I don’t really tune anything, I just add parts to a certain level on various cars I can handle & go hotlapping best I can. All I do is lower suspension & add more camber, but others are tunes I’ve downloaded. They all struggle at low speeds around the tight corners, it just feels weird, full lock on & it keeps pushing off throttle.
I’ve experienced this same thing. And I don’t know if it’s actually understeer of the car. Or inabilities of game to turn far enough for the extent of the turns of Fujimi Kaido’s tight turns. Has the track exceeded the limits of the game?
Most storefront tunes feel like trash on a wheel.
For Fuji in particular, because of its extreme elevation changes and major compressions, the rule of thumb is soft
- soft springs
- soft ARBs (start with 1/1)
- higher ride height
- moderate bump
- moderate rebound
- max roll center for lateral resistance (to make up for 1/1 ARB base too)
- big use of anti dive/squat for behavior
- don’t use locked accel diff but high is beneficial
Arbitrary example
Spring rates around ~30%
Ride height around ~50% (really depends on each vehicle, but you want a lot of clearance)
1/1 ARB base
Bump in the 4-5 range
Rebound between 6-10
Max RCO base (9.8/9.8)
Anti based on braking throttle behavior
Accel in the 50-85% range for RWD
Decel based on build, could be 5-30%, probably mid 20s for a lot of builds
- set your passive balance with springs (on softer side) and ensure you have ride height clearance for compressions
- if you need more midcorner rotation, add small amounts of rear ARB (eg 1/10 to 1/20) and consider removing small amounts of front RCO (eg 7.1-8.7F/9.8R to start). If not responsive/agile enough, stiffen overall, like take ARBs to 10/30 then reduce more RCO up front. But this track does not benefit from the generic 40/40 ARB + max RCO that so many people do
- bump works better in the higher ranges here instead of the low 2-3s that a lot of people run. Rarely find my builds here going below high 3s if not mid 4s to 5s to control compression
- rebound has to be lower because of the expansion here. Running really high rebound like a lot of people do (the usual 10-11 range that gets posted a lot) gives up grip
- if you need more on throttle rotation at low speed, increase anti squat in small increments
Shouldn’t have a problem with those hairpins after dialing in the behavior
Sorry, I chose your post as an excuse to verbally diarrhea some tuning tips since it’s on the subject
I will give that a go, thanks a lot. I have no idea what a good base setting is for this game, that’s what I need to work from so much appreciated, I did only use a couple of others tunes for my Touring Cars which tbh are very good on normal circuits, just get that same strange feeling around the really slow hairpins.
Thanks a lot for that reply, i was just talking about it on an other thread, was something i noticed recently, good to know i’m on the right way
