I was getting the error too but I found a solution that worked for me. Instead of clicking the update button under the downloads and updates, I cancelled that update then I went to my library instead, selected show all, found Horizon 3 and clicked on the game icon which took me to the windows store page for the game. When I did that, I had an update button there, when I clicked it, it asked where I wanted to install the game and after that it started installing.
That’s a nice way to wake up, seems like i could reinstall the game this morning (and the speed was really good )…Now , just have to wait less than 2 days (if the unlocking is done properly on Windows Store)
Downloaded the whole 49gigs in like 40min or so. Was surprised, how fast those MS servers are working, considering the fact, that a lot of you guys are installing it now.
I dunno if its just me, but the whole game is encrypted. Couldnt see any files related to FH3, except shortcuts. But the file size is there.
Now lets play the waiting game…
It’s downloading for me now but I’ve only got 15GB in a half hour. I have to head to work in 40 minutes so I will have to leave my computer on until I get home. I have 250Mb/s download speed.
Only!? I’ve been downloading for 4 hours and don’t have half that… You’re doing well!
It seems like I’m also having problems installing it to the right drive. I selected a drive which has 120 GB of free space, but the download appears to be chewing up the much smaller amount of free space I have available on my Windows SSD instead. It’s almost run out now (<1 GB left), yet the larger drive that I told the game to install to doesn’t appear to have lost any of its free space…
But I suppose I’ll let it keep going, and see what happens.
Not really related to the issue, but I thought this game was DX12?
According to the minimum AND recommend specs though, it states:

This is why the preload should have started much earlier. Many players simply don’t have the ability to download ~50gb over the course of 48hrs thus nullifying the early access feature of the Ultimate Edition.

Still getting errors on my end 
I´m really dissapointed now…
I left it downloading overnight, for some reason when i woke up the download was stopped… and when i clicked resume the download restarted from the beginning.
I hope that doesn’t happen again.
When it was downloading last night/this morning the file was showing during the download as going up to just a bit over 60GB before finishing, not sure if that is the full size or what but it carried on beyond 49/50GB, which if you have a slow connection will only make things more annoying.
Apparently mine updated on its own while I was at work, lol. Does the game get installed to a folder called Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.10.2_x64…?
I am assuming so since it is sitting at 49.0 gigs. Just found it wierd that it is called Opus whereas Apex was listed as Apex.
I have looked online for some time and have not gotten an answer. I have checked the Xbox app on my computer and it does not even say I own the game. Meanwhile on my Xbox, everything is fine, the game is preloaded and says i own the game. What should i do?
So my download completed at ~50gigs and then just decided to start all over from 0 again… WTF?

There is not one person who has completely finished a preload and successfully. It dont work …and microsoft knew that . That just chucked that out to shut us up and keep us busy till it releases .
It preloaded fine for me, was 60GB ish and never got an error once despite restarting the download a few times due to it stalling out because of my connection(I’m running a booster box connected using the network cable due to the wifi connection being unstable and I don’t want to run a wire across the house to use the cable).
Plenty of people (myself included) successfully installed the preload. That doesn’t mean there are no issues, as plenty of people (like you) are unable to preload the game. Provide details about the issues you are having so Microsoft and others with the same issues know they exist.
