New 2017 Ford GT OPI Edition

Well im a Forza Horizon and Motorsport car collector and it seems my collection in FH5 is ruined because of this car. I had every car in Forza Horizon 4 and i wanted to do the same in this one but unfortunately that wont be the case. This Ford GT OPI edition can only be obtained in the US, WHY?! If anybody that doesnt live in the US wants to collect all cars it wont be possible because of this car. they let a lot of countries get the Ford De Luxe FE by buying the controller, why can this car be the same?

And before someone says its just a car with a different livery well I have a few things to say:

  1. If you are a collector you want every car no matter what it is.

  2. This car has a special upgrade preset that upgrades to top of S1 and might drive differently from the normal Ford GT which for me does makes it interesting.

[Mod edit - WSD - I have edited your title to a more appropriate one. thanks]

The Code will only work for an USA Xbox account for what I understand, that is the problem, I was gonna buy it for my wife actually xD, but I want to be 100% sure that the code will work in my account if I spend the 20 USD for it.

I live in Moscow (Russia). On January 26, I activated this DLC Ford OPI, I changed the region to US (although I don’t think it’s necessary) and it was added to my account. Today, after the game received an update, this Ford OPI was already in my garage. So it works in any country/region.
I took a couple of screenshots so that you wouldn’t doubt (on the screenshots you can see my gamertag in the upper left corner).
p.s. And yes, I got this code absolutely legally, but of course I had to resort to the services of an intermediary. But in any case, OPI got my $20.

Did somebody bought it for you at an OPI store in the US or did you do the purchase through the OPI website?

No, I found a person who has already posted 2 offers for sale. It was at the end of January, 26th. And it was probably lucky that I found someone who needed nail polish, but didn’t need this Ford. He wasn’t trying to sell it for more than $20, so he wasn’t trying to make a profit, he just didn’t need that code. Now I contacted him and asked about the second code, but he replied that unfortunately it has already been sold.

Now I have found one offer on ebay, but it is expensive - $45.

Ohhh ok that makes sense, yeah i think you got very lucky x), but im glad you did because now we know the code works on any account no matter where you are. Anyways im no buying the code from someone else because it can be hit or miss and i might get scam, so i think after the frustration this car has given me i have accepted that i wont get the car.

I guess i was wrong to think that because we where able to get every car in FH4 (including the preorder cars that where sold in the Forzathon Shop) that it was going to be the same thing in FH5, but I should have seen this coming when they locked the Ford De Luxe FE behind the controller, what a shame.

The promotion goes global tomorrow. Keep an eye out for retailers and we’ll update you when we have more details.

Just when I’d resigned myself to not getting that car…

lol… although I’m filled with dread at where this may lead… I sense a great disturbance in the Forza… as if a million retailers suddenly cried out in joy…

LOL

As far as I can tell these products are going to be available here in the UK from 1st March, though I’ve seen no reference to a specific offer about Horizon or Halo offers on any of the UK sites I’ve seen. Have you got more information?

Certainly did! Thanks!

Whoever is in charge at marketing at Microsoft who approved of this dumb decision should be fired. Because when I think of cars and Halo… I think of nail polish? Are you freaking kidding me?

I don’t think they’re marketing it correctly or fully. Direct the campaign at the guys who have girls (or whatever)… February is coming, this Valentine’s get your love some awesome polish with a game name and keep the FH5 car and goodies for your game !

OPI… I’m available for marketing ideas freelance… reasonable rates.

I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how it’s being marketed.

Could be, I just haven’t seen any marketing outside of the blurb here. But then I’m not the primary target market or in their usual advertising sphere either so there’s that.

EDIT : By which I mean their usual market and sphere. As a gamer, Forza fan, etc. I should have been seeing a ton of directed marketing. Instead of nothing. That, coupled with the blunder of (initially) limiting it to the USA makes me wonder if they thought it out or if maybe it was a last minute rush job ?

It’s actually a pretty good marketing decision if your aim is to make money. OPI win and FH5 wins. I would also point out that plenty of women play this game as well.

Yep, agreed. The only marketing blunder in the idea was limiting it to USA only, and somebody fixed that right quick lol.
