Cant believe this still happens with no penalty after FH4 proved players quitting ruined playground. I really like playground but it’s not enjoyable to spend the time to play and at the end of the game 1 team has 6 players the other has 2 like the seasonal game I just finished. Is there any plan to fix it?
I didnt try it yet, but if playground games on FH5 are the same as FH4, im not surprised. Maany people dont like playground games, they are a terrible designed place. Most people, at least in FH4 reached a point where they only did playground games because of the season reward and completion. If the devs didnt improve playground games at all, im not surprised it is as unsucessful as it was in FH4.
Penalty? oh so you want to destroy playground games for good? i though you liked it. Yup, i would laugh to see people doing something they dont want to for 15 minutes because of “penalties”. That will be a success yeah.
You shouldnt be surprised. If you want playground games to improve and attract people, you should ask the devs to actually improve it. They didnt listen in FH4, i dont think they are going to do it now.
I used to enjoy playground games team ranked mode, before the devs intentionally broke it and left it broken for the remainder of FH4. I would regularly see the same players and it was a fun sub-community.
Some players obviously don’t realise they’ll still get the achievement or maybe quit in order to get a more competive vehicle.
Personally, before it was changed to participation in FH4, I used to quit before the first round ended if it was clear my team had lost as I hate flogging a dead horse.
Now, if my team is losing on the first round, I help the other team to win rounds two and three (sitting it out for periods or even blocking my team mates LOL), just to end the pain more quickly as I despise the weekly Playgound Games and always will and like to get through it ASAP.
I honestly think feature like that should not be forced on players to complete achievement.
Those who like the likes of PG, could then just locate the feature in the pause menu.
Not just me who does that then. I will go and get myself infected ASAP if I know we’re losing, or give the crown up etc. It’s really bad game design to force people to play a game mode who don’t really want to be there. But… participation stats are good so that means it’s popular! (no).
Only just noticed that the devs have added two extra ‘Online Events’ to each of the four seasons instead of jut two per series in FH4.
Plus you have to drive 5-6 freakin miles to the next event in a three race event and that’s just wrong for those who like to just drop in and complete the Festival and a few races in Horizon Life when time permits! But for some reason, the devs think they shouold tie the player into online more than they may want to.
I thought the baked-in time wasting in FH4 was bad, but FH5 trumps it!
This game has convinced me beyond doubt that these devs just don’t know what they’re doing, and I don’t think they care either.
I just watched Angry Joe’s video from yesterday about Battlefield 2042’s buggy launch, Battlefield 2042 - Angry Rant! - and the same criticisms he makes of that game apply here too. It’s just a malaise in the industry I think. Big developers coasting along, resting on their laurels and living off past glories.
Idk man, I think they know exactly what they are doing. But they have really killed the charm of these games because of stuff like that (driving to race destination etc…). Seriously thinking about picking up a Xbox 360 and all the old Forza titles, and maybe just staying there… in the past.
Welcome to gaming in the 2020’s lol, sigh… I miss the old days where when they released something it has more effort put into it because they had just one shot of getting it right, bug testing/ and less stupid designs like online everything and locking stuff behind timed events that if for some reason you lose internet or power or just have to work and miss it, it’s gone forever, in the case of this game unless you want to deal with auction snipers.
I have only entered two playground games for the seasonals, both cases the other team quit out after we one the first two events. People are still confused that you don’t have to win the event to get the prize. In FH4 this was a very common issue I ran into even after they “fixed” it by just getting the prize after completion. But too many times everyone quit out on the first match and I didn’t stand a chance, making it really lackluster. If I had the choice of doing all the seasonals offline, and granted it all worked, I’d just do that. But that’s never gonna happen.
Of course they do. They are basically doing the minimum they can do to get profits. They know everybody is going to buy the next forza title no matter how bad it is. There you go. Every single company works the same way. Once people already bought the game, well, we all know how PPG and Microsoft do their homework. Or better said, DONT do.
People, after so many years still dont understand that asking for improvements in a videogame that has a terrible career record BY BUYING the next title is not the way. But people dont care.
They buy everything no matter what. They prefer to have messy and unpolished games instead the opposite. Others will say “if we do that, they stop develoiping forza games”, SO BE IT.
If people want a change they need to act, not behave like sheeps. Year after year, sorry.
Matchmaking for thisweeks seasonal team playgrounds is really bad, took me 5 attempts and a game restart before it would launch. Maybe that has something to do with it?
This week’s was quite fun BTW Build a AWD as it’s wet weather on grass so my opponents got caught out in RWD.
I can’t stand playing playground games, I only ever join it if the reward is a rare car I haven’t got.
I just try to make it end in the quickest time possible. I don’t want to spend 15-20 minutes in this mode playing 8 matches with all the switching sides etc…
It’s more fun to win, but I’m not emotionally invested in it. I’ll scale my goals with the situation if it becomes obvious that I’m on the losing team. If I’m one guy against six, I’ll try to score at least one flag, or see how long I can outrun the zombies. Just because they’re going to win doesn’t mean I have to make it easy. You satisfy the playlist requirement and get the reward win or lose, so I don’t know why people quit and do this over and over again until they get on a winning team.
Playground mode could be really improved if that season even ask just to play it, no need to win… ppl quit because they want to win to get the price/points XD its obv. I would play it for fun if it was like that, but it asks to win so in FH4 I ended ignoring that event because always at the start if ppl loses the first match they just quit, leaving you against the other team… more over when to complete it you need to finish the 4 next rounds, wich is too long. And I assume that on FH5 is the same 5 rounds, right?
You dont need to win. You need to COMPLETE it. And that is very clear in the event description. The only people who leave are beginners that dont like it, period or that they think
they need to actually win and its not gonna happen, so there is no point.
Not a single experienced player, after the disaster of FH4 and ppgs, will play playground games for fun. Not a single one. Maybe some, but those are weird cases of
weird people. Almost 80% of experienced players will play them because of the reward and weekly completion. And thats not a mistery. Happened since early stages on FH4
and nothing changed, so.
I’ve found the playground games much more enjoyable ever since they made it participation as opposed to winning, but I still only do it for the points/car.
Leavers suck for people who care, but they are appreciated by those of us who dislike the game mode. If you want to be surrounded by people who care, go into the horizon open playground queue. In theory, you should avoid leavers doing that. In practice it’s probably just as bad, but who knows?
PGG can’t do anything about leavers even if it were a good idea, especially now. Both the servers and the game itself are incredibly unstable. Legitimate disconnects abound.
The problem is they don’t make it obvious that Seasonal PGG is participation only for the reward…I know I saw it listed in the game as particpation but can’t remember where…a lot of people didn’t play FH4 so aren’t aware and just think it’s a win needed. Then again, FH4 showed people don’t always relaise these things but then PGG have never been the best at pointing sstuff out
Personally, whilst I can’t say I am a massive fan of the PGG event, it is sometimes a welcome distraction from the racing when the AI makes you want to lob your Xbox out of the nearest window! I don’t really care whether my team wins or loses…luckily, I have done PGG twice and my team has won both 3-0. I just do it for the Seasonals which also helps with Accolades as well…got one yesterday for stealing a crown which is odd as I did that last week too but it obviously didn’t track!
I am in 2 minds about it being a Seasonal requirement…on one hand I don’t mind doing it but I do understand those that hate the game mode
They made it super obvious in 4, and most people still quit. Maybe they quit for the same reason they ram teammates in co-op and then quit even though the team is winning. Their ego can’t take a loss.
Or maybe reading a sentence is too much for them to handle. There are many smart individuals amongst humanity, but people…
My point was more: why bother? People clearly didn’t pay attention to the very clear and obvious messaging in 4.
Telling people they don’t have to be idiots on the internet is like telling water it doesn’t have to be wet. The warmth of your voice may speed up evaporation slightly, but it’ll be so insignificant that it’s just plain not worth the effort.
