Online adventure ruined by drifters

Hello,

I am seeing this pretty much every online adventure I join and it annoys me. Players with mostly HE cars doing drifts only during all races and not racing properly and always winning whole online adventure series. I dont remember this problem from Horizon 2, but this completely ruins my online experience. What do you guys think? On screenshots you can see that player is DNF from race but in the end he gets the most XP points so he is winning after all because he does nothing but drifting all the time. Is this really fun for them?

Yes! This is unfair

XP CHAMPIONSHIP - “EARN XP TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP”

And yeah, it’s fun. You should give it a try.

If people are playing to win then going for the most efficient way to gain XP is a perfectly legitimate tactic.

From my experience, if you race cleanly and try to conserve you own Skill Chain (avoid crashing into walls/players) you’ll do fine.

Ultimately however, Horizon is not a “serious” racing game so it does not really matter who wins or loses. Just drive to have fun, while getting a few Perks and Wheelspins along the way.

This.

Great points. Have fun. Race however you want.

I agree in part but there should be an option for pure racing

Who cares? I race to WIN races. I don’t care if someone else wins some “arbitrary” championship. If I win races I am happy. If I lose races and win some “arbitrary” championship I am unhappy.

Is it stupid? YES! Does it really matter? No! It’s even worse when you are up against 3 or 4 members of the same club as their club bonus will burn you just as much if its like Horizon 2. Also the fact that about half of the points came from point to point travel rather than the races themselves. I too would like to see pure race results championships but for some reason the makers of Forza don’t.

They need to make it so HE cars count towards personal xp only and not championships.

Yes, otherwise there will soon only be six different cars online. Also if somebody doesn’t actually finish a race he should not get any XP at all.

This can be baised to drifters as well as though who keep crashing into the walls.

Say there’s a wrecker in the lobby, pushes your car off the cliff, becomes hell to get back to the road, and you didn’t finish the race.

Bad idea.

(I’d prefer it’d rather be you get how much exp depending on how far away you were from the finish. Rather than getting half when you are a .100 away from crossing the finish line when the timer runs out.)

Ever thought your racing is ruining the drifters fun? IMO we need a extra lobby so you can choose race or drift. You don’t even need a HE car for crazy XP, seen lots of players in normal cars do it.

That’s something the drifters need to talk to the devs about. Maybe they can try to make a drifting championship or something. But honestly a person who gets first place in races that are in a RACING championship indeed should not have to get overall 2nd, or 3rd just because someone who never even came close to any finishing line, or even participated in the race at all was drifting. Like was what stated by someone else, it doesn’t matter too much, but it’s still stupid.

If you had watched or listened to one of the first intros to races, it actually tells you this.

the problem here is that its an XP championship instead of normal win points championship so cant really blame them

Finally played online last night and i am pretty dissapointed that nothing has really changed. I stopped playing horizon 2 for these reasons, i dont like that everyone seems to vote for s2 no matter what and people can still win championships while never crossing a finish line.

Im not against skill points, i did win the 3 championships i was in while not having to come in 1st every race by racing clean and keeping my skill chains, but to think that you really dont have to bother trying to race and still win bothers me.

I also think they should make it so the same class cant be chosen twice in a row. I did 3 championships in a row, all s2, basically the same people in the lobby with the same results as before. They couldnt control the cars and were just smashing into eachother as well as everything else.

They put more emphasis on having to use more offroad based cars offroad, yet all i saw were supercars on cross country tracks, the results were as i said above, a mess. I dont think ill be playing this much online anymore.

I came very close to just saying no to horizon 3 because horizon 2 online sucked so bad and I knew it would be the same. The offline game seems outstanding though and the blueprints are genius letting you do whatever you want. Unlike online where you are forced into an S2 group of idiots who have no clue how to drive an S2. A class and below are huge fun but every moron figures he has to drive the biggest baddest supercar ever built and tweak up everything else to ridiculous specs. They don’t care that most of these things are undriveable.

I won’t be playing much online at all because it is a bad system in both scoring and choice. I love playing against humans but just not interested in S1/S2 demolition derbies. Actually driving cars you can control is a lot of fun but that is hard to find with the ridiculous online voting mechanic. If could race A-D class only I would be online all the time! Online needs choice and it just doesn’t have it.

Every time I do an online adventure there’s a bunch of people who pick A class. I hate this more than anything though, because they upgrade lower class cars with nothing but power and wreck at every single turn in the race, but manage to get podium because they’re driving an A class car with the acceleration and speed of a hypercar. Lol It wouldn’t bother me so much if they didn’t try to use other people’s cars to manage the turn by turning on their insides and pushing them aside.

Well, if its like Horizon 2 they upgrade everything up to S2. Cars that have no business being S2 but they can do it so they do. They all vote S2 because every car in their garage has been tweaked up to S2 and none of them can control an S2. It makes no sense and I don’t see how it can be fun for them. I used to lap guys regularly in S2 races because they just couldn’t handle the cars. I used to win S2 races in an S1 (actually S2 but only upgrade to like a 903) just to prove the point that S2 is stupid online and 9 out of 10 players cannot control them. D, C, and B classes are huge fun but those high speed crash fests just grate on me and I refuse to play in them. I just would enter an online roadtrip and if it was S1/S2 I would drop and try again and again and again until I would eventually land in A class or below.

Every online adventure I join is A or lower. If I go S2 it’s because the vote after I join. I don’t really get people who customize cars that shouldn’t be S2, I just get people who don’t know how to drive…AT ALL. No matter what class it is. Haha…
