Please, we need qualifying laps.

+1000 for qualifying !
(at least an option)
it s a racing game and it s just a nonsense we don’t have qualifying

Did I miss it before, or did the Nov 3 patch add Starting Position? Not exactly qualifying, but better than it was.

It allows to start based on:
PI
Random
Previous Race

It also allows for rolling start and various other options.

I’m certain it was there before.

I think the issue primarily may be that those options are only there on Free Play.

i agree with that.

in multiplayer you are qualifying every lap of your current race for the next race grid start location.
so you’re asking for something that is already in place.

So qualifying in multiplayer is based on the previous races lap times?

Yes.

I usually stick to single player and use random which mixes things up a bit at least. I would like to see qualifying for this game. I have been using another app where you have a default but adjustable 5 min practice, 5 min qualify and then the race(these adjust auto for longer tracks). You set up your pitstop strategy presets and control it from the wheel as you race. tbh it is more challenging than the race itself. Love this game but there is no doubt it could get back up the top of the tree with the appropriate “Motorsport” essentials.

Just set the race length to long. Problem solved as now you have time to make proper passes on your way to the front instead of just ramming your way there. If qualifying existed you’d be spending just as much time to do the qualifying session and the standard length race as you’d spend just doing the long race anyway. And you’d get much less reward for it as well (assuming there’s no payout for qualifying).

Pushing 11-13 places in 3 laps can be a mess, except for those rare times when you’ve got a Ghost mod to buy off the first 60 seconds’ carnage. But once I started doing Extra Long races almost exclusively in career mode, starting grid position became almost a non-issue. I do a lot of test driving though, to tweak my tunes and try out others’ tunes. Often I’ll go 3 laps into the race to check how I’m doing vs the AI, then quit and adjust if I need to move the AI skill level up or down.

If Qualifying were an option, I’d want to add Random Mechanical Issues as an option too. I’ve seen plenty of races on TV where one or two of the fastest drivers was bumped back 5-10 places, or started in the pit (held til last starting-grid car passes) due to equipment changes or pit-crew penalty. And every race I watch, one or more of the cars I’m rooting for has on-track mechanical trouble adding pit stops or just taking them out of the race.

One nice thing about multiplayer’s prior races acting as qualifiers is that I’m pretty bad at recovering from errors, so I’m usually on-grid at the back of the pack. Not gonna win much back there (my MP win ratio is under 1%) but I get more good clean fun and I’m not in other drivers’ way so much. If we had hot-lap qualifiers in MP, I might start too far up the grid, as on rivals I’ve got my share of top-10% times.

Please add qualifying and for all the people how don’t want qualifying, for the last time turn 10 is not going to replace the way you already play the game. We just want the option to qualify so every body can play the game how ever the choose. As I said before, for sim players like me who do run extra long races not having the option to qualify absolutely ruins the game. Starting in the same position on every single race and passing the same predictable IA the same way every time was fun for the first 5 races then it just gets repetitive and boring as hell. Qualifying would make forza the absolute top racing game. I honestly don’t know how it was not part of the game this time around I mean look at all the competition. Come on turn 10 make it the perfect game.

P.S.: If anyone reading this who can make changes to the game, I would like to say that if it’s too late to add qualifying to forza 7’s drivers cup, could you at lease put a random starting grid option? Anything to make drivers cup more interesting cause it really did get awfully boring starting in the same position every race. Thank you.

They don’t care or want to have a truly motorsport game. I made some posts about this feature but i’m sure they will not implement it because they want the money, not the hard work. I will advise everyone to avoid this game and i made several youtube videos about this game’s problems with over 50 thousands of views every video. I bought this game with an open mind and i enjoyed it in some aspects, but if you call it ‘Motorsport’ then implement the features that makes it a motorsport. Like alot of other games, great potential, bad support… Just give us qualifying in both single and multi player and i will revisit my reviews and videos on youtube and update them accordingly.

The people who request qualifying in Forza do not understand what this game is about.

This is a more relaxed game, it’s not intended to be a fully-fledged simulator. What’s the point of qualifying when you don’t have:

  1. Pit strategy
  2. Different tire compounds (Sport is worse than Race because it’s a street tire, not because it’s harder)
  3. Ability to change strategy on the fly instead of always refueling and changing tires
  4. Mod cards that allow you to manipulate starting position
  5. Focus on endurance racing, where starting position is the least of your concerns

I think very few people actually care about qualifying TBH. It would only be useful to a select few who make maybe 1% of the userbase. And qualifying, as well as practice, are easily the most boring parts of the weekend for spectators and drivers alike.

GRID Autosport, which was a more casual game than Forza itself, did it right: optional 10 minutes of practice, 3 flying laps in quali, then the race. Anything more than that is overkill in a game like Forza. IMO it’s more important to have fuel-corrected performance and the ability to manipulate pit stops than to have qualifying.

Nope. It’s all about the old game engine from Forza 4 (?). And you have much better Horizon for a relax.

At least you can set a number of obligatory pit-stops.

Still the driving style has an influence on tyres wear.

What?

You say what? endurance forza 7 - Google Search

I think that less players care about photomode and very, very detailed cars and tracks because they just want to drive.

Only for roadhogs.

If there will be qf then it wouldn’t be so hard to implement a few sliders that could help to set qf as you wish.

It would be much harder to implement due to having many, totally different cars in-game and to old game engine limitations.

Yeah, you are right with what you said, but you’re not right about one thing. A lot of people want qualifying, look in the wish list, more than 100 replyes that request qualy. And they advertised this game as a ‘Motorsport’. Please show me what motorsport cup doesn t have qualyfing. And would be optional, if you don t want it, you can select race only. Please next time don’t speak in the name of other people because you are not right.

This is a casual game.

The average person that plays a video game, has a short attention span.

I can tell you 100%, that if I had to qualify for every race that I do, I would stop playing the game.

Realize that Qualifying for a 3 lap race, is kinda useless, if your qualifying is 3 laps. There are other factors that could be put in place to determine starting location, but forcing a qualification for every race, seems like an option that no casual gamer will want.

Also realize, the only reason you can buy this game for $60, is because of those casual players that buy the game.

So, Either convince Turn 10, that the next game should cater to you, and your hardcore friends, by simply paying 2-3x what the game normally costs. Or, deal with the fact that there are casual aspects of the game, and aspects that cater to the average attentions span of a <10 minute race.

I am just above casual, when it comes to Forza. I complete the career, and then keep going for a little bit. I refuse to do any races that are more than 6 laps.

This means a decent percentage of the career is going to be dead for me. I will possibly do the Nurburgring Endurance, when I really feel like wasting an hour on one track. I honestly don’t like the fact that the game doesn’t tell you how many laps a race is, until you load the thing up. 20 laps around a track, to get a Corvette? Nah, I’ll buy it off the Auction house.

I don’t NEED the race suit, and the reward cars seem to be on the Auction House too. So Really all I need to do, is wait, and enjoy the parts of the game I do enjoy.

Simple answer: make qualifying optional. You decide to forego qualifying? Fine. Start mid-pack, as we always have. Decide to qualify? Maybe you start lower, maybe you get pole.

Here’s to thinking out of the box, eh?

And with regard to your being “just above casual”: I’m sorry but your description puts you pretty squarely in the “casual” camp, IMHO. It’s no problem, but it will obviously slant your views on this thread’s subject.

Guys like you that says that quali is not needed are those that crash and ram every race in multiplayer. And let me tell you something, i never played a race shorter than long option, so don t feed me with that 3 laps races you re doing. And in what game you were forced to play through qualifying sessions? None. It would be OPTIONAL. You catch that word, huh? Like you want some features for the games you play, let the other have their wishes, because they are OPTIONAL not mandatory. This game was advertised as a more serious motorsport game, if you want casual then go play need for speed.
