “Apply a Vinyl Shape” and with “two masks” you mean twice “Apply a Mask Shape”?

Thank you very much!
