holy hell this windows store is a fucking joke. first 10gb in restarts. 2nd download 65gb keeps going 3rd get to 16gb error 4th gets to 28gb restarts. over 100gb of my 450gb quota gone and i dont have the game. Now i have to wait until next billing cycle for my internet to try again. get fucked

I’ve downloaded the game 3 times already, now I did a Windows Store reset and I’m trying it for the 4th time, each time I download it goes out to 48.50GB out of 49.04GB and then resets out of the sudden. Hopefully the Store reset has worked and I won’t have to download the game for a 5th time.

I too left mine over night at 18gb before bed. Woke up this morning and it has restarted the download and is sitting at 3gb… i know they wanted to realease both at the same time but this is a major stuff up. No way I can download it on PC before release now especially with preordering ultimate edition

Same here pretty much. I left mine at 11gb before bed. Woke up was down to 2gb. Restarted my modem, cleaned my registry, restarted my PC and tried again. It got to 20gb then stopped with an error, got to 30gb stopped with an error, got to 25gb stopped with an error. This is ABSOLUTELY the worst preload experience I have EVER seen. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Microsoft, Turn10, Playground one of you guys need to get it together!!! You would think that a company that has been making their own OS for 30 years would have a handle on their customers being able to preload a program… Get yall’s stuff together!! I’m done with trying to preload this thing. I’m just going to wait until it releases. HOPEFULLY, it will download after the official release. It would be quite embarrassing if it didn’t. So much for the ease of UWP, eh Microsoft?? Good luck guys!!

I am having the same issue here. It just keeps restarting the download. Thank goodness I don’t have a data cap because I’m already over 100gb of downloading on just this “preloading” alone.
im just thankful i have it preloaded ready to go on xbox. I only bought one as a so i can play in the lounge and in the pc room. Thank goodness for that!

Although I’m just thankful I also have an XBox One with it already preloaded on that, so I can play Friday before work, and hopefully the problems with preloading on PC are fixed then.
for ultimate users this pre load is late , iam sorry but not everyone has 100mb internet speed and i payed 132$ and i will miss the early access just because it takes forever to download. also the download speed is all over the place jumping from 300kb to 1.6 and somtimes nothing at all . really pissed about this :[

I understand there were some issues on microsofts end yesterday with the launch of the preload, the forums were barely loading for me and other weird things happening. from what I understand microsoft pushed a fix yesterday evening and brian posted on here about that it was apparently resolved
I decided to wait today just to make sure things were fully sorted out and I’ve successfully preloaded and installed the game in one attempt. it baffles me some of the issues some people experience considering I almost never run into problems like some people here are describing. I assume it has to do with each users computer and some specific issue that’s causing it, it could be a hundred different reasons ranging from drives going into sleep mode, connectivity issues, etc… I also have lots of windows 10 features and settings disabled which I’m surprised hasn’t caused any issues

you should elaborate more. I don’t think I’m lucky I just use my computer in a very vanilla fashion. also its not a 60gb download, its 49 I believe
you started the download and what happened between that and now? I’m sure there are details in that time frame that might have caused your download to restart
Not sure what else I can elaborate. I just let it download while I’m surfing the net, and watching the download counter, thinking its almost over, then all of a sudden, the counter starts from 0 again.
As far as I know, I’m using the computer in as much of a vanilla fashion as you are, but we have different outcomes. Still have 160gb of space left so thats not the issue either.\
Also the download was originally 49.04 GB in size, but after it reached that point, it just kept in going, as others have observed.

I have the exact same problem and some others. I have completely downloaded the game 5 times if you add up the total size of my failed installs. First time I got the error everyone else was getting at 17gb so I restarted. Then it downloaded entirely, going past the 49gb and continuing all the way to 90gb before it restarted itself. Then it downloaded all the way to 49gb and stopped, but didn’t say complete or installing, then 10 minutes later it disappeared and showed up in the update list, showing me the down arrow prompting me to download it again… So I followed all the suggestions from the forums and downloaded again overnight, only to see that after I woke up that it had downloaded completely and restarted itself, AGAIN. I am at a loss for words at this point and currently downloading again, 44 of 49gb at the moment and if this doesn’t work then I will just play on the XB1 on Friday. Thanks to all the people who have been trying to help on the forums and to the people posting “It worked fine for me” that doesn’t help the ones who are having issues.
Have you tried deleting the Store data from Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download
Might help, I did that with mine after it failed the first time.
Microsoft are really showing themselves up as incompetent here. I wouldn’t hesitate to download through Steam, but I can’t trust the MS Store again in its current state.

I am happy to report back that it just finished downloading and seems to have installed finally. It kept on downloading past the 49.04gb and I was starting to worry it would do the endless download again, but then it stopped and disappeared from the list. Looked in the store and the games list to see that it was in both places with the “Play” option. I don’t know what fixed it, if anything or if I just got lucky finally after downloading it a ton of times. For the people having issues, here are the things I did throughout my ordeal - I made sure I had the latest version of Windows, I reset the Win Store cache, cleaned the temp files, rebooted my pc, and left the Win Store app open the entire time never minimizing or closing it.
Yes, the Win Store is a huge mess as far as download speeds and reliability is concerned. I feel bad for all the people with data limits who are having these issues. I essentially downloaded ~300gb worth of data in total trying to install this game. That’s just unacceptable. I hope M$ fixes the issues and everyone else having problems is finally able to get it installed before Friday.
Is it possible to create a torrent? For many people this would solve the problem
For me, the download completed at ~50GB ,it’s installed and pinned to the taskbar now. I think I was lucky then few minutes ago… Also one question, as I bought the Ultimate Edition, the bundles that is included; Do I have to download them in PC? or it’s just to own it and it works?
how long did it take you to download that? did you minimize the store app at all during your browsing session while you thought the game was downloading?
I minimized my store app 10 minutes after the download and it disappeared from my task bar. I launched the store app again and it left off from where it was when the store app decided to close. never minimized after that while I browsed the internet and it successfully installed a few hours later
Download started last night so about 16 or so hours ago. I didn’t minimise it, was just flicking over to it every now and then to check on progress. All the way through it was steadily downloading.
Strange everyone has so many troubles with preloading, i paused it like ten times but that wasn’t an issue at all.
