I’m down to S4997 after a string of 2nd places and one rage quit.
I’d guess the rage quit was the main reason for that. I’ve been at 4999 without change for over a year and I quite often finish 2nd.
Interesting. I’ll see how long it takes to gain it back. Probably only my second rage quit since the game came out.
Joined the lobby as soon as it opened so had a long wait then got punted off into the void 1st corner. Nope.
it is true i read somewhere on the forum that the rating works just on overtakes but i find that if i start high and lose one or 2 positions i still gain rating.
It’s pretty certain it’s just done on the basis of where you finish the race and compared to how your starting rating compared to the rest of the field.
Start on pole as a 4990 rating and beat a bunch of 4999 players and you will gain good points. Similarly start 24th as a 4999 rated player and finish 4th, losing to three lower ranked players and you risk losing some rating.

After 4 multiclass races, 3 wins and one 3rd place, I’m back at S4999.
That is how I rating does it so that is quite good but the only problem is it ends at 5k unlike iracing which goes to at least triple.
The numbers are not the problem because they are arbitrary anyway.
The system beneath doesn’t work.
If we had 15000 as the cap everyone would be sitting between 14990 and 14999.

An expansion might work if they fix the underlying system. It would basically be a reset, but people tend to get upset if you reset rating. Make 5k the new 2k, and expand to 15K. But make sure you can’t just max it out again.
If the expand it to 15k while keeping everyone where they are the system should work.

Currently 4998 although I have been as low as 4997 recently. Sometimes I’m just not quick enough and/or not used an optimal car but I also feel the races have been dirtier than usual so have been getting punted off more and that together with entering short races has meant I haven’t had time to recover so been finishing down the field.

Out of 100 players 68 have at least a rating of 4900. While this poll does not fully reflect the entire playerbase it still gives you an idea of huch much the rating is inflated. Thanks everyone for voting!

Rating is very inflated. Im low-mid 49xxs and ppl with less then 100 more are like 2-8s faster then me/lap.
Granted ppl like that usually use meta tunes/cars whereas i suck at tuning and just use cars i think look coolest.
Im not convinced that skill rating takes into account car capabilities.
For instance if me and a 4999 player joined Rclass. He uses…. A rimac nevera, and i use the R900 Mazda furai tune. Even if he hits every apex perfectly, and drives perfectly, if i still win missing half my apexes I’m pretty sure his rating would drop and mine would go up.
