Just thought I’d share my opinions and frustrations. Some people may agree.
Personally this game is probably the best one yet (well at least could be very soon) The last best Forza IMO was Forza 4.
Online - great I think and I know there is additional coming (glad it’s not just nurburgring constantly…)
Career - the overall idea is great my criticism about the career is the damn AI! I play this game on pro like the others and something isn’t right with the guy in first and sometimes second. I don’t claim to be the best Forza racer but I don’t think I am bad at all, I find myself either on the last lap making a desperate lunge and smashing into first place to take the victory or just never catching the guy in first at all.
The overall mechanics of the career feel like all the other AI such as 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on are purely there to ram and take you out basically make it very difficult and stop you from making in roads on 2nd and 1st. I don’t want to win easy but the game feels a bit of a cheat somehow.
Performance - I am currently playing this on PC and it looks great, runs great. Although occasionally it will just crash (no error given just goes back to desktop, I would say this could be just me but a few people I have spoken to online experience this also)
It’s motor racing - you aren’t actually “supposed” to win. It would be a rubbish game if you easily won every race. This was a bigger issue in 5 and 6 but now with championships it’s more realistic and less critical to podium.
That being said, races can be lengthened and AI difficulty lowered if you feel the need to win every race.
I agree, that isn’t what I was complaining about. I don’t expect to win every race and I haven’t. Although I’d like some kind of balance such as if the AI comes first, that same AI is starting first and will win the next races too if you don’t stop them. I think qualifying should at least be an answer to this. I own project cars 2 and for a race with the AI that is so much better and I think forza doesn’t make the most of what they have, as you said it is motor racing after all. Give us quali (or reverse grid or something)
Placement 1-2-3 on the grid will 9 out of ten times finish in the same order and start the next race in the same order, thats not how championships work. At the moment for the most part they do not race each other but simply drive around the track, changing your difficulty doesn’t make any difference, its aways been a case of chase the lead car in forza titles and that hasn’t changed in F7 , championships make no difference.
Correct - It really winds me up it’s good that we don’t win at the time but even if you win 1 or 2 races you will still loose because the idiot pole will always win. I found that if I catch up and get to him is smash him off completely and he looses loads of points. (simple but effective)
Some may call that cheating, but the AI starting on pole and winning every time is a cheat.
Championship isn’t realistic at all when the same car/Drivatar wins every single race all the time , no other AIs even try to overtake the top 3 and the top 3 don’t try to overtake each other.
Love the game don’t get me wrong but the whole Drivatar thing is a mess .
One word Qualifying, I truly thought quail would be incorporated into fm7 and I can’t understand why it isn’t. It doesn’t have to be compulsory but at least available. I’m generally 4/5seconds quicker than the Ai at pro lvl and would race at the highest lvl if given the chance to qualify and I recon it would be a ripper race, personally I don’t care about winning every race but having to get past a full field of bad AI is just annoying. Please T10 give the ppl quali
+1
I totally agree. Forza will always be just a shiny arcade game without a qualifying… I don’t need to win everytime, but I want a fair chance. Racing good isn’t enough for the harder AI settings, you either need to increase the race length or drive like Mad Max in his snow plough truck.
Qualifying will never happen on this game because most just want to sit down and race, what part of that does no one get. Y’all want qualifying, there are a few more choices now that users can play. Also increasing the race length will help you catch up to the AI it’s only one click in the menus. The AI was poorly programmed this time around and won’t be changed any time soon so we all have to deal with it, they are the AC AI all over again meaning they stay there line and impossible to move. As far as catching first place, well need to get faster to actually catch them. Hurts doesn’t it when the cars are actually balanced this time and y’all don’t over those over powered engine swapped cars or those full grip cars.
Doesn’t hurt at all, The way 1st position speeds off on some tracks I don’t think the best player on Forza could catch them tbh. Unless you cut corners obviously
The A.I. is a little ridiculous. I play on “unbeatable” and in some races they are just that. For example, I’m currently doing a championship in the 3rd part of career and I’m driving my MK2 Golf. One race I finish about 25 seconds clear (long race) and in the next I just can’t catch first and second.
Also in one race, think it was Rio, most of the A.I had problems after a long straight where you end up on some cobbles. The A.I. seem to have issues using their brakes and just crash into a wall. Amusing.
And without sounding like a broken record, the lack of time trial/leader boards has really given me the hump
The drivatars are inconsistent from what I noticed. I was barely able to catch up to 1st on Suzuka in a 10 lap race but on Laguna, I won by miles on Unbeatable passing them all on lap 3. I am a very average driver FYI. But I am so happy about the adjustable race length. I can race clean and eventually catch up. Even 3rd place feels satisfying after a long race. So far I am loving the single player.
Fairly new to Forza (Motorsport), mainly played Horizon (3). I noticed the rubber-banding before but thought I was losing my mind how much the AI steps it up past Above-Average in FM7. Even if I keep it set to one setting, each podium triggers a slight bump in AI speed. Example: Unbeatable at Daytona tri-oval, (lead) spec car pull aways from me when I attempt to draft (8 car lengths back w/o draft help) down the back straight.
It’s fun and frustrating in the same breath, the only thing I’d like to see added is (optional) qualifying like others have stated. You could skip it for the default staring grid, let the computer simulate it (including your setups) or participate.
Some ideas for a mod cards could be to inverse previous finish order for starting grid and starting grid based on points for last race in series.
