Hi. Before purchase i want to know something - i cant reach information anywhere, from any of reviewers.
Does Forza Motorsport (2023) have steering assist that was present in Forza Motorsport 7 on gamepad?
Exactly same assist, that was not allowing for increasing turn angle on front wheels on curves without slowing down to speed of opponents. Exactly same assist, thats not present in any other game. This is major question, as whole handling relies on this, and handling in racing game is most important factor for me.
Yes, I’m 100% sure. I could tune car to make oversteer, but game didn’t let me use it.
Tried it on multiple cars (fm7), and other users confirmed it. There is simple no way in fm7 to lose traction on front wheels by oversteer.
Be aware I’m writing about gamepad, not driving wheels.
Ok, so let me put it different way - I’m not the car spec.
I want deep oversteer - turn with much greater angle than others which eventually will spin my car - just like in any other racing game. Is this possible here? To make oversteer on gamepad? I didn’t seen anything like than on videos.
From cockpit perspective it looked like driver would not turn wheel more untill I slowdown very hard (to match other oponents) - no matter of parts, tuning etc.
the assist on the gamepad allows you to steer to the maximum grip potential of the tyres in any car, turning further than peak grip will not cause oversteer because there will be less grip at the front tyres which will cause understeer. if you want the car to oversteer more when turning you will need to tune it to do so, there would be multiple ways to do so but here are a couple
stiffer rear roll bar
softer front roll bar
less rear camber
toe out in the rear (positive toe)
diff tuning
I get it - thats the tuning i was doing with guides. Problem is, no matter the tuning, card would not turn with bigger angle untill i slowed down to match other (AI) drivers. That wasnt present in any other racing game i played
Games i have played was : Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 1,2,3, NFS Shift 1,2, Gran Turismo 5, motorsport, Dirt Rally 1,2, Forza Horizon 1,3,4,5, GTR 1,2, Evolution, GT Legends, - and few other i dont remember right now, older titles.
There must be a way to turn harder with greater speed on corners, if there is some artificial limitation (ASSIST), its no more racing game. SO i understand here, in FM2023 this assist is also present and cannot be turned off?
If it’s true that the game limits the amount the wheels can turn I haven’t noticed. I haven’t check telemetry but it would make sense if this is happening with controller though to some degree to make the car able to control.
But I will say for sure. If you are not slowing down and just turn the wheel more, whether the game allows you to turn the wheel more or not, the car is not going to turn. You’ve already lost all front grip and turning the wheel more won’t do anything except wear out the tires.
This would be the same in other racing games as well. (at least AC, Proj cars 1, and 2 and GT games) but it might be that the car you are driving is tuned for understeer (stability) What car is it?
Outlier - i have tested it right now (dont ask me how, please) - all assists off, turned one at the time.
This assist is engaging with traction control (Sport, On).

You wont feel it in lower car class, but in high tier (S+) - driving all cars up to GTR is fine without any assist. But once you get to Koesnigseg Agera, or GT C, GT B, GT A class cars traction control is a must. And since there, you can notice wrong behavior of your vehicle. Like i said, it wasnt present in other games, besides FM7, you could turn wheels fully when you wished. Similar is here, in FM2023, but only without traction control.
