I’m sure most of you already experienced the following situation while playing a “Playground Games Event” such as infected, team-flag etc. in a festival playlist :
After losing the first round of an event, a lot of players immediately leave your team - making it even harder for you to win!
To avoid or reduce the behaviour of players leaving a match I came up with the following ideas:
Dynamically balance the amount of players in both teams if one team has less players than the other. This could be done by moving a player out of a team and assigning him to the other team. Most likely, that would be annoying and not fun for the player. Furthermore, it’s not always possible to perfectly balance the amount of players into two equal teams. Think of an odd number of players.
A much better solution would be, that the team with less players has more ‘benefits’ or has it easier to win. An example of an ‘benefit’ in a “Team-King” event (where you have to keep a crown as long as possible) could be, that the time of having the crown is counting faster for the team with less players.
Last but not least: If all team mates leave and there is only one single player left, then BOTH teams could win. This would reward the fair player that is not leaving a losing match.
Might as well just bail out yourself when that happens. Don’t waste your time. The other team gets the dub automatically, and you can move on to looking for a new session.
Be happy buddy when it happens, unless you’re really into them you’re getting the reward in much quicker time than anticipated.
PG’s have become my least favourite mode in FH4 after being near the top in FH1 + 2, the time it takes finding matches is ridiculous and team flag rush is 1 of the most boring things I’ve ever come across in a racing game.
This is my view also, I think a lot of people would be really happy if the playground games were not always required as part of the season playlist to get it to 100%.
You must also understand that making PG part of the playlist make it much easier for players that like this mode to find a loby. In addition it doesn’t require a full lobby since two players are enough to start the event.
As said above, just join them, I do. As soon as it becomes clear you won’t win, leave and find another match. Eventually probably within 2 or 3 attempts it will be you on the winning team who force the others to quit.
I know all that, but where is the fun if winning is no challenge anymore if you’re in a team with a least 2-3 more players than the other team? It’s nice to get a win easy, but unfortunately there is no difficulty anymore if you’re playing in a 5 players team against a 1-2 players team. The other perspective (if your team has less players in it than the opponent team has) is quite frustrating because there is nearly no chance of winning anymore.
They should make winning more challenging when playing against a team that has less players in it than your team has. Also, this would give a team, that has less players in it than the other team has, a chance of winning again.
Personally, I think PG should be a side-game, just like “The Eliminator” for people like you, that actually enjoy that sort of game mode/feature.
I for one (along with many others) absolutely hate the fact we are forced to play PG in order to complete the weekly Festival Playlist when it is the most infuriating game mode IMHO and I’ll bail on the first event if my team doesn’t win as I see it as an uphill struggle for no reason. Life is too short.
On the flip-side, I love it when the other team, quits during round 1 or 2 as it saves me having to waste my time enduring potentially 5 rounds of something I’d rather not.
The most annoying this tho, is when a single player hangs on in there when faced with 6 opponents.
I have seen this many times and it is not a challenge, but delaying the inevitable.
How can that be fun for anyone other than that individual just like to annoy people?
The Trial is OK despite being difficult sometimes, but PG? Nah!
I’ve stayed once or twice just as the sole player for lols, and to pick up my CR and influence. Not recently though and I doubt I’ll do it again but that could be why.
I do not really enjoy that sort of game mode. I have to admit that I only play it because of the weekly Forzathon challenge, as many of you guys also do!
I just thought it would be more fun to have a challenge or to avoid players leaving, but I totally agree with all of you. It would most likely be annoying if winning gets more challenging because then it would take more time to complete the event for the Forzathon.
With the playlist events it’s all about winning, nothing else matters. If you want an actual fun match which is likely to be more balanced with people who actually want to be there and/or know what they’re doing, and are there for the game itself and not just the reward, play the regular PGG events, probably unranked is best because there’ll be nobody abusing the system to help their mates get Grandmaster.
If you mean from Online Adventure, then sure, that’s one thing. I get ya. I’m sure it’s aggravating to those who are in it for the challenge, the joy of victory, the agony of defeat, and all that.
But as far as the playlist goes; a lot of folks just want to get it over with. Being able to quit out when you know you have no chance is a blessing.
It is a flaw in the game. You could fix the flaw by giving negative rewards to those that leave the game. So a negative reward would be like a personality trait… you go from Hero to Pirate, and villain. It was in Elite, an old game.
Not an easy fix, will never happen. Perseverance and entitlement never a good combo. Just punch out. PG won’t fix more pressing problems, bankable they won’t fix this ever. Game getting dumbed down logarithmically. FH2,3, and F6 seem better anymore.
No tuning next FH5 will leave us with dress up and Eliminator. Barf. Dump the clothes garbage, leave tunes/liveries maintained even if creators are gone for some reason, and give us a choice.
Last weeks PGG was near futile getting a game to completion, all for some stupid wellies, or a quick chat phrase. Utter nonsense. I completed it, but dissatisfied with effort/reward for my time. Not fun, not amusing, nothing to show.
I read this as Horizon fight simulator the 1st time and had a beautiful vision of a DLC that consists of nothing but punching Jaimin and LaRacer every time they try and speak.
FH4 would go straight to the top from 2nd bottom in the series for me if they gave us that.
The easiest fix they could do is to remove playground games from the festival playlist and not lock anything exclusive behind it. That way it will only be players who actually want to be there instead of the mode being flooded by players who only want the win for the reward and/or playlist completion.
A better fix long term would be to bring back the modes from FH3. I’m still baffled by how badly the devs messed this up in FH4 given how well it generally worked in FH3.
Solution is simple: remove from Playlist. You can’t block people from leaving an online game and “dynamic rebalance” defeats the point.
If you lose the first, just stop trolling your opponents by staying and making the pain longer than it should. I hate when opposing team stays and when they’re down to 2 or 3 guys they begin to troll you rather than leaving.
