I don’t know about anyone else but I find the career Open class events very repetitive. They would be massively improved in my eyes with a leaderboard showing your friends’ times and your own best laps.
It won’t be the same but, especially as we are now required to do 6 events, I thought it might be interesting to set up a thread for people to post their screenshots if they want, with a view to a forum “best times” list each month. We can also see what cars are proving popular.
I only thought about this after I’d already done D class but here are my C class times. Didn’t prove too successful in the Dino against the AI. Just outside the top 3 overall. Not sure what the AI theme was but they seemed to have some quite quick cars:
The reason is because the game is live service crap and a real career, soul and atmosphere is missing.
I wrote this alsmost 100 times already everywhere.
The fact is: in the current state FM 2023 is NO competitor to GT 7 except the grapichs and motor sounds! But this 2 aspects alone doesn’t make it a good game.
Personally I use the Open Tour to drive cars I haven’t already driven, and performance isn’t much of a factor. I picked the Golf MkI in D, the Skyline’ 71 in C, and it was clearly not the most optimal choice.
I don’t think it’s more repetitive than other aspects of the game, and I don’t see how a leaderboard would make it less repetitive. I think it would be better if you could pick any car, of any class, and generate a series of 3-6 races on the spot. Would be even better if you could set the theme/restrictions yourself (though of course, that would assume the restrictions work properly, and I haven’t tested if they fixed country/region restriction in Update 10). At least that way you could have it different every time.
Leaderboards don’t make things better. Besides, to quote the philosoph Toretto, “winning’s winning”. Doesn’t matter by how much. I don’t think the Open Tour should be destined to be a competitive playground for lap times. That’s what Rivals is for.
A good idea @Jezza14 ! If I could get my screen shots without the game stopping when I load the NVidia overlay I would. I am surely missing the rivals thread during the summer vacation… even if I do spend all of my time hopelessly chasing down your ghost!
Used the Acura NSX for S class, as it was at level 44, so thought I might as well max it out. The lead AI having 16 Vipers meant that they were fairly quick but just about got the event win. My NSX might not have been exactly a purist build…

This little Ginetta is one of the best cars added to the game.
I used the 65 Mustang for D class.
First race only added tire width my best lap was before the last at about 1:26 and was not clean.
Second race upgraded to 399 which includes race transmission (close ratios), differential (60/30), and clutch. In addition of more tire width 275 front and 315 rear. Best lap time 1:19.531. Got 2 penalties of 0.5 and 0.8 before getting the lead.
Third race added rear street stabilizer bar fir pi 400. Best clean lap 1:18.874 and a dirty 1:18.4+ in which i received a deserved penalty of half a second.
The 1965 Ford Mustang GT drivers and feels like an old car with lots of weight shifting and nice -controllable- dancing tail.
Thank you @Jezza14 for opening this topic. I wanted to share last month but couldn’t figure out how to get the results page photo but @uber_understeer opened the way with his previous post.
Thanks for sharing @uber_understeer. I’m about to start B so I’ll put my times down as well when I’ve been through them all.
Separate to the aim of this thread but I note that the Open Tour appears to have become 18 races each 7/8 minutes long. When it started, it was 16 short races of 4/5 minutes. That seems to me to now be 3 hours time to obtain one car, which you have to do within 4 weeks. T10 don’t seem to be listening to what their customers want at all and are just ploughing on with trying to force as much engagement as possible.
The Ginetta is a great little car. I’m not really a fan of D class so it’s more or less the only D class tuned car I have. I think I ran a best lap of 1.15.6 in the last race - my overall times were slower than Uber though - possibly as I start 24th each time.
First race Maple Valley short 476 Pi best lap 47.081 dirty without penalty. Didn’t get any clean lap in this race.
Second race VIR 1:19.739 clean with 500 Pi. The game under estimated the car telling that I’ll finish P1~3 if I started in P12. I did, in result I was in the lead just before T1. The rest of the race was drifting and sliding.
Third race best lap 1:02.984 dirty and picked a warning and .5 + .3 penalties.
This car feels better in D class for me. As it lost almost every aspect of its character in C class.
