PGG made it worse this week with the Festival Playlist. Players are joining and leaving non King series and quitting as soon as they steal a crown!
And the best part is - it’s got to be done in freaking Horizon Open, not in seasonal games XD
Playground games are even more painful due to the stupid ‘launch control’ which kicks in sometimes when you’re trying to move, and the car will just barely move for a few seconds. This is discussed in another thread. Another ‘feature’ nobody asked for and hurts the player experience.
I think the trouble is that you have people tasked with designing the game who do not know anything about playing it. They either haven’t played it at all, or only on a very shallow level and have very little understanding of it.
When people who do know the game inside out, given them golden advice, it just gets ignored.
I’ve been on both sides 6vs1 and 1vs6. I do it just for the participation and the reward. I remember one time at the gardens in FH4 that it was the 3rd event and I was the last 1 left on my team. So I stayed out of the way, went off and did skill chains for the points…and then other team intentionally rammed me and even DMd me with some choice language for not quitting.
I also learned my lesson about what car to bring in. I had a Bugatti Type 35 with a perfect 100% win percentage something like 59/59 only to see that go away even after winning all events 3-0. Now you’ll only see me in something I DONT like…probably one of the 18,000 Fords in the game
You can’t blame people for assuming you have to win. It’s how games usually are, and unless you go looking for the text and read it carefully, it doesn’t spell out that you only need to finish. If I hadn’t read these forums I wouldn’t have known either. Even if the playlist says ‘complete it’ many people would still understandably assume it really means ‘win it’.
lol, it clearly says in semi-bold letters “COMPLETE”. You dont even need to go looking for anything. Another story is if some people think that “complete” means “win” for some reason.
If they stopped forcing it on the festival playlist, only people who actually want to play it would be playing. They also need to provide a team forfeit option to use and a nasty penalty for quitters who don’t forfeit properly. it actually can be fun if the teams are balanced and everyone actually wants to play for the fun of it and not some reward.
As it stands I think the devs don’t really understand how bad this is. Since all these problems were in FH4 and they forced it into FH5 with no changes. Festival playlist keeps the player metrics high, I bet PGG thinks people actually enjoy it the way it is.
Whatever makes it end quickly works. Though it is fun making full team work for it a bit.
FH4 made me hesitate before I bought FH5.
I didn’t buy FM7 because beta.
I’m not buying fh6 and I’m close to walking from FH5
If I wanted to be annoyed for $100 I’d go out with in-laws.
I got burned out on PGG in FH3. Did them a couple of times for seasonal rewards in FH4 and wished I hadn’t, not fun at all. I’ve finished exploring the map in FH5 (the part of the game I enjoy) so once my game pass subscription runs out I’ll probably take a hiatus from FH5 until we get a good sale and see if the devs actually fix anything.
It’s November 2021, and the Game Pass/YouTube kiddie crew STILL haven’t worked out that they will get the reward and completion on the Festival Playlist activity if they just stay in the match and take the loss and are unaware that you no longer have to win…
What’s new? ![]()
(Edit: I also assist the other team to win by passing crowns, razzing about during CTF events and crashing head-on into the infected to tag myself myself from the get-go just to speed the process up when the rest of my team quits. They drag on as it is without somebody going full Vin Diesel and holding up the event longer than it needs to be when you have zero chances of winning.)
I’ve won as the only person left on my team. It’s very satisfying.
