Xbox has teamed up with Oreo for a Europe-only promotion of special edition cookies. These limited-edition cookies will bear the Xbox logo, as well as the iconic A, B, X, and Y controller buttons alongside a directional arrow. By scanning the Oreo Xbox Special Edition cookies and by cracking exclusive cookie combinations, inspired by the cheat codes hidden in games throughout history, fans can unlock a range of prizes.
This promotion is available on packaging in select European countries and will provide Xbox/PC and Steam codes to add a custom livery 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster 'Oreo Edition’ to your game.

Anyone remember when game companies were “cool”?
Could you imagine, way back when, some corporate honcho walking into Carmack’s office, suggesting a Dorito outfit tie-in with “Doom”?
How about Broussard changing Duke Nukem’s famous quote to “…and I’m all out of Oreos” in exchange for a few bucks?
I just don’t understand these marketing angles at all. Neither the product choices or limiting to certain markets for products available to much larger (if not global) markets.
But that makes no sense. How does it hurt the brand to include other markets ? It doesn’t. In fact it risks hurting the brand in those other markets when consumers there see this as something of a snub.
This one (especially) strikes me as more a MS/XBox promotion than a cookie promotion given the fact they made the Oreo’s in XBox theme. But, I could be wrong, and normally such are supposedly mutually promotional. Pretty sure it isn’t just about selling more Oreo’s in Europe. It if was it wouldn’t be XBox themed. It’d be more Europeon / locally themed or simply a coupon blitz. They wouldn’t have spent the time and money tooling dies to stamp XBox designs on Oreos.
Most of these European counties (including the UK) weren’t valid for the Doritos / Energy drink promo from before Christmas. A chance for those left out in that promo to snatch an opportunity here.
I’m based in England but according to the promo website I’m unable to do anything until the 16th of January regarding this promotion…
