Online Racing Championship

When going to play the online adventure there is no option for a racing championship. The only option for so-called racing online is the XP Championship. My consensus is that drifting outweighs racing fast and clean. In most the races I have participated in, the driver that finishes near the back of the field primarily drifting in a race and those that do so also racing to an event end up finishing higher in the championship than those that consistently finish in the top 3 in each race. This is even after the tap drift exploit was fixed. This just is not a very credible online component for a racing game.

It would be nice if the online racing were similar to the single player mode in which finishing position is determined on how fast you race. Also a ranking system similar to other racing games would be a fine addition too. Friends of mine say they won’t purchase FH3 because they have heard the online component to this game is not very good. I would tend to agree. It is quite a letdown to do an enjoyable well thought out single player campaign only to then play the online adventure which feels like it did not take a very high priority with the developers. Are there any other players that would like a straight up “Racing Championship” in the online adventure?

I just finished an “XP Championship” where a player did not race to a single event. He just went off track and started doing insane skill chains. He also finished near the back of the pack of every race. He ended up winning the championship. This is absolute foolishness!!!

Yeah, it’s bad and commonly griped about. Multiple threads. The last Horizon game was like that, too, and since the roadtrip/adventure design hasn’t changed much, I doubt it’ll change. But even though the finals standings and the 30,000 CR can go to people who don’t even drive, every one in the lobby knows who’s winning the races. And I’ve found that a good way to counter people drifting is to show no mercy and make it hard for anybody not racing to finish within 30 seconds. If people are racing and I have a lead, I tend to slow down or even stop and wait to let people finish. But if I see drifting at the back I don’t do that. Making it hard to finish seems to thin out lobbies of drifters pretty quickly.

That is an excellent idea of finishing 30 seconds ahead of the drifters who are not even racing. It’s sad that the developers don’t respect the racers in the online portion of this game. It leans toward clown games and drifting. Hopefully they come to recognize the players that prefer to race online and give us a proper racing championship. It would definitely bring in more players to help out their revenue.

Another game I play is “The Crew”. They actually have an online racing lobby with a player ranking system. That is probably why that game is still going strong having been released 2 years ago with new DLC being released this month. The single player in that game is not very good though.
