Porsche 963 - what do you think?

So, what do we all think of the new 963?

I’ve gotta say, I really like it! Not how it looks, I think it’s the ugliest of the LMH/Lmdh cars, but how it drives.

Man, is it a lot of fun. Very high aero means you can just fang it around confidently, it is very sure footed. Yet agile.

As for the sound, the engine note actually sounds closer to the real thing than any other car so far which is great, with the exception of the hubrid/electric overlay which isn’t normally audible. But, I’d rather listen to that than yet another car drowned out by the blasted generic transmission whine!

I’m worried by the fact that they are introducing DLC cars at this early stage of the game…

Yeah that struck me too.

Seems to fly in the face of what Chris Esaki said in I think it was July last year about everything coming to the game without any microtransactions etc

And what about, “no promises”?

Haha love the Okka term, we’re gunna go out for a fang in the new ride, Shazza make sure the Slabs cold for when we’s get back
Oi I called shotgun ya Nong

Its obviously a fomo tactic to get people to come back and play. Im sure we’ll get a few more of these free for a week dlc cars, i can honestly see them doing it every month. I think its the most passive way they can add microtransactions into the game without people going nuts.

I honestly wouldn’t be suprised if they start bringing back some of the reward cars in this form, they’ll be free for a week, but if you miss it for a second time you have to pay for them.

Yeah, and this allows them to get around the whole “everything will be available for free” thing which is pretty shifty.

And as you say, is a way for them to pump their numbers. You either get it early and they get paid via gamepass, or you pay for it later.

Yep

And there’s No Way I’ll ever drop 7 or 8AU$ on one vehicle let alone 5 if that was the offer… are they joking??, Gotta be right?

This installment (Standard) already came in at the Ultimate price that I paid for FM7 (maybe a bit more) and it was/IS so lacking in ANY FORM for the Single Players.

I’m not overly worried about a few hundred vehicles because most of them that made it into this installment feel off, flat and rather lifeless in this Engine, It’s the lack of Tracks and a Single Player Campaign because of The… Lack… Of… Tracks

All of this and that and the not so positive to downright negative reviews from people that actually play the game are mostly based off the above because the strong point of this game is the way the vehicles feels with the points of contact on a controller etc etc and that’s where it ends. The FOMO and the changes that are made each month make the game a game of chance… will it work this update or will I have some issue that is going to plague my gaming for months to come.

FM8 SHOULD HAVE LAUNCHED AS A BETA
Then everything good or bad is part and parcel until complete.

Don’t be surprised if new tracks don’t start showing up as this type of dlc either. This was probably a marketing test and people (including me) bit on it hook line and sinker.

It’s free until June 19th, but after that, it will be paid.

And mind you this is $4.99 for just one individual car as opposed to one of these car packs from FH5 which consist of roughly four cars.

Otherwise, distribution not withstanding, the Porsche 963 is absolute perfection, and has me optimistic that we will indeed, get new Hypercars and LMDh machines in the future. The model we got though is the FIA WEC version.

Oh man I hope so. I so want the whole LMH/Lmdh field!

To be exact, he said that everything will be free for “foreseeable future”. However, that future came much sooner than I expected…

Very unlikely, otherwise multiplayer lobbies with DLC tracks would be very empty. Even Call of Duty and Battlefield went away from paid maps many years ago.

As for the car itself, I really like it - from the handling (more vicious than with Cadillac V-Series.R, as I’d expect from a LMDh beast) to the full set of ForzaVista features. I appreciate being able to look under the engine cover (and hood) of one of the most advanced modern racing cars. I missed that with Cadillac

However, I hope T10 is going to properly simulate hybrid drivetrains in race cars some day (with energy management, ERS etc.).

I really hope somone will recreate the special livery that Porsche used at Le Mans last year!

I checked that car and feels like scanned. Also sound looks different than all porsches. Is this car compeletely built from the ground up?

Stopped the rims are black, running they are silver.
Also there is a bug in brakes when they turn red, and if you turn the opposite side the disc brake gets inside of something

They gotta make money after dropping a game barely anyone would pay even the base price for…

Have not tried the car myself as I still can’t import my logos from FH5 and if I want to drive the car I have other games that do a way better job.
But from what I’ve seen and heard from videos and pictures, the driver is sitting too far down, and the engine sound is so far off it’s not even funny.
That said I am happy the car is ingame and it should have been free for everyone and not for a limited time. Could have been the reward car for a Porsche themed event spanning across the racing history of the brand with selected events using the racing cars we already have.
But here we are…

Realistically they need to make money, being a live service game there will inevitably be microtransactions. I think the free week thing is fine, but personally i wouldnt pay extra for anything else especially cars.

Unfortunately for them they didnt release the game anywhere near a finished state, in hindsight it should have released as an early access title. People would have put up with the bugs, lack of content and overall low quality of the game. They would have retained peoples faith and benefit of the doubt.

The path they chose had the opposite effect and adding paid content isnt going to go over well. If anything it will lower peoples opinions of them even more, they really cant afford that.

The car drives very well stock. It’s about the only car that does.

I am impressed with it’s handling, but I wish I could do more to get it to 998.
